  • "Family of 4 adults and two under 10 children for one week at this stay."

Would like to say first off, this is a fabulous property and we would definitely return. It is spacious, airy, clean and has a wonderful sense of calm. Beds and linens very comfortable, decor excellent. The kitchen is well equipped and all facilities you could need for a holiday stay including washing and a utility area. The location is perfect and the views over Rock towards Padstow are excellent. Few maintenance points: - There are quite a few light bulbs blown, both inside and out, including those around the car parking area which was pitch black at night. - The sofas in the main living area could do with new stuffing in the seat cushions - they have gone very flat and hard, as a consequence it was difficult to relax on them in the evening. Our only real gripe is in regard to the T&C's from the property management; we have stayed at many Cornish Cottages, and this property has a significant list of cleaning duties you must perform prior to leaving or face additional charges. Whilst we are in complete agreement with respectfully leaving a property in a good state ready for it to be professionally cleaned for the next tenants, we felt the list was a little too extensive, in particular as it needs to be vacated by 9am on the day of departure.

Thank you so much for your kind words. It's great to hear that you had such a fabulous stay and had the perfect base to explore the local area from. We are sorry that you feel our T&Cs; on departure cleanliness extensive, we do not mean for this but just hope that our guests can leave the property in a respectable state prior to our cleaners going in. Our check out time is 9.30am so our apologies you were not made aware of this. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Hi Matt: Sykes have replied above regarding the T&C. Regarding the bulbs and the sofa many thanks for the feedback. We do reply on feedback from guests to help identify what needs to be improved. Both items are on the task list now. Please come back again! Property Owner

  • "Couldn't fault this property at all!"

The double beds were really comfy, and the facilities were all great. It's in a great spot with clear views of the sea! We had a lovely stay.

  • "Yet again we had to request a key to the back door which was not at the property."

Also, for the last few years, the dimmer switch for the en-suite bathroom is broken as is the dimmer control for the sitting area ceiling lights. These could become an electrical hazard and need replackng.

  • "Hiya, got a call from from your office about the back door key yesterday and has jogged my memory on the other things you need to be aware of."

The toaster is not working properly. Light switches/dimmer switches old, cracked and broken . PAT testing ran out in July! Kitchen drawer fronts fell off, kitchen shelves holding the glasses were about to fall. The downstairs smells of damp, mould around the bath, (en-suite downstairs ). Photos are available if you would like to see. As the agent for the property I think you should be checking if it’s fit for purpose although I appreciate feedback does help (hopefully). It didn’t, however, when we rented First Light in August 2020. The property details stated there was a coffee machine (which was also shown in the photographs). This wasn’t in the kitchen but in a locked room downstairs. We called and emailed to ask about this, but nobody was available or responded. Happy to discuss further if you would like. • "In response to your note I would like to say how much we appreciated the provision of bedding and towels - this makes life so much easier and avoids filling the car with linen."

We also thought the provision of some basic foodstuff was a good touch as it allowed us to settle in without rushing to the shop. We look forward to returning next year.

  • "Dear All, Just to say thank you!"

We have had another wonderful week at 19 Slipway. We find the house so well equipped, perfectly laid out, and beautifully maintained for our type of holiday that it makes our holiday such an easy, relaxed and comfortable week. We also hugely appreciate the new John Bray extras. It's a complete joy not having to think about bed linen; the white fluffy towels and crisp white cotton bedding are perfect and made-up beds for our arrival are heaven! It was also lovely to receive the welcome goodies, tea towels etc. Thank you also for the efficient admin, and quick handling of our hot water query at the beginning of our stay. We do hope we will be able to come back for year 4 next year! Hope the rest of the high season is good.
