"We have stayed at Heron four times."
The location is lovely and the parking is a bonus. However this year we were disappointed with how dirty the apartment was. We had to clean the fridge before we could use it. The oven is in desperate need of a clean. We used it once but the smell of old burnt food was overwhelming. There is a desperate lack of kitchen utensils, no decent frying pan for example, which along with the dirty oven made self catering a challenge. The bathroom is mouldy ( a point picked up in previous reviews) and has gotten worse over time. The furniture is also tired and the sofa was quite uncomfortable. The curtains are ripped ( as they were last year ). The rug is a trip hazard. As I said, a parking space is a bonus but this year the signs were all broken and it was unclear where to park . We returned one day to find no space which was really frustrating. I reported all these issues to the holiday company and in fairness they offered to redo the cleaning but we declined. I also reported the main issues again when we returned home, but no response hence this review. Heron has been our ‘go to’ place in St Ives and has represented good value for money but we shan’t return until there are improvements, but if you value location and lovely views across the harbour above all else this is probably the place for you.

"Nice flat, very centrally located and yet you don't notice the hustle and bustle just a few metres down the road."
The terrace is available to a total of four parties and in our case was used by someone all the time to dry swimwear and other stuff, so that it was hardly possible to use it. There can also be problems with the car park a few hundred metres away if other tenants use the wrong space, this should be better signposted. We accidentally locked ourselves out once (the doors are self-closing, which is not usual in Germany, where we come from), but this was resolved very quickly by the helpful hotline and immediate service.

"The property wasn’t well maintained - mould in bathroom, faulty shower, freezer door broken, windows dirty and not fully functional."
Coffee machine with no pods No antibacterial gel in bathrooms Internet just doesn’t work The bedroom is a nightmare as next doors light shines in through the window and blind all night keeping you awake Really felt like we paid for location and not the accommodation at all

"The apartment was in a good location a couple of minutes walk downhill to St."
Ives town.
The kitchen was well equipped with everything you could need.In the bedroom the bed didn’t seem big enough for a couple but it is only a small room.
The lounge had fabulous views from the front windows,but could do with
freshening up as could the patio area at the front.
It was ideal having a private parking space about a 5 minute walk away,although someone had parked in our allocated space so we parked in the space for Hepworth apartment as there was no one staying there.
We did have a lovely week there and would book again if these points were addressed.

"There is a light that goes on and off all night right outside the bedroom window."
It looks like it belongs to the neighbouring property as it is in the wall. My partner is a light sleeper so it woke him up several times. This might be a fault with the light which could be easily remedied and we just wanted to make the owners aware of it.

"Thank you for a wonderful stay at Heron over New Year."
It was exactly what we were looking for .. lovely views, fairly central (we know St Ives well, so were prepared for the short walk up the hill), and very well equipped and extremely comfortable.
Just FYI, it was a very wet weekend, and we noticed the carpet was a little damp as we came out of the bedroom. Looking up, we saw water drops coming from the top of the door frame. Not sure what that was about, but certainly did not cause any problems for us - probably just needs looking at though.
We had a great stay and would thoroughly recommend. Thanks again.

"I wasn't that impressed with the Heron!"
Shower was dirty! There were staines on the bed and cleanliness was poor through out. The only good thing was the view! In desperate need of a facelift!!!

"Brilliant location with everything within walking distance."
The Apartment was ideal for our needs. The only complaints we could have is the mattress was not the most comfortable & the shared patio could do with a revamp as this is what the window looked over. This apart we would definitely visit again.

"We had a lovely stay at Heron but there were a few things that i think need addressing."
Firstly the parking space, im not sure this should be advertised as including a parking space tbh. I was unable to use the parking space all holiday (BMW 4 series gran coupe) since the space left by the cars either side simply didnt leave enough space. Personally i dont think this is the fault of the drivers in either space. The allocated bay is next to an end space which is next to a big hedge. If they parked to leave enough space they wouldnt be able to manoeuvre their vehicle. I had to pay over £60 to park in a public car park for the week which unfortunately resulted in a dent in the side of my car, so not great. I normally select properties based on having private parking so this was disappointing based on the listing. The only other feedback point would be the bed. The mattress needs replacing asap , it slopes to one side and is not comfortable. On holiday a good nights sleep is a must so this needs sorting for future customers. Everything else was as expected.

"We arrived for a week in the heron apartment, upon entry through the door we were hit with a thick damp smell and when we looked to our left we noticed the window had been opened and yet in our friends apartment, no windows were open…suspicious."
We walked around the apartment and aired it out, we noticed the carpet was not correctly fitted/was coming up in the doorways. The fridge freezer door was broken, one of the towel radiators didn’t work which was frustrating but luckily one of them worked. Unfortunately the worst thing about the apartment was the bed, the springs have broken in the mattress meaning one side is higher than the other, so you were rolling out of bed or sleeping at an angle to try and stay in bed.

"Really enjoyed our stay in a beautiful apartment ."
Lovely views and very clean .Good location , 2 mins walk down the hill to the harbour and few mins away from shops in the centre. Had a problem with the bed . We did not get a good nights sleep all week as the bed very uncomfortable and woke with back ache every morning . The matress was very hard could be softer and thicker . Also need blackout blind at bedroom window as it looks on to neighbours back garden and when we was in bed at night the bedroom lit up with the outside sensor light when people walked past and i could see them . Had a problem with parking space as not enough room for us when the other cars got there first. Needs improvement on that .

"A charming flat which overlooked st Ives in possibly the best location you could ask for and only a few mins walk into the village / Town."
The apartment was well equipped for our stay. Including bedding and fluffy towels etc. Parking was a short 10 min walk from the property. Their are a few things that need to be addressed in the property for improvement: - the bed, the mattress is awful :( the bed is a small double (I believe) so we both ended up sleeping on our sides. - the WiFi (it only work in the communal corridor) the problem is the signal strength does not cater for the property and needs its own connection to a modem. The WiFi boosters simply do not offer any form of WiFi to the apartment. - final night of our stay the battery to the smoke alarm was going off ALL night - intermittent beeping (battery went). - bathroom mould on the ceiling, bathroom could do with a lick of paint. We do understand there is no window hence the reason for this happening. But requires addressing as a “luxury” apartment / flat. Overall a pleasant stay ( apart from the last night with the smoke alarm). “What 3 word” location ///cobbles.liberated.able for anyone who finds the property hard to find as couldn’t find on Google.

"Excellent apartment and location."
Everything we needed was there. A few points however, the living area had a strong smell of wet dog, even though we are dog owners ourselves, the Wi-Fi signal is terrible and needs looking at and the mattress really should be more comfortable for such a premium property. Other than those few points the stay was great.

"There are 2 key issues with this property."
The first is that internet coverage is very limited only really serving the living room.
The second is there was 1 standard wheelie bin for all 4 flats and no possibility to recycle.
We also had to still leave the flat as instructed with a broken dishwasher. Not ideal
