Beautifully and thoughtfully decorated throughout. Great communication from the owner, fully kitted out kitchen and information folder with suggestions of things to do. Will definitely recommend and look forward to returning!!!

Cannot recommend the property or place more highly. Everything you would want for a holiday home. Minutes from beaches, town centre & galleries & a lovely cream tea upstairs at Olive’s, to finish the holiday on a high. Thank you Greta. :)

  • "Our stay at The Sail Loft was absolutely amazing the accommodation was perfect for the 5 of us, perfect location within minutes walk to 1 of 3 beaches by us which our son loved."

The cottage had everything we wanted and needed you couldn't ask for more, comfortable beds, plenty of towels and our treat of a cornish tea from Greta went down a treat, the only small grumble was the noise from the cafe next door in a morning which is beyond Greta control and certainly wouldn't stop us staying here again Thank you so much for a lovely stay.

  • "This lovely property is very unique and comfortable."

Perfect location to pop to the harbour, shops and beaches. We really enjoyed our stay and loved the decor which was well thought out and quirky. I personally would say steps down to front door and wooden stairs not suitable for young children or elderly etc. Parking space a steep long walk away, but this didn't matter as we only used the car a few times.

  • "The location of the sail loft is ideal, you are less than 2 minutes walk to beaches and the harbour but still in a quiet location tucked away behind a little Cafe."

We didn't hear any noise from the cafe at any point. Property has no outside space but with us being so close to the beach this wasn't too much of an issue. The sail loft is accessible down some steep stone steps, we had a 2 year old with us and I myself am pregnant and found this a little tricky. Once down stairs into the property the kitchen and living space are specious, clean and lovely but not really any natural light with it being below ground. The bedrooms and bathroom where clean and fresh and a big bath tub was a bonus. The stairs however are in my opinion a bit dangerous. They are open wooden stairs with no rail or barrier at one side to stop you falling off. We had to be extremely careful with the 2 year old and I was very conscious myself going up and down. A simple hand rail would make this so much safer. Saying that the host was lovely and helpful, beds and bedding where lovely, lots of fresh towels and bits for the beach to use over your stay. I recommend this but maybe not with anyone who has little children or is a bit unsteady under foot.

  • "The cottage was lovely overall."

The decor was lovely, the bed linen felt really fresh and crisp, and the towels were deliciously huge. We loved the location and having the bonus free entry to the Tate etc and the delicious cream tea at Olives, was the icing on the cake! The only downside was that we didn’t find the sofas particularly comfortable because they were very soft and the cushions that you sit on aren’t anchored so slip forwards all of the time. Also there was quite a lot of transferred noise from adjoining properties, including what sounded like a huge tumble dryer or dishwasher that would go on until nearly 11pm. Greta was an extremely good host and sent loads of really useful information and was very understanding when we contacted her about an accident we had; which was fantastic and such a relief. So overall our experience was brilliant- thank you

Thank you for the feedback, we are glad to hear you had a lovely stay and we are sorry to hear about the noise from next door. We hope to see you again at The Sail Loft. Property Owner

  • "We spent an amazing here at the Sail Loft."

We have visited St Ives regularly over the last 25 years and this is a fantastic place to stay. Perfect location for the beaches and the best of the town. We brought along our dogs this time as in the past have struggled to find accommodation for the 2 dogs. The sleeping arrangements for our 2 teenagers was perfect too! Not having to share a room was a bonus for them! Will definitely recommend again and hopefully stay again next year! Thank you!

2 downsides, 1. No outside space and the stairs are a bit dodgy (open wooden staircase) but these did not spoil the great stay we had.

We had a family group of 5 staying and the property met all of our needs. We loved the fact that the Sail Loft was at the heart of the old town, only a few minutes walk away from the glorious beaches, the harbour, the cobbled streets with so many independent shops and with a real range of great places to eat and drink. It was our first visit to St Ives and the town had a lovely atmosphere and is suitable for all ages. The information provided on the property and area was spot on and the owner could not have been more helpful with excellent advance communication. We have no hesitation in recommending to others.

It is extremely comfortably accommodation. We had 5 adults staying and everyone was pleased with the bedrooms and living space. We were also fortunate to have wall to wall sunshine so the wet room by the entrance was very welcome for showering off after a day at the beach.

  • "The Sail Loft is beautifully decorated, lovingly furnished and very clean."

We have had a very relaxing holiday with our grown-up kids and our family dog. We visited quite a few of our usual places such as Newquay, Falmouth, Truro and new places such as Penzance which we travelled to by train. Wished we had used the train earlier on in our holiday as I think we would have used it more. We normally stay at Portreath but it has been brilliant to be able to have St Ives as a base as opposed to somewhere we would just visit for a few hours. We enjoyed visiting the Tate Gallery the views of St Ives from inside the building are definitely worth seeing.

We actually have our own flat in Back Road East that we had already rented out, and we both agree that the standard of communications and information that Greta and Sykes provided was excellent. The house itself is perfectly located and the furnishing very tasteful and warm. I hope you don't mind but the only thing that we felt should be upgraded was the TV. Tech has moved so quickly over the last few years and I think a new smart TV would fit in well in such a great cottage. Many thanks Simon and Vivien

Thank you so much for the lovely feedback - and you were right, our TV was very outdated! Your feedback has prompted us to install a shiny new Smart TV. Thanks again and best wishes, Greta Property Owner

It did feel a little bit like being on a boat but that was all part of the fun of the accommodation. The owner, Greta, provided lots of useful information before our arrival and Geraldine, the house keeper, was also very helpful. The location is great, close to the the harbour but also quiet, the beds are amazingly comfortable and the little extras were an additional treat. Having the use of a parking space in St Ives is like gold dust and the complimentary cream tea at Olive's Cafe was delicious. We had a great holiday with St Ives working it's Cornish magic once again!

The property

In the heart of the stunning coastal town of St Ives, in a brilliantly central location with three fantastic beaches within walking distance and the stunning harbour just a stones’ throw away, is The Sail Loft.

Once used as storage for fisherman's sails and nets, the property is now beautifully and creatively converted to offer a unique, spacious and stylish three-bedroom home.

Seven steps from the lane lead down to a large open plan living/dining/kitchen with well equipped kitchen, beamed ceiling (formed from ships masts!) and flagstone floors; the perfect spot for making plans for the day whilst sat around the large dining table or hunkering down on the sofa after a busy day exploring the coastal paths and local beaches.

From the sitting-room a door leads to a good-sized twin bedroom (or king) and open tread, open sided stairs lead up to two further elegant double bedrooms with high ceilings plus a swish family bathroom.

There’s an additional wet room and loo by the entrance – perfectly placed for rinsing off salt and sandy adventure.

On arrival, once you've negotiated the maze of streets, you can unload right outside the cottage and there is a parking space reserved at the St Ives Rugby Club located around 20 minutes on foot from the house.

Once you've parked your car, St Ives has so much to offer it's unlikely you'll want to use it again until you go home!

Well placed for exploring the excellent local eateries, traditional inns and coffee houses on the waterfront overlooking the boats in the harbour, exploring the cobbled streets full of galleries (including the Tate modern) and boutique shops or watching the azure surf action on Porthmeor beach or enjoying the water sports at Porthminster this is a brilliant base all year round for families and couples searching for a holiday in this favoured Cornish town.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.

One of Cornwall's prettiest harbour towns, St Ives offers narrow streets, tight-packed cottages nestling around the quayside, the Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth museum, fabulous beaches, superb shops, a thriving community of artists, great pubs and restaurants and much more. With its semi Bohemian lifestyle and romantic air, it's easy to see why this is the county's premier holiday resort. The surrounding area has much for the visitor to see and do with abundant wildlife, fabulous coastal walks, top quality surfing and the Celtic mysteries of the Land's End Peninsula are all within easy reach.
