  • "I'm very surprised I've not heard back from anyone regarding our stay at Tregenna house."

I'm assuming our point of contact (Donna) hasn't reported back to the powers above the ordeal we experienced. In all the years of booking places to stay I've never been so disappointed. I await for someone to call and discuss this matter further.

  • "The location is the key factor of this property, but for something supposedly 5* I think it needs some work, particularly on the garden and kitchen facilities."

The garden was full of huge weeds - it’s not a big space so the giant stinging nettles made it hard to enjoy. Also there was a white awning that had clearly been left up throughout all weather as it was green and mouldy and half hanging down. We didn’t use the garden at all which was a real shame as we were there in peak summer. The kitchen had one wine glass when we arrived. More were sent after I got in touch with the owner but not great for a holiday property. Also it was lacking things like decent pans (we had to buy a large one as they were all very small) - when you’re staying in a 4 bed property this isn’t great. There were other small issues like the shower letting a lot of water into the bathroom and the rubbish not being collected until we had to request it. All in all, I wouldn’t say this property is worth the price tag unfortunately.

  • "Door on upstairs bathroom needs replacing Both bathroom doors need locks on!"

Microwave at a dangerous height over 6ft Rusty garden furniture needs relocating to tip Heating should be prerogative of tenants who should not have to fight with the owners who have clearly got an app and their own ideas about how warm the house should be. Parking is a mile away up the the north face of the Eiger! But great location and nice place.

Thank you for your feedback. We note your point regarding locks on the bathrooms, however we have a lot of guests stay at the property with young children who are concerned about their children locking themselves in the bathrooms and so no locks are on the doors for this reason. New garden furniture is ordered for the spring to replace the current set. The heating is not on an app but is set to 21 degrees in the morning and evening and 19 degrees during the day. If this is adjusted the thermostat will revert back to its set temperature. Had this been raised during your stay we could have asked the housekeeper to adjust the settings for you. As is stated in the listing the car parking is 0.4 miles from the property. Parking in st ives is at a premium and so we are pleased to be able to provide two large spaces for our guests, as many other properties are unable to do so. As with much of Cornwall, st ives is a fairly hilly town. We are glad you liked the location and thought the property was a nice place. Property Owner

  • "A lovely cottage with all the facilities."

Decorated to a high standard although there are some signs of wear and tear. The garden table and chairs could not be used as they were very rusty and had bits peeling off them and the upstairs bathroom door was a bit rickerty and did not close properly. Also one of the kitchen cabinets was broken so didn’t close fully. When we got there on the Friday the rubbish from previous tenants had not been removed and we had to call the letting company to get it collected which wasn’t done until Tuesday. We did have a lovely stay however.

Thank you for your feedback. Following this and other feedback we have changed housekeeper to ensure that niggles and wear and tear is properly addressed and so that the property is presented to the best possible standard to guests. The bathroom door has now been repaired and the table and chairs in the garden are in the process of being replaced. Property Owner

  • "Could be a perfect property if a few maintenance problems were fixed."

The sliding bathroom door was completely jammed which made the upstairs bathroom unusable because of lack of privacy . The large glass doors were absolutely filthy. And the garden was in a very shabby state plus the rubbish from the previous occupants had not been removed. I phoned the cleaning company who did remove the rubbish and said she would contact the owner with the other problems. The other issues were never corrected the whole time we were there. We did contact Sykes and dealt with Chloe although she tried to be helpful she didn’t come up with any solutions to the problems. The property is in a great location and is decorated to a high standard the outside shower is great to get sand off before going inside and the area to keep beach equipment is so useful. We also made good use of the two car parking spaces provided. This is a very good property just let down by the maintenance issues and lack of communication from the owner.

Thank you for your feedback. Following this and other feedback we have changed housekeeper to ensure that the issues raised do not occur in future. This change will also ensure that the property is presented to the best possible standard to guests and any future issues are resolved quickly to ensure that such issues do not arise in the future and guests experience the perfect property that you state it can be. Unfortunately, as the housekeeper was not informing the owner of issues, it was not possible to rectify these promptly. This issue is now resolved. The bathroom door has also now been repaired. Penzance 6 miles.

One of Cornwall's prettiest harbour towns, St Ives offers narrow streets, tight-packed cottages nestling around the quayside, the Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth museum, fabulous beaches, superb shops, a thriving community of artists, great pubs and restaurants and much more. With its semi Bohemian lifestyle and romantic air, it's easy to see why this is the county's premier holiday resort. The surrounding area has much for the visitor to see and do with abundant wildlife, fabulous coastal walks, top quality surfing and the Celtic mysteries of the Land's End Peninsula are all within easy reach.
