  • "Treetops met all our needs, the views were quite spectacular waking up to the sunrises and seeing the sunsets over the bay was breathtaking."

Correcting another review the temperature could be easily adjusted via the thermostat in the kitchen. The access down to the property was tight, however we had two large vehicles and found no problem parking 3 vehicles. The shortcut down to the SW coast path was great which one way took us to St Ives at 15 mins and Carbis Bay at 10 mins walk. Recommend La Casita in Carbis Bay for genuine Spanish tapas and paella. We feel we need to address the communication at the beginning of the holiday, we received a message from the owners that we felt was rather threatening regarding dogs, asking us to not use the lawn and other restrictions finishing with a threat of a £50 fine if broken. If these were addressed before booking we may have thought differently about staying. The same language was used throughout the instructions in the handbook, even having a paragraph on self tan and makeup. For a relaxed holiday this communication needs to be looked at. So in the end the property was fabulous, the owners need to relax.

Dear Mr Young I am glad you enjoyed your stay at Treetops and were impressed enough to give it a 5 * rating. I am sorry you found the tone of the messages threatening.. they certainly aren’t intended to be interpreted as such! The majority of our guests find a balance between feeling at home in Treetops whilst treating the house and its contents with respect and you are obviously one of these. Occasionally we have guests who do not. We do not charge for dogs where most other similar properties often charge up to £50 per dog and we wish to be able to continue with this policy. I would however like to commend you for having read the information pack.. very few people do. I hope you will return in the future.. I’m off to my meditation class now. • "Fabulous holiday home - just perfect for our big family celebration."

Stunning location, views to die for, everything we needed for a wonderful week away. Just perfect! Would go again in a heartbeat! What a nice surprise that we could walk through the garden and onto the path to Carbis Bay hotel and beach - it was much closer than we expected. Nothing negative to say but one request would be more mirrors generally and perhaps a full length mirror in the main bedroom as there was only one very tiny mirror on the bedroom wall.

Thank you so much for you very complimentary review.. I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and that you found Smugglers Path! I hope you will be able to return one day. Thank you for the suggestion about a mirror.. I will reflect on it ! Kind regards Lynn Marsden Property Owner

  • "Lovely comfortable home in a fabulous position We had a great time at Treetops."

there was plenty of space for our party of 6 to spread out and spend time together or alone. The views were fabulous, especially from the upstairs living area. The house is really comfortable, clean and beautifully presented but not so perfect that you can’t relax. It’s in an ideal position to walk to St Ives or Carbis Bay on the coast path with a big Tesco just a short walk up the hill. Previous reviews have mentioned problems when trying to contact Sykes but our experience was very positive. There was an issue with the boiler midweek which meant there was no hot water or heating in the morning. Sykes answered the phone promptly and, after checking with the owner, sent a plumber, followed by an electrician and all was sorted by tea time. It may have been different if I’d called at a weekend but my thanks to Sykes and the owner for sorting that so promptly.

Many thanks for your positive feedback. I am pleased CBH were able to sort out the problem you experienced and hope that it did not detract from your enjoyment of Treetops. I hope that you will return in the future. Lynn Marsden Property Owner

  • "This property is amazing."

And I would definitely recommend it, it was a real find. Sykes Cottages on the other hand were a complete let down. I called, I whatsapped and messaged on their website as per their requests on any automated response. We had an issue with the heating and plug sockets. I never received a response so I don't know what Sykes Cottages reason was. Other then they were too busy from the auto messages said, I think I first tried to contact them on the Wednesday or Thursday, we were there Saturday to Saturday so fairly large chunk of the holiday we needed some help. I had 4 young children with me and 2 80 year olds with me and the weather was not the greatest so really would have been nice to feel like someone was interested and there to help, interestingly when I was asking about payment they were quick to respond to that. I don't suppose they will let this be published because I get their sense their ethos is to do what works for them. I really want to book this property for next year but I don't think I can put my holiday in the hands of Sykes Cottages. We have been back a few weeks now still nothing. Very dissappointing!

One of the best holiday homes we have stayed in, and we have stayed in many. There were only two things we would point out. The heating could have been set a little higher as the weather was quite cold. We would also recommend a grit bin for the driveway. The day we left, we had to spread table salt up the drive to gain grip to get out. A minor issue really, as we would have happily stayed longer if we were 'stuck'! Thank you for making our daughter's 30th birthday so special. We will be back!

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are thrilled to hear that you loved the property and your stay. We are sorry to hear that the heating wasn’t too warm, you are of course able to adjust this during your stay, please give us a call if you struggle with doing so! • "Arrived to find house and garden in darkness."

Not a great welcome after a long drive, front door was then difficult to open. Settled in and then found a third of the house had no power which included the SKY tv set up. Reported the issue and was told nothing could be done until Monday. Not impressed for a property like this. House is stunning, well prepared by the cleaning team, sumptuous towels and very comfy bedrooms. Stunning views but there are some issues. Shower in the en suite is poor, needs grouting cleaned up and a power shower to fit in with the rest of the room. Settees aren't that comfortable which takes the edge off looking at the great views. The leather sofa could do with some good cushions. The kitchen frying pans all need replacing as they are at the end of there lifespan and no longer non stick. The dining plates also need replacing. This is a stunning house but it needs some updating. I appreciate the impact of Covid but if you charge top fees then you need to keep everything in keeping with the luxury feel that most of the property has. Some beach towels would be a nice touch. Please don't think we didn't enjoy our week because of the above feedback it's intended to help as most people are over positive when writing reviews which doesn't help anyone.

Thank you very much for your Feedback following your recent holiday at Treetops and we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry to hear some of the electrics had tripped due to the severe weather conditions at the time, we understand that the Electrician attended on the Monday as we were advised that the issue was not essential and that it would be fine for someone to attend when practical. Please be assured, if we had been notified that the issue was urgent this would have been addressed immediately. Thank you also for your additional points and suggestions, we have passed these on to the team that look after the property for their attention and consideration. We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future. Kind regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team. We would of loved to of used it, so maybe having this info put into booking confirmation details or even a log store out around the garden somewhere could be an idea. Apart from that no complaints, we'll be back again one day.
