  • "Thank you very much for a lovely stay at Sunnyvale, the main bedroom was particularly comfortable, we slept so well with the blackout blind, comfy bed and bedding, towels first class too."

The ensuite shower was good, we didn’t use the ground floor shower which I gathered is not so good. Sunnyvale had a nice ambient temperature, it stayed warm during a few wet days we had. We appreciated the quiet, peaceful location and the new garden furniture. We didn’t use the oven, the hob was fine, but a new oven no doubt will be appreciated by future guests. And we reaped the benefits of a new tv and seemingly improved wifi. We would return to Sunnyvale, if only to get a good night’s sleep!

  • "All decals for oven and hob are missing and have been for over a year - owner dismissive."

Very low ceilings and doorways - i am 5’7 and hit head if wearing trainers. No wifi or internet for 4 days - owner lied about reason for no wifi and from guest book and cleaner it was known problem before arrival and no internet meant no tv as a smart TV. Shower drain was blocked and i had to clean, freezer totally frozen up so unable to function - needs to be completely defrosted, 2 slice toaster for cottage for 7- we were not expected so had to wait in for cleaner to return first day with arrival pack (no toilet roll on arrival) and then left having to spend holiday time supervising BT technician for a few hours after multiple phonecalls - spoilt first 4 days of holiday but given £75(10%) compensation for a weeks holiday or told to take owner to small claims court. No idea when covers over seats were last washed and changed. Shame as this house has a wonderful historic feel and comfy beds and such potential - shame owner does not consider his customers

Thank you for saying that the cottage has a wonderful historic feel and comfy beds. We love it there, so any positive comment is really appreciated. We are obviously very sorry that other aspects of Sunnyvale did not work for you. We genuinely take all comments seriously and try to improve - so thanks for taking the time to offer your feedback. 1.decals oven and hob: as you say, we are aware of this and the cooker is being replaced shortly. Having said that, it takes less than a minute to work out which knob works which hob and that is why we are waiting until the end of the summer. 2.Low ceilings: yes,it is a 300 year old cottage. 3. Wi-Fi: as soon as we were aware of a problem we contacted BT the provider who sent an engineer as soon as possible. It turned out that there was a fault on the line and no one, but BT, could have known that. There was no misleading and there was no alternative but to engage the BT Engineer who fixed the problem. We arranged for a neighbour to meet the BT Engineer at Sunnyvale so there was no need to spend time supervising. Yes, we offered compensation for the lack of Wi Fi having discussed with Sykes, but there was no other remedy discussed. 4. Shower, freezer, toaster, welcome pack: the toaster was replaced; the freezer was dethawed on the same day when notified; the welcome pack came an hour late, for which apologies and PURE were unaware of a problem with the shower drain. • "On arrival the bins were overflowing and other bags of rubbish as well as a rag doll and body board in front of entry gate Dirty cups, plates, & bowls."

We had to put all in the dishwasher before getting a drink. The oven still difficult to use as no temperature gauge which has veen ongoing for over 12 months. In the visitors book there was a comment about this in September 2023!!! We sat down to watch TV but not set up -when we tried it would not respond. When we rang Pure ( housekeeper manager) next day they could not help. She did say it worked off wi fi. The Wi-Fi was intermittent. On Friday ( day before we left) a technician arrived from Open reach to fit a new cable for the wi fi.This did not improve situation re TV. On the positive side the beds were very comfy. Rusudgeon is a lovely place and will definitely return.

Thank you Robert for saying how lovely Rosudgeon is and that is something we do agree on. It is unfortunate that you have left such a disappointing review overall which is not consistent with the reviews of others and so to respond to your points: firstly, the collection day for waste is on a Thursday and so there may be some rubbish in the bins until it is collected. Secondly, having checked with PURE they do clean all crockery and cutlery, but it’s not always turned around every changeover. This has been picked up and should not happen again. Thirdly the oven works perfectly well and the only issue is which knob works which hob, although, anyway, it will be replaced shortly. Fourthly, as soon as there was an issue with Wi-Fi, which due to Sunnyvale being in a remote location is not always consistent, the engineer from Open Reach was called, as you have mentioned, and the fault was fixed. • "Thank you. We had an amazing week."

Sunnyvale cottage was a delight. Beds were comfortable. Living area was homely and comfortable. It was a great place to come back to after a day of activity. The cooker was a challenge initially but thanks to previous reviews we were prepared for this. The garden was beautiful. Thank you for the welcome pack. The location is great. We walked to Prussia Cove several evenings. A very pleasant walk.

  • "We loved our stay at Sunnyvale."

The beds were comfortable, there was plenty of space for our family, the garden was beautiful. So much nature! The butterflies, bees and birds were everywhere, we had a fox that visited and bats in the garden! We loved it. We visited Prussia Cove, Penzance, went on a boat trip, went to St.Michaels mount, we made the most of our stay. The only thing I would say is that the "labels" that are written on the oven have worn off. I think written instructions need to be provided as it took us a couple of attempts to work it out which did result in burnt food. Other than that we had a fantastic week.

Thanks for your feedback Kate and that is marvellous. I am so glad you had a nice time at Sunnyvale. You are absolutely right and, although we did try to put back those labels onto the cooker, they have obviously faded off again. The oven and hobs will be replaced …if you can come back next summer? I hope you can and you will notice the difference. Richard Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage in a great location with a great garden."

A couple of negative points, the downstairs shower is very weak and some of the garden furniture is old and needs replacing. That said we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Thank you Jonathan for your kind comments. I’m really glad you enjoyed the stay and make sure you book up for next summer as the dates are going quickly. You are absolutely right about those two things and I am visiting next week to replace the garden furniture. The shower downstairs is a bit more tricky as we need to find the right power enhancer, but I’m confident that we will. Very best wishes. Property Owner

  • "This is a fabulous house and garden."

Our holiday was marred by the frustrations of catering with the cooking facilities. The inadequate oven has been reviewed many times and the owners really do need to replace it - together with a leaking dishwasher and iced up freezer this was very annoying. The downstairs shower is so weak it is unusable. 7 people ended up using the shower in the tiny en-suite bathroom . The WiFi is weak and intermittent . There is nowhere to hang washing outdoors - needed on return from beach with wetsuits and swimwear. Outdoor seating is broken and dirty- there is nowhere to eat outdoors in the wonderful garden . All these points have been raised by other customers in the past.

Thank you for your comments and these are really helpful constructive points which we will work on. We do take into account all comments and I work through improvements as soon as I can. I am glad you thought Sunnyvale a fabulous house and garden and I agree it is unique. On all of your points I comment: yes the oven Is fairly old but it does work : we will look at replacing it shortly; we will attend immediately to any leaks and underpowered plumbing with our maintenance company; the freezer and fridge will be checked; there is an airer which can be taken outside as well as inside for drying clothing and a washing line will be put in place. We will check the outdoor seating. and replace it if it is broken and it will be cleaned. Thanks again for these points. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage plenty of space for 7 people."

Garden and location are brilliant. Really close to lovely beaches and coves. The lane leading to it is not too bad as cornish lanes go for passing places. We ate at the coach and horses one evening and all enjoyed our meal. The coop on the main road is very handy for essentials and is open 7 till 11 most days even on Easter Sunday. All of the adults ended up using the ensuite shower as the one downstairs had very low water pressure. Hob and oven are as others have said could do with being replaced. We had to switch the hob off at the wall in order for one of the rings to turn off. Some instructions would be useful for heaters as it was cold when we arrived. Some local info leaflets would be handy for tourist attractions and the local takeaways.

Thank you very much for your review and really glad you enjoyed it: the points are noted and we will look into those things as soon as we can, Kind regards - The Property Owner Property Owner

  • "Lovely holiday home."

Location was amazing for us, with easy access to footpaths, coast paths and the local areas & beaches. Very comfortable beds and very clean property. The property who be enhanced with an upgraded cooker / hob (unable to see the dials as they had bene worn off through use), and some decent garden furniture to make the most of the beautiful gardens. (Although this did not affect our holiday). We are planning to stay again.

  • "Lovely cottage and setting."

Comfortable sofas, beds and good quality linen. The oven was virtually unusable and garden furniture in a sorry state. In the absence of information about bin collection Pure were contacted but never got back to us and an attempt to email them was blocked. Parking would have been extremely tight for two cars.

  • "No King size bed late turning up to open not properly cleaned did not want to clean for the second week no toilet rolls more pillow in a newspaper only one pan Toilet seat very loose and dripping bath tap."

but the worst was the 2 gardens were unusable as there was 34 piles of dog poo disgusting also large part of garden was out of bounds. The dog poo was dangerous for anyone with small children

We were made aware of this problem, and immediately tackled it with both our housekeepers and our gardener. This was outside our control, but sorted as soon as we knew it was a problem. We have put in place systems to ensure this does not happen in the future. Obviously, we are very surprised by the feedback and we apologize for any inconvenience. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay, the cottage is lovely and the garden is wonderful."

We loved the location and the space the cottage allowed us particularly as we had two parents and four teenagers. We loved the footpath down to the cove and think this could be a huge selling point that is not mentioned. Just a few comments to help improve the stay. There is no mention of low ceilings and as most of us were 6ft or over there were lots of head injuries. The kitchen wasn’t great. The oven has no dial information and no guide how to use it. The utensils eg the baking trays, only one fitted the oven. Could also do with more cutlery. The shower in the utility was very low on pressure. The garden was not fully enclosed and no mention of the areas you can’t access. Thankfully our dogs are well behaved but other dogs could jump the gates into the pond. There is also barbed wire and broken metal fencing by the footpath that could injure a dog. Also there are gaps by the gate which dogs could get through when the cows are coming in for milking.

Fabulous location Fabulous house and garden we really had a fantastic time Feed back gor improving things Could do with a shower in the main bathroom up the stairs Could you put a bump protector on the door way from hall to dining room everyone banged their heads on this, especially on arrival and not used to low doorways Overall the property was clean and comfortable although the ensuite shower kept backing up, we had to clean this out it hadn't been cleaned in a while The garden could do with a fence around it to make it fully secure for a dog

Decent outdoor furniture would have been nice as we had glorious weather but nowhere to eat outside, or even sit comfortably. I think some small investment in this would make this house just fantastic.
