The location is ideal for visiting cornwalls various beaches, harbour towns as well as the main places like Newquay and Penzance. If you're looking for places to visit or local tea rooms or pub restaurants the owner's know the area really well and can recommend really good places to eat and drink. We really enjoyed our stay there as did our dog Ruby, we would recommend it to anybody looking for a nice pet friendly place to stay.

The owners, Ian & Dawn were very friendly and always willing to help with directions to the many attractions in the area and a mine full if information regarding the best resturaunts, local pubs and best travel routes etc. Though we didn't have a dog with us doga are also very welcome and Ian & dogs 3 beautiful Springer Spanials always greeted us with a lovely welcome ( in return for a throw of a ball and a belly rub of course )

As before,in their other property,The Stable, was very clean, tidy and comfortable and we found that it did not lack any of the basics for general cooking or for keeping the place clean. We slept well but would have liked a slightly harder mattress. The Stable provides an excellent base for access to local attractions etc.Our dog loved the garden across the drive for ball chasing .We have never met such friendly and helpful owners;they dealt with minor issues very quickly and they always had time for a friendly chat or to give advice about a local attraction. We would ,without hesitation, book another holiday at one of their centres.

Hot tub was a nice bonus to unwind in after a busy day of walking too! Lots of lovely walks along the coastal path on the doorstep. A walk to Perranuthnoe beach is a must. Such a beautiful little beach/cove with 2 lovely cafes. We especially liked The Cabin Beach cafe as it had beautiful views over the beach. We loved watching the surfers with a coffee and ice cream! Lots of places to visit within easy reach. Would highly recommend catching the train into St Ives from St Erth (dogs allowed on too). It was much cheaper and stress free (thanks for the recommendation Dawn!). Ian and Dawn (and the dogs!) were very welcoming and friendly. Lovely quiet surroundings, perfect for a much needed getaway for me, hubby and our little dog

  • "As seasoned travelers and at that age to know better, it was somewhat a deflating moment in all honesty."

The price was high and the amenities were somewhat lacking. My first encounter with the owner was also disappointing as our holiday property boasted of a BBQ and a hot tub. Well the BBQ was just the basic brick built effort with a metal grill for which you could place a throw away BBQ set that you would have to purchase. Jokingly I said to the owner what about yours which was the top of the range gas BBQ, and the face said it all. It didn't end there either. The double bed was soft and clearly seen better days, as for the pull out settee that was in the living room was a newish leather settee, that was fixed, and was rock hard, with very little give. The shower room was a little run down and could have done with a spruce up, but it was adequate. My snag list would be. Attention to detail and it would start in the shower room which looked a little run down the ventilation was poor and the shower unit wasn't that user friend to operate. In the kitchen and living area, it was super compact and had limited workspace to use in preparing food. Whilst we all understand that no place will ever tick every box, this place for us was below what we have experienced anywhere else, and that is saying something. The patio was cramp, and the hot tub cover wasn't easy to operate without the need of a second person. A tip would be to offer a small child's fishing net to clear out all the dead flies as a hot tub seems to be a magnet for them. Air Con would be a positive step in the right direction for these people to up their game, but other than that we were relieved to leave early, than our departure date. I do wish them well, but retrospectively, they do need to remember that holiday makers still want the creature comforts of home too. Regards Denis Brown

Hi, I’m sorry to read your disappointment in the feedback, plenty of photos on website showing exactly what you get! It sleeps 2 so is compact and there is no mention anywhere of a pull out sofa?? As for our bbq I bought it off a local selling page for £50 and clean it myself after use! As you can imagine if a gas bbq was in place to use this wouldn’t be cleaned by every guest that leaves! We’ve witnessed many happy guests using disposable bbqs over 9 years. We do go away on holiday so do know what to compare with! Beds are so personal that we are always happy to return to our home Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our stay due to the location of the property and the hot tub but an essential improvement needs to be made to the bed."

Please can I suggest replacing the mattress. Neither my husband or I had a good nights sleep throughout our stay due to the very uncomfortable mattress! Despite the bed having a mattress topper, it was still incredibly uncomfortable. Please could I also suggest having blackout curtains in the bedroom and the door to the bedroom needs to be addressed so it can close easily, which is important in trying to keep your dog out of the bedroom, as requested in the property guidelines.

  • "Me, my partner and my 6 month old daughter really enjoyed our stay at the stable."

Ian and Dawn were very welcoming and helpful. They advised us to go to st Ives by train and I’m so glad we did as car parking would have been a pain. We even had a few visits from there lovely dogs. The property was perfect for us and had everything you could want. There’s a dvd player so I advice to take some dvds for the quieter/ relaxing evenings. The hot tub was amazing and nice a private. It was also checked everyday to keep it nice and clean. Would 100% stay again. The only thing I can complain about is that there’s a very low wall next to the property that should probably be built higher or have a post at the end of it. This is because you cannot see it out the windscreen of your car (especially in the dark) and I scratch my bumper on it. Thank you for a lovely stay

Lovely friendly helpful owners with nice doggies of their own that are also friendly! I loved that Dawn had horses too, in particular the white one that liked to neigh to you as a hello! Private use of the garden was great, just a few steps from the private courtyard. All dog safe. Dawn got us some garden chairs and put them in the garden because you do get the sun in there. Our dog loved it because it’s was long enough for a ball throwing session. Loads of parking. Supermarkets plenty a short drive away and the Co op walking distance. Had dinner at The Coach And Horses a couple of times. Recommend. Went into Newlyn about 3 times. Good fish and chips cooked to order and also the visit he Mackerel Sky fish bistro..... no bookings taken you just turn up. Hot tub was used every day and always hot. (It’s does make a humming sound in the night but we ignored that). Shower room a good size with strong shower and heated towel rail you can turn on if needed. Kitchen equipped enough and has a dishwasher but we tend to was up by hand.....old habits die hard, lol. Bed was comfortable enough for us if a bit small. Other half is quite a big guy. Not heavy just broad. All locals we spoke to were friendly and recommended walks. Weather wasn’t that good but we had a relaxing break. Even if weather not great it’s still good to be in the 38 degree bubbles. Thanks Ian and Dawn xx

The accommodation was very clean, there were instruction manuals for dishwasher, washing machine, cooker and microwave, which in all the years I've done self catering this is the first time I've seen this. The mattress was a little bit soft for me and my husband and because of previous feedback about the pillows being to soft I took my own very expensive pillow but left it there, Dawn has kindly said she will post it back to me, if it had been a cheap pillow I won't have bothered asking them to send it back. As you come out on to the main road and turn right there is a chip shop a bit further on is a co-op and further on again there is the coach & horses, the food was very enjoyable, booking advised. Turn left onto the main road from the accommodation and there is a all you can eat Chinese restaurants, cant comment on the food as we didn't go there. Because of the weather we only used the hot tub a couple of times, the heat was kept at a steady 38, the levels were checked daily by Dawn. All in all it was a very relaxing stay just what we wanted.

The property is in an ideal position and the access to the coastal path is great. However, we left the property 2 days early due to lack of sleep. The cottage was very warm even though we turned off all the radiators. The bedroom was too hot in the evenings but you couldnt open the window due to the hot tub being directly outside it and the motor whirred all night. so either you didnt sleep as you were too hot or you didnt sleep because of the motor. First time in over 40 years of self catering holidays that we have returned home early. Very disappointed as this was a holiday we deferred from 2020!

Thank you for your comments, and that you appreciate the warm welcome we gave. We are glad you enjoyed the location. We were not aware of any issue while you there, our contact numbers are in the welcome pack and the first we knew of any issue was when you had left. We checked the property after you left and found the towel rail in the bathroom on full heat and this may have impacted the temperature in the property and we would have been happy to advise you how to turn it back off if we had known. The hot tub like most hot tubs does have a motor and we are sorry you felt you could not open the bedroom window due to hearing the motor which runs to ensure that the hot tub is working. We could have turned the hot tub motor off overnight if you had requested this, although this would have further impacted any use of the hot tub. However the property does have other windows which could have been opened to allow for air to circulate through the property for ventilation. We would have been more than happy to discuss the issue at the time and Sykes also have a dedicated in property team for guests who have any concerns and we are sorry that you chose not to give us or Sykes the opportunity to help at the time.
