  • "Beautifully furnished cottage."

Biscuits, milk, tea etc left for us on arrival were very welcome after a long journey. Excellent location for exploring Cornwall.

Thank you for taking the trouble to leave feedback. Your positive comments are appreciated. As you say, an excellent location for exploring Cornwall. Hope to see you again soon. Property Owner

  • "No mention Of Steps leading to property."

or the 13 steps down to the Sitting and Shower Room. No Good for the Elderly, Infirm & Disabled Plus beds were much too high. This was my worse Sykes Holiday ever. Visitors 2 doors along had 4 dogs, if we left out door ajar for fresh air, then they were in and running in every room, even the woman running in shouting sorry, as it disturbed me,as I didn't know that she was there. also male dog cocked his leg just outside our door. I repeat NOT SUITABLE FOR ELDERLY, INFIRM OR DISABLED

Thank you for your feedback and the top marks for cleanliness and comfort. That said, we were disappointed to see that your experience was not as you either anticipated or should have been. Only 2 of our cottages take pets, where the maximum is 2 per cottage and there are strict instructions for these to be kept on a lead. It is frustrating for us to learn that a guest flouted both of these requests and for that we are really sorry. We worked closely with Sykes when they put our listing together. Our listing, with photographs which showed the 5 steps upto the cottages also included in it's description that both the 2nd bathroom with the shower and the living room were located on the lower ground floor. We will review the description to see how we can improve this for the future. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely time, only things we would say is that some of the door handles and locks were problematic and that there were some stains on carpets, but considering it allows pets, this is understandable."

Overall though, we enjoyed our stay, and felt that the property was well equipped, (maybe some wooden spoons and a larger saucepan would be a great addition) the beds were comfortable, and property was spacious. Thank you for coffee, tea, milk and biscuits, we were very pleased to be able to have a cup of tea on arrival before unpacking. Definitely recommend!

Many thanks for taking the trouble to leave feedback and we were pleased you would "definitely recommend". We will take a look at the locks and door handles to ensure all are in working order. Hope to see you again soon. Property Owner

  • "Wheal Prosper was a lovely place to stay."

The accommodation was comfortable and clean, it looks like the photos. We had everything we needed. It was close enough to most of Cornwall that everything was within a reasonable driving distance. We had our dogs with us and they we considered in the equipment available, water bowl and blankets. There is a good dog walk in Roche at the cricket ground if taking dogs and they need a run off lead. Thank you, we'll be back for another visit!

  • "All the locks on the toilet doors failed to operate."

Not enough pots of various size in kitchen One of the toilet seats was unstable . On the whole a very nice property and good value .

Thanks for the feedback and we were pleased you found it a nice property and good value. Apologies for the failure of the locks. The new downstairs shower room was only commissioned in March, so the fact that lock was not working as it should, as well as the seat being unstable, is just as disappointing to us. We keep under review all the feedback we receive, with a view to constantly improving and making the West Dry a great place to stay. Thank you. Property Owner

  • "Great place to stay, spotless throughout."

Loved the new downstairs shower room. Comfy beds. Only problem was with the oven, it took ages to cook anything in it and the temperature had to be up high. Also it would be handy to have some extra storage for food in a cupboard.

So glad you had a great stay and appreciated the new shower room. We will review your feedback to see what further improvements can be made. Hope to see you again soon. Property Owner

  • "Wonderful stay, we couldn't have asked for better accommodation for our week away in Cornwall."

We would 100% stay again. We arrived very late but no issues with the lock box and was very happy to see a lovely welcome package of bread, milk and biscuits waiting for us - thank you! Such a good location, two local pubs which were both tried for food and can recommend. We even did the pub quiz! Our dog Alfie had a great time too. The wheal had everything facility wise we could ask for - the only thing we could note is that it could do with a coat hooks in the kitchen.

Thank you for finding the time to leave feedback. We are so pleased you all enjoyed your stay - including Alfie - and thank for your helpful suggestion. Hope to see you again soon. Property Owner

  • "We had an amazing week at Wheal Prosper."

The cottage is clean, well equipped and centrally located, which are the main things we look for when choosing a holiday cottage. The sofa and beds were particularly comfortable. The only things missing are a second bathroom and an in-house washing machine. The complex is served by a laundrette.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay in Wheal Prosper. As you mentioned it is ideally centrally located for visiting many beaches and attractions such as the Eden Project. We invested in new furniture throughout when we took over the cottages nine months ago. Our intention was to provide guests with comfortable beds for a good night's sleep, as well as comfortable sofas to relax on, so we are glad this had the desired effect for you. Property Owner

The property

Charlestown 7 miles.

Resting on the outskirts of St Austell, Cornwall is this delightful property.

Part of an historical building that is brimming with character.

As well as being close to an array of Cornwall's finest sights, Wheal Prosper is a wonderful base for a family of six.

Just 7 miles from Charlestown with it's historical harbour and pebble beach.

Due to the location it is a perfect spot for exploring the whole of Cornwall.

When you arrive at the property, you will be welcomed by convenient, off-road parking along with the exterior of what once was a working clay dry.

Enter the wonderful home-from-home to find a well-equipped kitchen/diner, where the budding chef of the group will feel at home, thanks to the range of appliances at hand.

Once a mouthwatering meal has been rustled up, it can be enjoyed at the kitchen's dining table; why not open a bottle of wine to accompany your meal, after all, you're on holiday!

After tucking into a lovely dinner, settle down on the spacious sofa downstairs in the lounge and watch your favourite show on the Smart TV, or help yourself to a generously provided book or board game; be sure to switch on the log effect electric fire for some extra warmth!

The West Dry Accommodation

The West Dry Accommodation consists of six marvellous holiday homes resting on the outskirts of Roche, Cornwall. Formerly known as part of Great Wheal Prosper, a working clay dry, it has been converted into this fantastic collection of lettings you see today. As you can see, this group of properties enjoy a great deal of character, whilst also boasting TVs, access to a communal utility, ample off-road parking and their own private patios. Nearby, Roche Rock, an attraction that seems like an abandoned prop from the set of the court of King Arthur, rises dramatically from the china clay terrain to the north of St Austell. When you see the destroyed fifteenth-century church that sits on its flat summit, the mystery surrounding this tall, nearly cuboidal lump of granite is considerably heightened. When it comes to your amenities, there is a convenience store in Roche village, along with a newsagents, post office, pharmacy and hairdressers, takeaways, pasty shop, butchers and a grocery. If you're looking to treat your loved ones to a meal out, The Victoria Inn can be found just outside Roche and The Bugle Inn rests, as its name suggests, in nearby Bugle; both offer hearty meals and local ale. Be sure to venture to St Austell for an outing, with its additional amenities, along with access to the shores of Duporth, Porthpean and Carlyon Bay, St Austell Brewery and the St Austell Golf Club. There is a wealth of attractions settled within easy reach, the most notable being The Eden Project just a short drive away. The other attractions range from the Wheal Martyn Museum, Bodmin Jail and The Lost Garden of Heligan to the National Trust's Lanhydrock House, Camel Creek Adventure Park and Dairyland Farm Park; there is truly so much to see here. A fantastic stay that is brimming with history, choose The West Dry Accommodation.
