  • "The cottage was absolutely immaculate."

  • "Lovely property in great location for exploring north and south coasts."

Access into and particularly out of the driveway off Union Hill is bordering on dangerous on account of virtually zero visibility of traffic on North Street/Broad Street. It would be worth exploring whether signage and mirrors (opposite the access) could be installed.

A great little dog friendly base to explore Cornwall from. We absolutely loved our stay although the weather wasn’t brilliant, the only thing we would have liked is to have we could been able to turn the heating up a little as there were a couple of days we all came back drenched and couldn’t get warm. The side door could also do with a new lock as it is a bit fiddly to get into.

Thank you for your review. I am glad you enjoyed your holiday. I am sorry you were cold but the heating is easily put on by turning the thermostat up by the front door, I wish you had rang me and I could have told you how to do it. I agree the lock needs attention. Hope to welcome you in the future. Lynn Property Owner

Th space worked well for our family of four and included private off street parking - something of a rarity in this neck of the woods. Columb St Major is a small and quiet town, with just enough shops and services but not so much that it felt ‘touristy’. We did not notice any unwanted noise from the nearby airport and only the hum of the A30 if the wind was blowing in ‘that’ direction. I recommend this accommodation and will definitely stay here again.

  • "Can't recommend this cottage enough."

It's located at the back of the main street, down a short driveway and into a large cobbled parking area, therefore very quiet. From the minute we walked through the front door, it felt cosy and welcoming. The interior was immaculate, tastefully decorated and very stylish and comfortable, with everything you could possibly need and much, much more. There was even a wine fridge which sadly, wasn't working during our stay but there was plenty of room in the fridge anyway. The beds were really comfortable and the twin beds had the luxury of double duvets so there was no fighting to keep the duvet on the bed at night. The bathrooms were well-fitted and the showers powerful and hot. We loved the little patio garden but sadly the weather meant we didn't get a chance to use it. Locationwise, it was in the middle of everywhere we wanted to visit without having to travel any great distance. The cottage is just 2 minutes walk to the Ring O' Bells pub which does great meals (you do have to book) and the fish and chip shop is next door to the pub. There is a well-stocked Co-op just 2 minutes in the opposite direction, with well-organised traffic light system for social distancing. The cottage is a little gem which we'd love to rent next time we visit Cornwall.

The property

This gorgeous semi-detached cottage has been finely restored from a 300-year old inn, which stood derelict for many years, in the centre of St Columb Major.

The cottage has beautiful finishing and contemporary styling, with a light and airy feel in the open plan living area, which has original timber flooring throughout, and with a beautiful Shaker-style kitchen with black granite worktops and a natural slate floor.

Perfect for a group of four, this St Columb cottage has two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

The stone courtyard at the rear of your cottage in St Columb catches the sun, and is a pleasant area to enjoy a refreshing drink.

The shops, historic buildings and inns are a stone's throw from this St Columb cottage, and the popular sandy beaches around the Newquay area are only a fifteen minute drive.

These beaches are safe, sandy, regularly have clean surf and have plenty of activities going on in season.

From this St Columb cottage there are many other visitor attractions on offer, including the Cornish Birds of Prey Centre, Buccaneer Bay pirate centre, Newquay Zoo and the Blue Reef Aquarium.

And of course, there are always numerous magnificent coastal walks and Cornish sub-tropical gardens to enjoy when you stay in this character cottage in St Columb.
