  • "The cottage was warm, welcoming and very comfortable."

The owners went the extra mile with ingredients for a cream tea, milk, tea bags and chocolate awaiting us and fresh flowers in every room. Even our dog had water waiting in a bowl and a welcoming biscuit! Proximity to pubs and glorious walks on the coastal path combined with this lovely cottage made the perfect holiday for us. Thank you!

  • "We had a lovely stay at Gurnard’s Cottage."

The beds were exceptionally comfortable and we loved the log burner. It’s located in a perfect countryside location, very quiet and picturesque. We were a little disappointed regarding the nearby ‘beach’ as it was very difficult to access (we couldn’t) and wasn’t really a beach. The description of this is misleading in the listing for the cottage. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Gurnard’s Cottage and would come back to stay again!

However walking out in the morning walking along the stunning cliffs and fields with the dogs it was beautiful. The dairy farm at the rear of the cottage was great seeing the cows coming daily for milking was lovely. The views are stunning and the peaceful location is worth is wright in gold. But still near enough to explore amazing Cornwall, we found attractions and towns a short drive away the longest we drove was an hour. We had a fabulous time and we including the dogs didn’t want to come home.

  • "The cottage is in a lovely position and very convenient for the Gunards Head Pub."

We were only left enough wood for two nights fires. The Shower is very sensitive to temperature settings and it is very hard to find a comfortable setting. The emersion heater only seems to provide enough water for one bath not two. It is rather dark inside which I guess is becuse it is a cottage with very few windows, The garden furniture is well used. However it is a beautiful position.

We are pleased to hear you enjoyed the location of the cottage and its convenience for the pub. As it says in the cottage information folder, we will happily deliver more logs to the door on request. You did have our landline and mobile numbers and we only live ten minutes away. Details on how to operate the shower and water heater are also in the information folder and again we are on hand to help but obviously can only do so if contacted during your stay. The immersion heater can easily be set to provide two baths. The property is an ancient, authentic Cornish farm cottage built of solid granite with an appropriate amount of windows and the garden furniture is indeed well used. Property Owner

  • "Gorgeous setting with a beautifully kept cottage."

Isolated enough to catch sea views and the clear night sky, yet an excellent gourmet pub just around the corner. Lots of thoughtful little touches like a cream tea tray on arrival and fresh cut flowers throughout the house and logs ready for the wood burner. Although we have a dog and take him away with us, we don’t like visiting properties that are obviously dog-friendly. For instance, we have stayed in places where the doggy smell is evident as soon as you open the door. However, Gunard’s Cottage was spotlessly clean. Not allowing the dogs on the furniture or upstairs means that the cottage strikes the balance of welcoming furry friends and maintaining a clean and comfortable cottage for humans, too. We have already booked our return!

The little gestures added the personal touch loved having fresh flowers in the rooms. The only criticism is the bathroom it was cold and uninviting - one damp evening I came across slugs inside. I think it needs revamping with under floor heating. Overall though it’s a nice little holiday cottage.

  • "The property is in need of some TLC."

The furniture in the lounge is not very comfortable and the lighting is poor, making this a gloomy room. The 'garden' areas are a mess, especially the back one. The worst aspect of our holiday, however, was the scampering and banging which appeared to come from behind the walls and above the ceilings upstairs. This kept me awake at nights. As the bedrooms do not adjoin another property, I can only assume this was rats? We came home early, partly because this was quite a depressing holiday cottage to spend a week in.

Thank you for your feedback, we take this extremely seriously - had you mentioned this when we saw you during your stay we would have investigated your concerns immediately. You will see from our 70+ reviews that there has never been any evidence of rodents at the property and the two sets of guests who have stayed since your departure have not reported any disturbance. Just prior to your stay a roofer attended to fix some storm damaged tiles, had he noticed anything at all untoward in the roof space he would have let us know. You may not have noticed that Gurnard's Cottage is a terraced cottage and the two bedrooms are each attached to another property: the smaller bedroom is attached to the right hand cottage and the main bedroom attached on both sides. While we have never received reports of noise from the adjoining properties, this could have been what you heard. Notwithstanding, we are arranging for someone to attend the property to investigate. Three precautionary visits from a pest control contractor found no rats, dead or alive at the property. Property Owner

When dogs, kept downstairs greet you on your midnight visit to the loo, as an IOSH level H&S I would suggest if there is a high level accident potential, then rather risk assessment around it just remove it. G9t everything we needed and even more, the washing machine made a huge difference, first time when we found this in a cottage. Absolutely spotless, in a very quiet location, with sea view, a dream to go to sleep and hear the waves breaking in the rocks, a dream to wake up and have a coffea while watching the sea. The owners definitely left more that we expected: Milk, tea, scones, cornish butter, jam, washing liquid and hand wash, dishwasher tablets, washing machine detergent, lots of towels, wood for the fire (more than enough for a week), I mean sooooooooooooo wow, after we travelled hours and hours, we did appreciate everything, as our plan for going shopping before checking in didn't go so well.. The owners don't live on site so you just don't have the feeling that someone is watching every move you make. That's a very huge plus.. The cottage it's in a great location, between St Ives and Penzance so you can easily explore all without spending much in the car. We had the best time and we will definitely book again, and if the owners read this, all I can say it's a huge thank you for looking after us so beautifully.

Beautiful welcome of cream teas, fresh flowers in all rooms and even doggy treats. Cottage was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. We wanted for nothing. Rural location so was very peaceful and fantastic views from the front of the cottage of the rugged coast and Atlantic ocean. Couple of good food pubs very close by and only 2 min walk to the Gurnards Head. Beautiful coastal walking path literally on the doorstep. All in all, a thourghly wonderful place and could find fault with nothing 100% A******** Thank you, we'll be back

  • "The cottage was lovely and the welcoming gifts were fab but we were a bit disappointed in the rear courtyard which wasn’t very well kept in that it was overgrown and with dead leaves all over it."

As we had warm weather it wasn’t very pleasant to sit out in. It would also have been beneficial in the listing to say that the farm is actually over the back wall and to be prepared for some very noisy cows sometimes throughout the night! And the associated flies that go with it. For that reason, we would not stay at that cottage again.

! Everything one needed and more was right there in the cottage. Pub just up the lane, food was exceptional, pricey but well worth it, as you would expect the fish was perfectly cooked. Everywhere was very easily reached in the car. Weather was perfect, if a little too warm. Would not hesitate to return again.

The place was clean and tidy and well presented, some of the focilitys was a bit temperamental, hot water, fire alarms, Wifi are just a few to name. I likely would have liked to have seen this property sold at about £100 less then the listed price inorder to have been satisfied completely. Information given was very good though and helped a lot but I spent a lot of time out and about and not much time in the property sorry I wouldn't go back.

We had a cream tea and flowers waiting for us on our arrival which was a very welcome sight after such a long journey. If you love walks along the coastal path and through the moors, then this is the perfect location. If you want to be within walking distance of shops then it isn't.

It's beautifully located in a small hamlet with the ocean a few hundred yards down the lane and a wonderful gastro pub a couple of hundred yards up the lane. Frische Blumen in jedem Zimmer. Zusammengefasst hat alles gepasst und wir hatten eine wunderschöne Zeit.

The end one of four old cottages within a small cluster of properties, Gurnard's Cottage has romantic charm, with its tranquil situation also attracting serious walkers, artists, photographers and writers.

Neighbouring dairy cows idle by twice daily, and a renowned pub restaurant is a short stroll up the lane.
