• "After the steps (im so damn unfit) was delighted at the lovely apartment, bright & clean with an amazing view."

  Bathroom really nice loved the shower, choice of 2 shower heads. Well equipped kitchen , but only had breakfast as ate out everyday. Lovely bedroom plenty of drawers & hanging space, my personal preference the mattress was way to hard. All in all a fabulous stay, but sadly wouldnt stay again , it was just to hard getting our cases ect up the stairs

• "His property was infested with clothes moths during our stay."

  I was not informed of this infestation that has clearly been there for a while, and am not being refunded despite a huge time and stress cost. The apartment is nice but not when there's an infestation, so I strongly recommend against staying and Sykes warn all future guests there is an infestation until the host can certify the infestation has been removed by professionals. I cannot recommend this host personally post-stay as he feels a 5-10% refund is a good will gesture and adequate compensation for issues he has imposed onto his guests. So if you are unsure, best to avoid.

  Thank you for your review, we do once again apologise for any inconvenience that you experienced during your stay. We are aware that you contacted us early on during your stay regarding an issue with some moths you had noticed, our team quickly attended to rectify this situation. Although they didn’t see many moths, they did a thorough clean and sprayed a natural insect repellant. They offered to return the following day for another clean if you felt it was necessary, but this offer was declined. As an act of goodwill, we also compensated you for any inconvenience, I do hope this helped you to enjoy the remainder of your holiday. Property Owner

• "We couldn't get the main TV to work."

  Not a problem, as the smaller one in the bedroom was fine. The apartment itself was excellent, and we couldn't get enough of the fabulous view. Secure parking was a bonus, and the location, only minutes away from the main shops and restaurants, couldn't be bettered.

• "Amazing apartment!"

  It's in the right location with easy walking distance to local places. It was so beautiful just waking up to the views of the beach! You're also a short drive to other places to visit as well. Bonus to have a parking space in a secure car park but the space is quite tight. I would happily rebook this apartment for a future visit.

• "I don’t think Ocean shore could be beaten for location and views!"

  Such a convenient location, so close to the beach but also just a short walk to the shops and harbour. I miss staring out at that lovely view! Well equipped, comfortable and clean. The only thing we would say is that the TV was very slow and would crash a lot - not sure if that’s an issue with the wifi as we were watching Netflix or if the TV could do with being upgraded. • "Arrived Sat late teatime , had to spend well over an hour cleaning before we felt at all comfortable to bring luggage in."

  Apartment needed high and low deep clean . Body hairs in bathroom cabinet, bedroom blind filthy, body grease on all work surfaces and touch points through out the flat. Chipped crockery, dirty bedside lights, sand and dirt on floors and under sofa cushions.... and much more !! Contacted Carbis Bay Office Monday morning. They sent some one out to look but it seems this is standard that Sykes holidays regard to be 5 star! No feed back given to us .We contacted again Wed morning. Staff came out to meet us but it had to be in their time, to suit their agenda so we had to give up holiday time to meet staff at the apartment .They wouldn't come out after 6pm so we could enjoy afternoon out. We were told this would have been regarded as an emergency so we should have alerted Saturday evening to the emergency number .However even when we highlighted need for deep over haul , the disinterest of the Carbis Bay staff was palpable. Again it appears that the management of the apartment are happy to sell the property as 5 star. Apparently we have to deal with the owner who lives in Australia because that is in the terms and conditions. We booked this apartment as part of South Devon/Cornwall road trip. The previous apartment had been immaculate , managed by the owners who lived locally. As explained to Sykes we had 3 days of commercial trips booked in that part of Cornwall .However we left the apartment early once all the trips had taken place. Didn't want to be in such a grubby environment for a moment longer. Moved on then to another immaculate property . We know what 5 star cleanliness and 5 star customer service looks like. Ocean Shore falls short on all aspects.

  Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, we are pleased that when you reported your findings on the Monday of your stay at the property we were able to get our team down asap, unfortunately on arrival the team were told that you had remedied all the points you have highlighted on your complaint and did not have any photos we could show the cleaner or the owner. You had also declined the offer for us to send the cleaner back down to the property to attend to the deep cleaning issues you had highlighted. The cleaner and the owner have been notified of all the issues you encounted and we will put steps in place to make sure the cleaning issues are addressed and kept on top of. We hope you can appreciate that as all local members of the community with families, we are unable to meet guests outside of office hours unless it is an emergency, in these circumstances we are very happy to help and have a dependable trade team on hand.   Lovely apartment, like a home away from home, well equipped and clean, fantastic views and prefect location to explore everything St Ives (and beyond) has to offer. Things we did and places we visited: • St Michael’s Mount Gardens and Marazion town. • Open top bus from St Ives to Land’s End – we stopped at Geevor Tin Mine on the way. • Coastal walk from St Ives to Hayle. • Cornish Seal Sanctuary and Gweek. • Lizard Point and Kynance Cove along the coastal paths. • Tintagel Castle. • Looe.

• "The main feature of the property was the view over Porthminster Beach."

  We had some problems: The kitchen tap flew apart and we repaired it ourselves. The bedroom tv remote did not work so we had to buy new batteries. The oven needs a deep clean. The bathroom extractor did not work. The bed was hard and uncomfortable and contributed to cutting short our holiday by 1 day. On leaving, as requested, we stripped the bed to discover very stained pillows which need replacing and the pillow protectors need to be washed.

• "Amazing apartment with beautiful views!"

  However the bed was incredibly uncomfortable and we both left with back ache! Also the instructions from carbis bay of how to get in do not work. You have to collect the keys from the apartment from the back and then walk or drive round to the front to unlock the car park gate etc. The instructions sent do not clearly state this so a stressful start!

The location was perfect for walking into town or going on the coast path to Carbis Bay. It was an added bonus to have a secure parking space with the property, it was nice to park up the car and then forget about using it until we returned home.
