  • "Only small issues."

A decent frying pan would be good and not one that had been attacked with a ball hammer. Could do with a few more kitchen items. If guests damage items, they should have their cards debited. The shower room could do with a tidy up. Conduit under towel rail, messy tiles to the left of sink. All silly little things that would take minutes to sort out at very little expense but would enhance the overall impression. We absolutely loved it and give it a full five stars. will probably stay again next year. Don't leave your dog free to roam if a staying guest has a dog of their own!

  • "It was nice to be greeted by the property owner and shown around, thank you, The studio is very compact, but had everything we needed for a cosy stay."

We found the property easily from the directions and everywhere we wanted to visit was within 45 minutes drive. The owner explained there had been recent repairs and there was a smell of damp, but the heater soon dissipated this. Also access to wifi would have been a bonus. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • "The location is fantastic and the studio had everything we needed."

The guest book needs updating, for example, with regards to watering the plants with the watering can next to the gas bottle. There's no gas bottle or watering can. The toilet does not flush properly and we regularly had to pour a bowl of water down it to flush it properly. Down the side of the bed (next to the wall) needs a good clean and the mattress topper is too big for the bed which makes you feel like you'll fall off the bed. The bed was comfortable despite this. Lovely outside space. It was great for what we needed as we were out everyday and it's very central.

Log burner been replaced with electric fire and very small TV and table on wall not very practical to eat your food off. Although the studio looked clean the floor had never been mopped, my wife ended up mopping the floors and you could see the difference.

  • "Overall a very nice stay, location is fantastic with only a short drive to excellent beaches, towns and attractions."

The studio provides everything which is needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen was good and enabled us to cook in the evenings without any problems. There is a room at the rear which provides a fridge and microwave which was useful. The only downside was a very small tv and no Wi-Fi. Both in which can go without for a few days, however if you’re working whilst away internet connection is essential. I would stay here again for the competitive price and would recommend to anyone on a budget.

  • "On day of arrival we were very surprised how small this place was."

On entering the property we were hit with the over powerful smell of bleach. After a good look around the property it was quite noticeable that the whole place could benefit from a deep clean. The room/cupboard the bed was in, was so small that you could only enter the room from the bottom of the bed, one side was against the wall and the other side you could just about squeeze down. The bed itself had a matress topper on that that was bigger than the actual bed and hung over the sides which gave you even less room. In the living area was a small 2 seater couch that when you sat down it was like sitting in a hole, very uncomfortable. The shower wasn't too bad the sink was small plug had no chain, wall tiles could use some mould remover, and the toilet cistern took hours to refill. The kitchen we only used for making hot drinks. Just one more thing I would like to comment about is the waste rubbish, according to the property handbook left by the owners, you are expected to take a green wheelie bin approximately 150m down a farm track and bring it back the next day. We just took a black bag down on day of departure.

  • "On arrival the keys were not in the key safe but left in the patio door (the only entrance) & unlocked."

There was also a hoover attachment by the patio door. We left after one day, as the bed was so uncomfortable,. It was lumpy where we could feel the springs underneath. The sofa had seen better days. You sat in it rather than on it & could feel the frame. The kitchen had been updated since the photos had been taken & was very nice & the walls had been repainted. The one bedroom had been repainted in a dark blue, which made a window-less very small room, very dingy & not very inviting. The bathroom wall tiles had black mould in the grouting & could also do with updating. There was a room at the back which housed a fridge & microwave & was a complete waste of space. The kitchen would have been better in there, leaving more room for the one bedroom. The outside space is not secure from the road, so although the cottage is dog friendly, it is not outside. When we raised the bed & sofa issue with the owner & requested a bit of a refund, she said ‘no’. She said the bed had been replaced last year & offered to put a mattress protector on, which would not have helped the lumpy spring situation. When we started walking away, she said she wished she’d let her dog out, as she knew our dog was a nervous girl…very nasty. There was a strong smell of damp, so you either put up with that or the overpowering smell of a plug-in air freshener. No wi-fi & although there were DVDs, there was no actual DVD player, so a little confused. We stripped the bedding & placed in a bin bag with our towels, as required & left the cottage clean & tidy, also a requirement.

The owners of his property were very helpful, kind and understanding as during our stay the cooker /fire broke down they did replace them and communicated with us when installers were coming in However do feel this property is not of the standard that we have stayed in before and needs some amendments to make it warm and comfortable and bring it up to a great standard This property is cold-the flue above the fire is not blocked off and cold air comes through it ,damp in places -back of the property, there is no cupboard storage for food and no where to dry wet clothing This property could be beautiful and is in a great location for visiting different places in Cornwall

  • "Sadly the Studio was disappointing, the place needs a proper deep clean and a revamp, outside too, the garden, as it was listed, is just gravel which is generally untidy and littered."

Also there's no gate to keep your dog in, or indeed the owners dog out which barks in the evening's and stood at the Studios doorway barking at us! There was no DVD player although it was listed as having one. The layout is strange and could be so much better. The shower was good and there was always hot water. The location makes up for most of the negativity, a beautiful area with so much to see and enjoy. We would not use the Studio again, Sykes gave it three of their red ticks in the listing, it does not nearly match the other similarly listed Sykes cottages we have stayed in.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you found some issues during your stay. The owner is aware of your comments and will ensure they are addressed. The garden is not listed as enclosed but she feels it is as pictured. Sorry if the dog caused any upset. The TV had been replaced but she forgot that it had a DVD player so she will replace this also. The property is very old and even though there are water pumps on all the showers, the pressure can be low if different water sources are being used at the same time. Thanks again for your comments and we do hope you enjoyed your stay otherwise. Property Owner

  • "The Studio is situated in a stunning location with only short drives to various places."

Unfortunately that's the only bit of positive feedback I have. The Studio itself wasn't very clean The layout is a little odd, there is an empty room to the back of the property. In my opinion this could be used as the bedroom/living room/dining room to provide more space The decor is dark and dated There is no gate on the property which isnt safe if your bringing a dog We were told the owners dog wasn't friendly but they left it to roam freely, kept barking most nights and nearly attacked my dog Wouldn't stay here again, there are definitely nicer properties that are actually worth the money. It's such a shame because the Studio has so much potential

Smallest TV I’ve seen in a long time. There was a request to put the bin all the way down to the end of the drive, I’m afraid I did not so this as I’ve come away Not to have to do these type of things. It is a great location and aside from these things I did enjoy my stay and feel all these things are easily fixable to make it a really ideal stay.

The location was perfect if you like getting out and about and doing oudoorsy things. We had such a beautiful, cosy time. The sunsets are especially lovely, as were the views and all the lovely birds. Only teeeeeny gripe would be it was a bit chilly with only the electric fire, which couldn't be left on while you are out, and takes a while to heat the space up (but then, most normal people aren't freediving for 2 hours in 10 degree water, so!!!). Just make sure you pack your slippers and a couple of extra cosy jumpers if you're coming here in winter. :D <3

Really well located. Close to local beaches and town. Supermarket close by etc. There seemed to be a steady stream of spiders and woodlice visiting throughout the week. I don’t think that it’s to do with the cleanliness of the place but you do need to be aware you may have a few ‘visitors’ during your stay. I was unable to use the oven or grill at all for the duration of the week because I couldn’t figure out how to turn it on and couldn’t find any instructions. It may be useful to include some in the guest handbook? I had to make do with microwave and hob meals. Other than that, I found it peaceful and cosy as a base. The bed is extremely comfortable and I slept well the whole week. I would definitely book again.

As l read the reviews from prevoius people. Owners were offhand as when l met yhem l was told to keep my dog under control. It was sat in my car and thier dog jumping up . Should be details of how to use cooker. And where fridge is, you do not expect to go through a locked door to search for one. Welcome pack is just full of thing you should not do . Not welcoming. Plug extention cable has four plugs in it. But then welcome pack says you cannot have heating on overnight but maybe plugs should have seperate sockets then this would be possible. Overall very poor for a established holiday company.

There clearly was a drainage issue as when we flushed the toilet, put the washing machine on or did the dishes the smell was repulsive! I had to go to the local shop to get cleaning supplies and air fresheners to put my mind at ease. The whole place unfortunately needs a complete revamp and starting again! The only good thing about it was the very comfy bed and pillows. It was cosy enough but I would suggest getting rid of the carpet for a start certainly in a dog friendly cottage or a deep clean at least!
