  • "Although very clean & well provisioned, it was a bit on the small side for 6 adults."

The living room was fine but it was a bit of a squeeze to get us all round the dining table & the twin rooms have very little free floor space. Having said that the beds were very comfortable. Very good position to reach everything in Tintagel easily on foot & a lovely dog walk from the door described by the owner in the cottage info.

  • "Cottage was spotless, warm and comfortable, if a little small for 6 people."

The induction hob and oven were efficient and the fridge freezer was a decent size. Could do with some saucepans big enough to cope with food for 6 people. And we had to buy our own frying pan and sharp knife, as the pans were losing their non-stick coating and there was only a small paring knife. The hot water ran out a couple of times despite being "constant". Would be useful to have more bin bags.

  • "Hazel cottage is a very comfortable well equipped property in a brilliant location, close to the shops and restaurants but very quiet."

I think cleaning could be better, when we arrived there was a dog poop in the back garden that we had to pick up and the garden furniture hadn’t been wiped down and was very dirty. The toilet bowls also needed a deep clean as they were very discoloured. There are cracked floor tiles in the en-suite and the lock doesn’t work on the door. The furniture in the double bedroom could do with replacing as well, only minor niggles but could do with some attention. There is one really big concern, Sykes Cottages’s should not allow owners to wait until you arrive at the property then have a notice up saying dogs cannot be allowed upstairs, this information should be available before you book!!! This has happened to us 3 times before! It creates a massive problem for dogs that are used to sleeping in the bedroom. We had a great stay and the weather was lovely, Jenny and Jason

The garden is in need of some attention, weeding required. We visit the site every year, there was a dog lead left in the garden last year and is still there now rusty, also found a plastic bucket and ball.Margaret

Dear Margaret, Thanks for your feedback and for your many booking over the years. Your comments were really helpful, we have a gardener who cuts the grass and should do the weeding but obviously hasn't. We will pass on your comments. I usually clear away anything left in the garden but obviously failed this time. Regards, Rob Property Owner

The Cottage is in a great location only a 2 minute walk into the centre of Tintagel Village and all the shops and restaurants. Cottage was very clean and well equipped with plenty of space. Our little doggy enjoyed the garden area which was very secure. Would definitely recommend staying here if you are planning a holiday to Tintagel.

Good location, disappointed in welcome pack.Only one spare bin liner,no extra toilet rolls, told to put rubbish in black sack,no black sacks, also put glass in box,no box.Dishwasher needs salt and rinse aid.Only 5 dishwasher tablets . Although dogs are welcome I feel it should be pointed out that they are not allowed on furniture or upstairs on the advert. We have stayed in several cottages before and have always been left with several jars containing small amounts of coffee, tea, sugar and salt. All that we had was a small pot with about 5 tea bags,4 sachets coffee 4 packets of sugar. There was milk and some scones with cream and jam.

  • "So good I booked to go again the day after returning home."

We visit Tintagel two to three times a year and love the area. This property is perfectly located as you can park up in the drive way and walk to anywhere in the village. With four adults, we had plenty of room and ability to sit in either the dining room or lounge which are separate if you don't want to watch TV etc there is another area of the house to sit in. Well equipped kitchen, nice lounge and outside area - too cold to use when we were in Cornwall. Highly recommend this property.

The only thing I would say is as we were an all adult party the slat beds in the small room were uncomfortable and more suited to children. I would highly recommend this cottage it has everything you need and is central to lots of places to visit

  • "The house was very clean and tidy with good facilities and away from the busy centre of Tintagel."

Although the rear garden was dog secure it was very small. Luckily we had 2 small dogs. Front garden parking was tight but if 3 couples came only 2 of 3 cars could be parked. The only real concern was lack of any external TLC of the property, especially the rear. In need of a paint and tidy up.

Thank you for finding time to feedback however we find some of your comments rather surprising. The cottage description is quite clear that there is parking for 2 cars so 3 couples should have no expectation of being able to park a third car. The pictures show the size of the rear garden and there is plenty of space for exercising dogs on public footpaths through fields less than 5 minutes down the road. We agree the rear wall could benefit from a lick of paint but gardeners go in regularly to tidy up and were there only the week before your visit - the garden is not meant to be pristine and sometimes the weather can make things look worse. We also wonder if you thought we were responsible for the shrubbery behind our boundary which can get a bit out of hand! Property Owner

  • "Well equipped cottage."

Clean. Fire in lounge did not work. Underfloor heating in most rooms hopelessly inadequate. On cold days the cottage was not warm and cosy, even tho all thermostatic controls as high as possible. (Pre stuck at 23 dec). Cosy not. We have used sakes on 3 holidays before all excellent properties. We shall not be returning.

We are very sorry you were so disappointed with our cottage. We have been letting now for 10 years (previously with another agent) and this is the first complaint about the heating we have had including during much colder weather. We will certainly look into the problem now it has been brought to our attention. We learnt about the lounge fire only last week and a new one is being fitted next week. If you had contacted us with this problem while you were there we would have had the problem investigated immediately as we pride ourselves on our customer service and response. Property Owner

  • "Our 2nd stay at Hazel Cottage in 6 months says it all."

The cottage is perfectly located just off the High Street in Tintagel, with great walks from the doorstep. The cottage was very comfortable for the 2 of us, and the enclosed small back garden perfect for our dog. Tintagel itself was much quieter this time around (March 2022) - than it was last September - but we still enjoyed the local walks, and day trips. Can recommend walks along the coastal path in Boscastle, St Nectan's Falls, Trebarwith Strand, Port Isaac, Daymer Bay and Padstow town and beach. The cream tea on arrival was much appreciated. We'll be back!

  • "Very well located, with parking (just) for two cars, Hazel Cottage was clean and had everything we needed."

We appreciated the scones, jam and cream provided for our arrival. Being so close to the village meant all the shops and cafes were readily available. There were good walks for the dog! The only drawback, which was not an issue for us as the temperature never got very cold (despite our stay being in February) was that the electric fire in the sitting room did not work. Thank you, we enjoyed our stay, and would return.

Thank you for your positive comments and also for letting us know that the fire did not work. We were unaware of this so we can now ensure it is replaced. Property Owner

Tintagel, home of the legendary King Arthur’s Castle, whose ruins dominate the cliffside just outside the village, is a popular but not overcrowded tourist destination. The surrounding area is dominated by the sea, rocky coves and stunning scenery. Several beaches, including nearby Trebarwith Strand and Bossiney Cove, are within easy reach and surfing is the main attraction for those who love the water. Tintagel has several pubs and restaurants and the Old Post Office (National Trust) is a must.
