"Everything about the property was clean, fresh and well maintained."
Good location. Only criticism was the bed which was far too low. When standing next to the bed the top of the inset mattress was only 12 inches from the floor.

Whilst we have had only a small number of people comment, we are monitoring guest feedback and the bed is likely to be replaced over the winter.

"Overall this is a very nice place to stay."
The owner gave us some recommendations of things to do in the area which were lovely. The property is clean and has everything you need for a stay. Anyone wanting a walking holiday in this area would find this a perfect location th start.

"The cottage was clean and comfortable."
Very convenient for the coastal path, visiting Tintagel and Boscastle all very beautiful. We had some issues with the allocated parking space as it was very tight against a stone wall, where the passenger had to get out before the vehicle could get close enough in for the traffic to get past on the dusty farm track! We also had an issue with a neighbour who covered our car in hedge trimmings and small stones as he believed we shouldn’t be parking there and didn’t bother to ask us to move it before he strimmed the hedge! This was discussed with the owner at the time as it was upsetting and disrupted our holiday. The owner said she would contact the neighbour to resolve the issues.
The bed was comfortable however too low for us and the frame was a hazard especially at night. We like a window open at night this was difficult having balcony doors, however we left the bathroom window open for some air. The clothes aider was broken, owner is aware and was going to replace.

The Mill is situated in a great location to explore the gems of North Cornwall both on foot and by car/bus. We love it there! I am sorry that you were concerned about the parking space. This is the first time that any of our guests have mentioned it. Being situated in a small rural hamlet, the short track to the allocated parking space, which we own, is part of the charm. Indeed some holiday cottages in Cornwall have no allocated parking at all and in some villages, guests have to use the public car park and walk to their accommodation. We consider ourselves very lucky therefore to have our own parking space. Very little traffic uses the track as it is a private no through road accessing a small number of properties. There is plenty of room and there has never been a problem with space to get by. I understand from our telephone conversation that you live in an urban area with "Lovely wide roads" so perhaps you are not used to these character rural hamlets. Of course, we spoke on the telephone about the hedge trimming incident. Again, this is the first time that anyone has encountered a "problem" of this sort. I am sorry that you found the incident upsetting. As you were out walking that day, we do not know if the neighbour called round to offer you the chance to move your car. We have always found all of our neighbours to be very friendly and approachable. As stated on the telephone, we own that parking space and you have a right to park there. Perhaps when your husband approached the neighbour to complain about the leaves on your car, there was some kind of misunderstanding. Nevertheless, I am truly sorry to hear that this "Disrupted" your holiday. I am pleased to confirm that the clothes airer has been replaced.

"To make future guests stay more enjoyable, it would be nice to have local information on businesses, places to visit and walking routes."
Locked heating was more than adequate but it would have been nice to be able to turn it down.
For rainy days and bad weather, board games or a pack of cards would be a nice addition too.
Apart from a couple of tea bags and sachets of coffee provided on the first day, there was nothing else provided except for the empty containers. When we’ve stayed in other cottages, these have usually been filled.
Milk and mince pies provided on arrival were welcomed after a long drive, as were the festive decorations and crackers.
We both had electric toothbrushes and found the charging point in the bathroom would only work when the light was on. This was a bit of a niggle.
Access road was poor but we accept that this is probably outside of the owners control.
Thank you for your review. You may remember that upon arrival, I texted you to welcome you to the property and invited you to contact me at any time, should you have any queries. If the heating was too hot, had you contacted me, I would have arranged for someone to come round to rectify the situation.
With regard to games, cards, information etc, we are already on this for next season.
The contents of the welcome pack are as we have been advised to do, but we are looking at additional items for next season.
Thank you for the information about the toothbrush charging point. We will look into this.
With regard to the access road, it's nature is part of the charm of this pretty little hamlet. The Mill is only a very short distance up the track. There are a number of residences and holiday homes that use the track and have to travel further with no difficulty.

"The Mill cottage is beautiful, and was perfect for our stay."
The kitchen is well equipped, and there is also WIFI. The yard has a bench and table with a parasol, which sadly we didn't get to use due to the weather.
The cottage was lovely and clean and had crisp white bedding.
The towels were lovely and thick but personally I felt they could have smelt fresher.
The cottage is located near the entrance to Nectans Glen waterfall, which is a lovely walk up there.
There are excellent costal walk either way from Trethevy to Tintagel or Trethevy to Boscastle

"Lovey cottage with great facilities."
Immaculate clean and nice views and convenient for all nearby walking trails.
A few points that would mention that would give this place maximum sore
Outdoor comfortable seating
Welcome pack very basic
Mismatch cutlery and glass ware.
But overall a great comfortable place to stay.

"My partner and I had a fantastic stay for seven nights and we were very happy with the lovely cottage."
There were a couple of minor issues, however I’m sure if we visited again they would be resolved after informing the owner.
Lots of lovely sights to see and interesting places to visit in the surrounding areas too!

"The garden was not as described and it was impossible to sit there comfortably or out of sun and there were many weeds."
Inside the bed was very low and the hard wooden edges and gaps round the mattress were annoying, nothing romantic about that. No chair or place to sit in bedroom. Said 0.9 miles to see, maybe if you were a seagull but there was no accessible beach near or information on best ones to get to, also some beaches only had a beach when the tide was right out! Needs a bit more thought put into the property to bring it up to the standard we have come to expect from Sykes.
Thank you for your comments. We welcome all feedback - positive and negative - so that we can continually improve our guests’ experience. Of course, we already communicated at length about your concerns whilst you were staying at the property.
The courtyard is exactly as described and portrayed in the photographs on the Sykes property listing. Nothing has changed except the furniture.
The seating that features in the courtyard photograph was already at the property when we purchased it. After the photos were taken, one of the chairs was broken so we purchased a handmade picnic bench from a local craftsman. This new furniture is of a much better quality than the older table and chairs, and heavier, so it is better able to withstand any strong coastal winds. I have asked Sykes to remove the photograph of the old furniture.
It is our intention to bring down a new parasol when we next visit. We are currently in the process of sourcing a good quality, specialised windproof parasol with a very sturdy base, again to withstand any strong coastal winds.
There is a tree above the rear courtyard which drops greenery on a regular basis during May and June. Our cleaner sweeps up during every changeover. Some deposits are bound to appear during our guests’ stay. Now that the summer has arrived, we have seen that weeds do pop up between the paving blocks. We have already requested that our changeover lady keeps an eye on this. We have provided her with an outdoor broom and she has advised us that she has a special brush designed for the very purpose of removing weeds from the paving cracks.
The bedroom furniture was in the property when we bought it. The bed is a standard UK double from Ikea. The brand new mattress is a standard UK double, also from Ikea, and therefore compatible with the bedframe design. The gap that you refer to is part of the design, to allow space to tuck the bedding in. The bed IS low. It is designed to be low and we are monitoring guest feedback.
As previously discussed with you, we intend to put a chair in the bedroom but we are yet to find a suitable style and size that we can fit up the staircase.
Being situated right on the Cornish Coast, there are lots of lovely beaches in the locality. The Welcome Folder in the cottage provides information on some of these. They can also be identified on any map of the local area or by searching on Google. The information provided by Sykes is correct - There IS a beach, less than a mile away from the property, accessible via a public footpath. I am afraid I have no control over the tides or the topography of the area.

"A lovely week in a delightful cottage."
Clean comfortable and everything you could need. Milk sugar tea and coffee left for us on arrival. No issues parking. Well worth a walk to the falls and Glen. Within reach of many other attractions. Particulaly enjoyed the local farm shops Definately worth booking!

This area is notably famous for Tintagel Castle and Merlin’s Cave.
The well-known and beautiful Boscastle is also close by and is a must see, with its picturesque harbour and Valency Valley.
Here you can enjoy browsing the independent stores and galleries at your leisure, history lovers can visit Boscastle’s Museum of Witchcraft and Magic, or why not indulge in cake and tea at one of the cafes, or a hearty meal at one of the local pubs or eateries?
Trebarwith Strand Beach, situated at the end of a beautiful wooded valley, extends to almost a mile of golden sand at low tide and is the site of several film locations.
Further from the property you can embark on a countryside walk across Bodmin Moor, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or explore the Camel Trail on bicycle or by foot.

Where you’ll be staying
TINTAGEL
Camelford 5.9 miles; Wadebridge 13 miles.
Tintagel, home of the legendary King Arthur’s Castle, whose ruins dominate the cliffside just outside the village, is a popular but not overcrowded tourist destination. The surrounding area is dominated by the sea, rocky coves and stunning scenery. Several beaches, including nearby Trebarwith Strand and Bossiney Cove, are within easy reach and surfing is the main attraction for those who love the water. Tintagel has several pubs and restaurants and the Old Post Office (National Trust) is a must. For the energetic, the South West Coast Path passes through the village and in both directions it winds its way along the cliffs and down to the water’s edge through dramatic countryside. Head north along the path and within a short distance is the beautiful village of Boscastle with its quaint quay and village pubs for refreshment. Further afield are the surfing meccas of Newquay and Bude, with their resort attractions, while the open spaces of Bodmin Moor, the Eden Project, Padstow, Camel Estuary and Port Isaac are all within a short but scenic drive.
