If I could improve it at all, it would just be to add a footstool, so we could both put feet up whilst watching the tv. Would definitely go back

It is extremely well equipped and very clean, beautifully decorated. The only slight markdown is due to the sofa, it is a little uncomfortable (it’s a sofa bed, so not considered unusual). I have back problems so for most people this wouldn’t be an issue. The location is off the scale, the sandy, dog friendly beach is outside the front door along with a cliff top walk with stunning views. We will definitely be returning to the beautiful Beach Hut

Thank you Sarah for your lovely comments. You'll be pleased to know a new sofa is on the shopping list for this winter! I look forward to your return. Property Owner

Again found it to be a perfect cottage in the perfect location. Have stayed at two other properties at Trebarwith and this is definitely our favourite. The cottage is clean comfortable with everything thoughtfully provided. And minutes from the beach to walk dogs and swim/ bodyboard. Or just sit on the rocks and relax when the tide was in . Really appreciated the cream tea milk and tea when we arrived . Only slightly downside was erratic WiFi .. but not a reason not to return next year. Thank you ⭐️

There is nothing to fault and everything to praise. Would highly recommend and will most definitely book again next year. Trebarwith is a favourite place of ours and never disappoints. The pub and ice-cream, cliff walks…. All just perfect. Basil our working cocker had the best time playing with new found friends on the beach. It was an absolute tonic to stay in a dog friendly cottage that was pristine and beautifully finished throughout. We all loved it. The owners deserve nothing less than a 10 out of 10. Thank you.

So welcoming and the attention to detail is a real wow!! This was our second visit to Beach Hut and the cream tea provided on arrival is such a lovely touch. I would just like to add, that when we visited last year bedding was not provided - and on the back of COVID that was understandable. However we are in different times now and with the world back to normal. We got this cottage at a discount and booked 2 weeks prior to arrival- and there were 3 weeks available in August at the time of booking. It’s a shame that such a high quality and beautiful cottage should not be getting the bookings it deserves as the standard is so high. Provide the bedding and this place sells out at top dollar. Owners are selling themselves short. I have not marked it down at all due to this as it is truly wonderful x

What a fab review thanks so much Melanie. I'm delighted that you enjoyed the Beach Hut again and you'll be pleased to hear that I do intend reinstating the bedding next year as long as the dreaded covid doesn't make a big comeback. • "The property was excellent no complaints at all."

However I have three comments/observations. 1) An arrival time of 18:00 seems at least 2 hours too late especially if travelling from a long distance. In winter this means you will arrive in the dark. Comments re allowing time for a 'covid' relevant clean seems somewhat ridiculous given the size of the property and that check out is 10:00. 2) I can't see why bedding and towels are still not being provided. This seems penny pinching and I would argue is no longer necessary. How do hotels manage? 3) Prehaps the size of the parking space should be highlighted in the up front description. If the front space is already occupied it's not easy to get into the designated space.

We are pleased that you found our property to be excellent, we work very hard to make sure that the Beach Hut is clean, safe, and beautiful for all our guests. Regarding the check in time, we are always fastidious about cleaning between each booking, but especially during these Covid times where we have had to further up our game to comply with all the additional government guidelines in place, all within a set time frame, no small feat. However, you will be pleased to hear that the check in time has been reviewed and is now 4pm. The decision to remove bedding was implemented after several guests asked to bring their own, alerting us to the risks involved in this area, and therefore by no means a penny pinching exercise. In fact, I long for the day I can bring my beautiful French linen back out for all to enjoy! This decision will remain until the pandemic is shown to be in a more manageable decline. Lastly, the parking space is larger than average, indeed it is larger than in any car park and most cars fit in easily. If the neighbouring car takes up more than the designated space this can make parking tricky, but is out of our control. Thank you again for your positive comments, we have put a lot of effort into designing a perfect holiday retreat and it's lovely to hear when it pleases. Property Owner

  • "I would expect toilet rolls and bin liners to be provided as indeed they have been in other holiday cottages stayed in."

Two toilet rolls were not enough for two people and neither was three green bin liners. We’re very covid aware as are the owners and didn’t really want to be driving to the shops to stock up on these items. Otherwise it was a very comfortable and lovely place to stay. Super clean and easy to keep clean. On a personal note I won’t be staying in a Sykes cottage again until bedlinen/towels etc are provided. I found it too much taking it all. I needed a place that week to fully relax and not turn up after a long drive to make the bed then return with all the sheet washing etc. I know it’s a small thing but I wanted to mention it. Perhaps this could also be mentioned before booking. Thank you for a lovely week.

I'm pleased that you enjoyed the Beach Hut and had a lovely week. It's a shame you were unhappy with the provisions left for you. As it is a 'self-catering' cottage we just provide a few essentials in case guests forget to bring them. It seems to be sufficient for most, as unused items are frequently left behind. Your stance on covid safety is a little confusing, but please let me explain why bedding and towels are not being provided during the pandemic. We (the owners) became aware of guests wanting to bring their own bedding, which alerted us to what a high-risk area this is. Many do not want to sleep on pillows and duvets which others have slept in just a few hours before, so this resulted in us taking the decision not to supply bedding until the pandemic is under control. This criteria is made very clear on the website so you should have known about this before booking. Property Owner

The Beach Hut is in a idilic location, perfect for those long coastal walks, easy access (20 yards away) to the sea and beach, when the tide is out. The Hut was exceptionally well presented and had everything that we could have wanted. The shower was strong and hot which is essential and all the fitting were of a high standard and quite luxurious. There were also independently operated radiators which gave us total control of the heating. This was not really needed but just putting them on for 30 minutes in the evening made all the difference to taking the chill and damp out of the air. The pub was clearly only 4 minutes walk away and with fore-planning eating out there was no problem and quite good pub grub, with marvellous views. What better way to watch the sun go down after a long day walking or in the sea? A brilliant place, property and value!

  • "We had a lovely time here over New Year."

The cottage is small but well appointed so didn’t feel cramped. There was an odd fusty smell in the bedroom which we narrowed down to a pillow - once banished the smell disappeared. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and exceptionally clean. The complimentary milk, bottle of fizz and cream tea was a thoughtful touch and highly appreciated after a 5 hour journey! As was the doggie care kit. I failed to take any shower gel based on the pictures - which showed it was provided - there were no toiletries but I just used my other half’s (my fault for assuming). The beach was a disappointment - small and due to tide, only appearing for a couple of hours each day but the cliff walk is good if you have the knees! The Port William pub was fantastic - friendly staff, good food and dog friendly with a great view over the cove. All in all - great holiday and would recommend the cottage.

Thanks for your feedback which is much appreciated. I'm so sorry you had the pillow issue. This has now been replaced, but for future reference I will happily rectify any problems immediately if you come and find me next door. Apologies also for lack of toiletries. I decided that those silly little travel bottles didn't justify the plastic waste, so in a bid to help save the planet, now just provide a nice fancy soap instead. (I must remove the misleading photo!) The beach does vary enormously depending on the cycles of the moon, and more often than not is a mile long and available for a good half a day. It's such a shame that the beach was at its smallest during your visit, but I'm pleased you enjoyed your stay despite this. Hopefully you will come back and experience our beach with better tides - it really is one of Cornwall's finest! Property Owner
