  • "We really enjoyed our week, its a great base to explore the local area."

The house is a comfortable place to stay with amazing views. The peace and quiet is really relaxing. The house had everything we needed. With 3 young boys the body boarding down at Trebarth Strands Sands was a real hit. We would definitely consider staying again.

  • "Hi lovely place to stay, very clean beautiful views of the sea and great garden for the dogs but not secure."

Small points were There could have been some cushions to sit on the outdoor furniture, toilet seat was loose and the cottage was very cold the first night, we managed to get the heating going the second day but then the weather turned warm. Every kitchen utensil you could wish for but very little storage space for visitors groceries. Very peasant stay and great nearby beach and attractions.

  • "We had a lovely break at Trerubbies and visited the cave the cottage is named after on Tregardock about 40 minutes walk away across fields, a raw to the elements tidal beach with steep steps down."

Trebarwith Strand is a 25 minute walk and the path is a little clogged up due to rain and the farmers using it as a cow path so take good walking boots. This is also a tidal beach suitable for dogs with the window for walking there around 4 or 5 hours at a changing time each day, keep an eye on incoming tides. The pub on the strand serves good food, above average prices but not ridiculous. The cafe is under new ownership and serves good coffee and cakes. We had several fine sunsets and were lucky with the weather for early May. The cottage/barn itself is tastefully furnished, a good conversion of maybe 12-15 years ago with fine views out of upper living floor windows, especially the front main room window. The garden above has excellent views across the fields below towards the sea. There are fields immediately around the cottage with a footpath. The access road is a country lane, it is slow and not for speeders and you cannot really hear the light passing traffic from the garden or house. We were there on the farm alone aside from the farmers ploughing (very late this year due to the heavy rains) and i would say this location suits those that like rural countryside and is not for those wanting easy access to shops and so on. You have to deal with cows on the walks and some farmers in Cornwall don't make access easy for hikers. The other barns were not let during our week and i am not sure how our stay would have been if they were all full in mid summer. The one negative, and these are small points but worthy of mention, there is a pile of builders stuff on the driveway under a blue tarp, it's an unsightly view from the raised porch table where we sat a lot. This area around the deck, table and the rail glass would benefit from TLC maintenance as would a few of the lose pavers around the garden. I would also have loved a recliner chair or two in the garden but i realise this is not a rental house proviso, it's just our car was overloaded and no room for easy recliners! Final point, with the dog kept upstairs which we agree with, it is almost impossible for us to manage their use of chairs. I would prefer to see washable rug covers on the large leather sofas just in case your dog jumps up. Benefits of Trerubbies, fine setting, a well considered barn conversion on a non-working farm, comfy beds, quiet, panoramic outlook, well located for walks to local tidal beaches, sea views. If the maintenance mentioned were carried out, we would have given 5 stars for our stay off season. --

  • "Beautiful location."

Lovely and clean. Fully equipped kitchen. Would benefit from a cupboard being left empty for food storage. Fabulous garden although there is an area that would not suit young children ( a bit of a drop). Also the information given says “ dog friendly” but did not mention that the dog is not allowed downstairs. On arrival there was a note saying no dogs downstairs with “our cleaner will check”. I understand that you want to keep it as clean as possible but prior notice would be good. Overall had a lovely week with my family.

  • "What a fabulous place to stay!"

Trerubies has everything you would need. It is a delightful place - every room thoughtfully decorated and dressed with lots of space. A very well-equipped kitchen and comfortable lounge. The garden is a fabulous space that our dogs loved and the views are wonderful. Great for visiting the expansive coastline. I look forward to returning.

  • "After a 4 hour drive with two kiddies we were cold and tired."

It was so lovely to open the door into a warm, cosy cottage. The property is beautiful and has stunning views, particularly from the living room window, which overlooked the sea. The tea, coffee and scrumptious cookies were very much appreciated upon our arrival. The property is very well equipped and thought out. We have a dog who was not allowed downstairs, which was perfectly understandable. The bedrooms are downstairs and they’re beautifully kept. Our dog was perfectly happy to stay upstairs in his basket. A stair-gate is provided so inquisitive pooches don’t venture down. The cottage was in an excellent location for Tintagel town & castle (only 10 mins drive away), stunning beaches and Rough Tor, where we observed the most incredible starling murmurations we have ever seen! (Next to the sheep in the field). Thank you for an excellent holiday Trerubies!

  • "The most well-equipped cottage we have stayed at."

Literally everything was pretty much provided for you. Beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms and very comfortable to a very high standard. Excellent for a dog to have access to the fields and many local cliff top walks. We were lucky with the weather. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay- thank you. If your dog is used to sleeping near you please note that they are not allowed downstairs and I can understand why.

  • "Lovely property in a beautiful location we loved watching the sun set every night over the sea view from the lounge window."

Positives Very quiet area Spacious living area Well equipped kitchen Large garden/ field Nice to have shower and bath Negatives Absolutely no phone service - not a problem if you have wifi but that did not work for the first 3 days until fixed - hard to communicate that to company/ property management without service or wifi. Once fixed it would have been nice of them to check everything was ok. Not advertised in original listing but no dogs allowed downstairs in bedroom area ( not a problem for us as ours stays on his bed) Also not allowed on sofa (again not a problem for us but could be for some especially as left in lounge area over night) Could be nice to have some blankets for sofa it was a bit chilly in the evening (we brought our own) Overall lovely stay and would stay again, the other houses on the estate looked nice too.

About the location

DELABOLE

Tintagel 3.5 miles; Camelford 3.4 miles; Port Isaac 5.3 miles.

At one time the producer of the world’s best quality building and ornamental slate, this now sleepy village is just 2.5 miles from the high cliffs and dramatic scenery of the north Cornish coastline. Perfectly placed for walking the South West coastal path, exploring the high places of nearby Bodmin Moor, or for lazing on the beach at nearby Trebarwith Strand, it’s a well-placed holiday base. The peaceful harbour village of Port Isaac and the town of Tintagel, with its tourist attractions and King Arthur’s legendary castle, are both a short drive, while the stunning surfing beach at Polzeath is a mere nine miles away. Slaughtersbridge, where King Arthur reputedly fought his last battle, is five minutes away and a drive north along the coast takes in the beautiful cove at Crackington Haven. An area away from the main tourist crowds, but very central to a vast array of places and activities. Delabole Quarry itself is just down the road and is an interesting tourist attraction with stunning views. It is the gateway to great countryside walks.
