Some nice up grades since last yeah, lovely new oven, the Garden is stunning and the new bathroom is something else. Home from home, clean, cozy, perfect.

  • "The cottage was a pleasant place, however the bed linen had a horrible musty smell, the mattress in the main bedroom was not comfortable and the single room had the most horrendously squeaky bed."

Didn’t enjoy the stay at all because of this, the house wasn’t clean upon arrival. Would not stay again.

We are glad you found Quarry cottage a pleasant place. We were, however, very surprised to read your comments about musty bedlinen and the cottage not having been cleaned… Lucy, our cleaner/caretaker was still doing this when you arrived an hour earlier than expected. We’re puzzled that you didn’t contact either Helpful Holidays or Lucy to discuss these issues so they could rectify things We respectfully remind guests not to allow their dogs in or on the beds. The cottage was well managed by Lucy who was communicative and very helpful, The local area is served by a brilliant pub- The Royal Standard, and a superb local shop, which has everything. We will be booking again, this place is an absolute gem. Thank you Lucy, we had a superb holiday- The Owens.

For us it was a good bases to discover south Cornwall. But also Flushing itself, with a nice pub, good restaurant and shop for some basics has its charms. We would certainly like to come back.

  • "We have stayed here several times but feel that the quality has dropped."

Dirty oven, hand towels with bleach marks, chipped plates and cups. Mould stains in bathroom. Non matching bedding. It's a big shame as the cottage has always been lovely, but we do not feel it is value for money.

Thank you so much for taking the time to complete your feedback following your recent stay at Quarry Cottage. We have spoken with the property owner in relation to your comments and they have confirmed that they are visiting the property themselves very shortly and will attend to all of the points you raise. New crockery has already been purchased, along with new glasses. After a busy summer season they will of course look at the bedding and bathroom stains. They thank you for your feedback and appreciate it very much and hope to welcome you back again in the near future. Property Owner

  • "Quarry cottage is in a great location, there’s plenty of room and offers good information for the area."

Things to consider for future guests- the house itself is very worn- ie paper peeling, bath rusty etc and most of the crockery: glassware is chipped. It would also have been nice to have a mattress protector and clean pillows, some of ours were pretty tatty, and some pressed bed linen. The kitchen is great and well stocked and a good hot shower! The place itself is a great base to explore Flushing, Falmouth and surrounding areas.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you experienced these issues. We will be attending to them on the next changeover and plan to refurbish the bathroom over the winter. Mattress protectors are usually provided, this must have been overlooked on this occasion. We're pleased to hear of your positive comments too and look forward to welcoming you at Quarry Cottage in the future. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay in quarry cottage."

It’s fairly basic accommodation but in a nice spot and comfortable beds. Good selection of crockery etc in the kitchen. The local pub was very nice - friendly for families and good food. The ferry to Falmouth was fun, but £20 return for family of 4 made it pricey. A few suggestions: We didn’t read through the guest book until the last night and realised there were lots of recommendations in there for places to visit - it would be great if they could be included in the welcome pack instead. There was a DVD player and lots of dvds which we were looking forward to using but no lead to connect it to the tv. The smart tv upstairs didn’t seem to work properly - perhaps the internet didn’t reach. Please provide soap to wash hands - only a tiny amount of handwash provided which ran out after a few days.

Thank you for your feedback which we always welcome and we are pleased to hear you had a lovely holiday. We do leave a welcome pack on the table for guests to ready on their arrival. We have spoken to our housekeeper and she will check the TV and missing cable as well as provide more hand soap for guests. Property Owner

  • "By far the best equipped cottage we have stayed in which added enormously to our enjoyment."

The cleaning was a little hit and miss i.e. top shelf in the kitchen area had significant cobwebs but overall no major issues. Lots of info provided to aid our discovery of the local area and the amenities offered. The village itself is lovely but larking can be difficult. It is a shame that pets are no longer allowed as we would have visited again

Thank you for your feedback. Your comments have been passed on to the owner. In older properties, it can be really hard to keep cobwebs at bay and they can appear after the clean has taken place or during the stay through no fault of the cleaner. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Quarry cottage, such a lovely cottage and the village was quaint and full of friendly folk."

There was a fair bit of hustle and bustle for such a small place, we liked the feeling of knowing people were going about their day. The view from the harbour over to Falmouth was gorgeous and we loved getting the ferry over to visit. Plenty of places that serve vegan food if you're looking for that. Only issues were a couple of broken items, dvd player, hoover and electric fan heater, but other than that the cottage was well supplied and very comfortable. We will definitely be staying again.

The actual village made up for our disappointment with the cottage.

We are sorry to hear that the property did not meet your expectations. • "For the duration of our holiday the weather was very cold, frost most nights."

The heating was inadequate, the storage heaters switched on at 23.00 and off at 08.00, throughout the day and evening they were cold. The only heating available during waking hours were two fan heaters, both of which were noisy. The owner was contacted, but no improvement was suggested. The lounge and kitchen were comfortable and well equipped, but the rest of the property is tired and in need of renovation. The property is well located within Flushing and we had an enjoyable holiday only marred by the ineffective heating.

We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay at Quarry Cottage, liking Flushing and the area surrounding it. Unfortunately the weather can be unpredictable and cold nights can happen even at the end of April. Quarry Cottage does have the characteristic Cornwall cottage storage heaters which charges up during the night and then releases slowly the heat through the day. As the owners informed you after you contacted them, to help keeping the property warm at night they installed a lovely flame-effect electric wood burner in the lounge and they also provide 2 fan heaters that can be moved anywhere in the property. There are also 2 hot water bottles that will help you snuggle on the couch. The owners took the opportunity to freshly repaint the property at the end of March and they made sure to keep the furniture in perfect state as true to the photos, so guests will always know how the lovely Quarry Cottage presents even before arriving. We hope the sun will rise and warmly shine for your next visit so you will be able to enjoy not only Quarry Cottage but also explore all Cornwall. Property Owner

The Seven Stars pub round the corner is a great spot to sit outside in the evening sunshine. There’s a handy village shop and the Falmouth passenger ferry which runs every half an hour is a fun way to reach all the amenities of the town. The owner tried to rectify the situation without success. He did offer us a small reimbursement for the inconvenience. It is difficult to plan a vacation without the internet to book activities. The WiFi problem seems to have happened before so not an isolated problem. The home is lovely and nicely situated. Would definitely book again if WiFi is corrected.

Surprisingly a lot larger than it looks from the outside. The homely touches (dog treats, dog blanket, cleaning products, Cornish biscuits, tea, coffee and fresh milk in the fridge) were a lovely added bonus. Good sized towels were also appreciated, a big bug bare of ours is these titchy towels you often get in hotels! Two great pubs in the village serving good food. Cornwall is very dog friendly. Falmouth and St Ives are must see visits.
