  • "A great 3 night stay for us and our dog."

The property was perfectly situated for the places we wanted to visit. Comfortable bed and lounge furniture plus the enclosed patio/garden was ideal for our dog. Looking at a return next year.

  • "This bungalow was perfect for a family of three and two dogs."

The beds were super comfortable, and there was a well equipped kitchen, with all appliances. Improvements we would suggest would be perhaps a coffee machine eg a nespresso capsule type machine. And also the house really needs a washing line outside eg a 10 meter retractable on that can be hocked onto the walls as you need it. There is only a small airer currently which is not enough for a family with things like beach towels and normal amounts of laundry.

  • "Overall this a great little bungalow and great location."

Bungalow is well equipped with comfy beds and we found everything we needed to make evening meals. The outside space worked really well for our dog and was fully secure. The negatives were no hairdryer - not great with a teenage daughter and mum who didn’t pack theirs! Also the property looks surface clean on arrival but the drawers and wardrobe shelves needed dusting before unpacking clothes in them and the floors needed a good hoover. The outside furniture needs tipping as it’s pretty rusty and grim! We did enjoy our stay and think it could be a great little bungalow it just needs a more thorough clean with such regular guest turnover and new garden seating.

  • "We had been very much looking forward to our trip having been to this part of Cornwall Wall many times before."

When we arrived after a 4 hr drive. The worktops in the kitchen dirtys and all the dining table also dirty. I though ok these are minor things there was cleaning items there i'll wash everything down. We dropped our things off as it was a sunny day. The rain came in we got soaked. Came back to have a shower no hot water. Thought brilliant. There was a john bray booklet in property after ring many numbers we finally got one that worked , well the gentleman said please text me. So we explained we had no water. Was asked to leave property while it was fixed. I contacted them a few hrs later as we had heard nothing. It had been fixed so after been sat in soaking wet clothes for 2 hrs we went back to get a note left from maintenance it would take a further 2 hrs for the water to warm up. This is absolutely not what you expect. 4 hrs in soaking wet clothes to wait for a shower. Then we finally at 9.30pm got into the shower and it flooded with 1 min of being on. We didn't phone maintenance as to be honest we just couldn't be bothered after it took 4 hrs the last time and it was a Saturday night and we were meant to be on holiday. The outside light hardly even worked and wasn't bright enough for the location of the proprty anyone elderly woukd habe struggked if they also had taken a dog. Then the following day tried to wash our dogs with outside shower this also didn't work and looked like it hadn't for a long time. We had stayed in a John bray cottage at Christmas in padstow Town which was absolutely wonderful we had so many lovely touches left for us. This property how ever did not live up to the pictures or standards of that. The halls in the main bedroom had cracks all over them and so did all the hallway walls and walls in living room the whole length where radiator is. John bray contacted us when we arrived home and I explained everything with them. I also contacted Sykes cottages who didn't want to know and offered us no refund. They said we should have contacted house keeping to come and clean the property again for us and also would have sent a plumber out. To be completely honest it took 4 hrs to fix the boiler we were completely fed up and why should we be contacting them when 1 the property should of been clean and 2 should surely check all facilities work before advertising them as so. What made matter worse after I had made my complaints to John bray and skyes I went on the review pay to make a review and they same comment had been made by someone who had stayed in the property one month earlier so they obviously took my £400 for a 3 night stay in early March and didn't bother fixing any of the issues. I would absolutely not book with Sykes cottages again. The accomodation was in a fairly remote place with several cottages around ours which we didn't mind this at all as we visit the area 5/6times a year. And perfect for the things we do but the pictures don't show a true reflection of property. And if you happy ringing multiple times to get thing fixed that's ok but we were not as we tried to enjoy our holiday so stay out as much as possible. For the price we paid in March there were many nicer property's which was a shame .

Thankyou for your feedback. We are sorry to hear about the issues you had during your stay and how we could not resolve these faster for you. We can only appreciate your patience but understand your frustrations. We hope you still managed to enjoy your stay with us and hope we can have you back again in the future. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "The shower does not drain well and floods bathroom, many areas of bathroom in disrepair requiring remedial work."

The curtains in main bedroom were threadbare and you can see straight through them. The kitchen utensils were awful, flimsy old and not one sharp knife. There are no hooks on doors or anywhere to be able to hang clothes on, no where easy with a mirror to dry hair or put make up on. The cleaners mid way were superb and did a fantastic job of cleaning. So thanks to them. Very tired property indeed needs overhauling decorating etc. it doesn’t live up to the photographs and is extremely dark in front room. The car park kept flooding from the back/front gate and it made it hard to get in and out of the car. We tried all the phone numbers on the day we arrived (Saturday) as no clear instructions for the heating and immersion were left and those that were there were from a past letting company with 3 different WiFi codes, plus to mention the shower draining. We were unable to get a response from any of the numbers and you ring one number only to be told to ring another so we went without and muddled along. We have stayed in all the houses in upper and lower Treglyn but this was the most uncomfortable of them all. Which is such a shame as such a great place to be.

Thank you for taking the time to share your honest feedback with us. We are sorry to hear that you experienced maintenance issues during your stay, and that the points above had a negative impact on your holiday.
