  • "We had such a wonderful stay here, so much space inside and out, the farm is wonderful and was great for our children the owners are so friendly so the highlight for us was being able to go and see so many animals most mornings."

The location is really good too for some of the best beaches, although it is off any main roads signal is hard to get and the WiFi doesn’t work well for watching videos etc but that didn’t bother us at all and we enjoyed playing games etc! We would defiantly stay here again and we felt it was really good value for money!

  • "Lovely character house cottage with plenty of room."

We found it well equipped and comfortable, and had a good holiday. One problem which should be mentioned in the listing is that with poor mobile reception, and a broadband speed measured at 0.3Mbps, access to the internet from the cottage was very limited using either wifi or mobile data. OK for emails, but very slow surfing the web (to find or book attractions) and impossible to download films or BBC iplayer to watch in the evening. Our host advised that nothing could be done about the broadband speed

  • "We stayed at Westroose farmhouse for the last week in May 23 and we loved it."

The house dates back to the 16th century and it shows there are a myriad of odd angles and beams with stone flagstones downstairs and creaky wooden floorboards upstairs. The house is full of original features and you could spend the entire week figuring out the build and purpose of various nooks and cranny’s. Situated on a working dairy farm the gardens are lovely and there is loads of room for kids to run around both inside and outside so no going stir crazy. Pretty much every door way is low so for bald headed blokes over 6 foot tall like me you might want to consider a hat indoors or risk bumps and scrapes (I was still bumping my head at the end of the week and now that I am home find myself stopping to go through my own doors). The house is fitted with very comfortable furniture, excellent wifi and a TV along with a fully fitted kitchen and a couple of decent showers. Shirley our hostess was very friendly and helpful, the family had a look round the farm and one of the lads dropped us in some gratia eggs (20 mixed sizes) which went down well. There are in addition to lots of dairy cows, a number of other animals on the farm including free range chickens, guinea fowl and peacocks all of which pop in out of the garden for a nibble in the grass which is always entertaining. Getting to the location is simple if you follow the instructions implicitly or you could like me ignore them and take a tour of the local farms and narrow lanes. Once there its not far to some fantastic beaches or venture further afield. We were really comfortable there, the house has a lovely vibe and the super thick walls keep it cool in the summer, if you are looking for somewhere far from the madding crowd then this might suit.

Had a fantastic time at westroose the owners are friendly and helpful they showed the ones in our party who asked round the farm and gave them an insight in dairy farming which I’m told was fascinating The two dogs are so friendly as are the goats The house is huge we were a party of 5 even spread out we didn’t take up no where near all the space available but it was nice to have large gardens too along with complete peace and quiet would highly recommend to anyone looking for a rural retreat but still within easy reach of the coast

  • "What a wonderful place."

So full of history with lovely features that you cannot help but fall in love with this place. The owners are so incredibly friendly and helpful. The added bonus of the farm animals really made our stay perfect for the children. Such a quiet and safe location where you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere but the beautiful beaches aren't that far away. Lovely garden that the children (ages 14, 11, 8, 7, 4 & 3) could play in plus lots of space indoors that we could spread out into. There isn't a single negative to this place. We all loved it and would highly recommend it as the perfect place to stay to explore Cornwall.

  • "A charming 16 century farmhouse."

It is quirky,as it should be with all its history. We had glorious weather whilst there and were able to make the most of the 3 gardens. Very remote but that said perfect to get away from it all!! Make sure you duck at every doorway otherwise there will be very sore heads. The grandchildren loved it and their bedroom was large enough for them to play in when they woke up. One little gripe, the beds seriously need new mattresses, way past their best. If you get a comfortable night then all is well.

  • "A beautiful property which we adored."

The character, space and gardens so lovely. However this property falls below standards for a comfortable stay. It needs updating and a little more care given to furnishings, bedding, kitchen and bathroom facilities. Some simple improvements wouldn't cost much to make a cleaner fresher environment. We love rustic and isolation but homely basic comforts were not catered for. Eg we had no hot water for a day after it was fixed by the owner and the furnishings were very damp smelling and carpets very dusty. However we literally fell in love with this charming building.

We put 2 blankets and 2 duvets on the mattress to make it better. Still dipped badly in the middle. The 2 single beds in the other double room mattresses need to be looked at as well as we had to place blankets on the left hand bed as well. All other facilities good. Good place for a family holiday. We liked the birds roaming freely around.

  • "Really lovely farmhouse, we loved all the original features!"

It was so quiet there too, really peaceful holiday for us. We did some nice cycling around the quiet lanes near the house and also on the Camel Trail. Did a trip to Bodmin Jail which has been updated since our last visit. The people on the farm were very friendly, even bringing us some fresh eggs! The farmhouse was very clean and tidy and had everything we needed. The upstairs shower is a bit weak, but I expect this is due to water pressure and impossible to rectify - it did the job however and it was always nice and hot! The bedrooms are so big! It was great to have lots of space, especially for my mum who needs a frame now to get around so she had plenty of room to manouver! We loved the family sitting room with the dining table in it - we spent all out time in there, nice and cosy with the fire going. The 'night light' on the landing is a nice touch.

The host was very accommodating giving advice about the farmhouse and surrounding area. A nice touch was the welcome cakes. When we had some free time at the farm we were shown around and introduced to the livestock and given an insight to being a dairy farmer. The farmhouse was very large with character. Our party didn't need all the space it provided but it did allow use to feel at home. Our friends from Australia found the quirkiness of the low beams and sloping floors fascinating. We all agreed we had found a gem of a place to stay.

We had plenty of space and we were made to feel very welcome. The farm house has lovely gardens plenty of safe room to play. We made friends with the chickens and our adventures over the fields to the pub will be remembered fondly. Lots of walks and we picked blackberrys and saw loads of birds butterflies birds of prey, learned about cows. Very convenient for beaches with the quiet of the country. The only thing I would add to the Farmhouse would be a tumble dryer.
