  • "A great Mon-Fri break for 6 adults where we enjoyed the local coastline and tourists spots as well as a few off the beacon walks!"

Weather was kind so we explored each day and made use of the house to eat in with a meal at Kind Arthur's in Tintagel which was great. Little Jonwyns was a new venture with the lighting app but sorted and worked well. A bit chilly so the extra blankets were great! A little note to say that the bunk room in Jonwyns really is not suitable for adults at all even on the single - a little cramped but it certainly didn't spoil our stay. We all would definitely consider a revisit but it is always good to travel in a different area but never say never. Thank you so much for the goodies left too!

Thank you for taking time to write a review and providing feedback, Pauline. We are so glad you had a great time and hope you consider a re-visit in the not too distant future. Best wishes, Dean & Debs :-) Property Owner

  • "Such a beautiful cottage, we loved staying here."

Was well equipped and even better than on the photos. The only thing that was dissapointing was that the mattress in the master bedroom was quite uncomfortable. As the rest of the house is furnished to such a high standard, its a shame the matrress did not make for a comfortable nights sleep and the blinds did not keep any light out of the room.

Thank you for taking the time to write a response, Joanne. We are so glad you had a nice stay and sorry that you didn't feel the mattress in the master bedroom was not comfortable enough for you. All the mattresses in the house are good quality and there is also a topper on each of them so I will look into this. Thank you for your feedback and we do hope you consider a return in the not too distant future. Debs & Dean. Property Owner

  • "The house was lovely and in a convenient location for exploring N Cornwall."

unfortunately the weather didn't allow us to make use of the garden and patio. Our dog quickly settled in the dog bed making himself at home and I found a couple of short walks across the road for to exercise him in the mornings. It would have been helpful to have known that the only means of making coffee was a pod machine, and a few more dish washer tablets would have made life easier (maybe one for each day of the stay) But overall we had a great time thank you

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay, Ann, but sorry that the weather was inclement. Being so close to the Atlantic, it does sometimes have a mind of its own. Sorry that you didn't feel the Information regarding coffee making was adequate; we consider that this is well covered - 2x Nespresso machines / 2x kettles / Cafetiere in the kitchen cupboard plus the complimentary pods and sachets that are left. Regardless - we will look at how the write up can be tweaked. Noted also regarding the dishwasher tablets. We do hope you consider a return in the not too distance future. Dean & Debs Property Owner

  • "We all enjoyed our stay here and although a lovely location it was closer to a busy road than expected but not a problem, beautiful cottage, very spacious and light with high end fittings and fixtures, the cleaner could do with a nudge though as living room was still covered in previous dogs hair and some pots and pans being unusable sadly are my negatives oh plus garden table/chair set were not safe for use, would definitely book again sometime though."

Thank you for your feedback; we are glad you enjoyed your stay. I am not sure why the garden chairs and table was unsafe - we were at the property only two weeks ago and everything was fine. We will look into this. The house is usually spotless so we will look to see what has happened during this particular clean. Glad you are considering re-booking in the future. • "We had a wonderful week at Jonwyns."

The quality of the accommodation, furnishings and decor were lovely. As a base for that part of the north Cornish coast it was excellent, and Tintagel literally was 10 minutes away. As the overall ambience and quality of the accommodation was to such a high standard it was a shame that 3 of the 6 garden chairs were very rickety and did not feel safe to use. We contacted the property managers to let them know. We also found the sauté pans were worn and food caught easily. We are aware most people will not cook, however as we enjoyed our time here we felt it was important to feed this back…. Not a complaint, just for info… thank you for sharing your home with us .

Thank you for your review, Jo; we are so glad you had a good time. Thank you for your feedback regarding the oven trays and for being great guests. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Debs and Dean. Property Owner

The location is excellent and the house is comfortable and well equipped. The listing did mention a firepit though, which we couldn't find (?) Otherwise a really relaxing holiday (and lovely September weather) from a perfect base to explore the North coast of Cornwall.

Thank you for your review, Lesley. We are so glad you had a good time. Apologies for the missing fire pit - we hope it did not detract too much from your stay. Dean & Debs Property Owner

  • "Overall we loved our stay at Jonwyns."

We thought there were some really great touches - well equipped kitchen (lots of plates, bowls, glasses, serving dishes etc….) comfy sofas and living space, light and airy in the kitchen-living room area. Second sitting room cosy and would be perfect in winter. Loved the view to the mine. Garden nice - just wished we could have used it (we had wet weather all week). We did manage to get one BBQ in. Nicely decorated. Wi-Fi was very good! Good instructions to find it in welcome email. This property is like a home rather than just a place to stay. A couple of very small details: 1) Black out blind in bunk bed room 2) Window cleaner? 3) A washing machine combined with a drier. We had a wet week and the option to tumble dry a few things would have been good. 4) I meant to leave a note but the sink and shower in the main bathroom did not drain very well. Probably just needs some unblocking liquid. 5) King sized bed or even just replace the mattresses? 6) The cottage had a real fusty smell on arrival. This subsided after a day or two after opening all windows but maybe on exchange day it would be good to open all the windows. These points did not really affect our stay and we would absolutely stay again but just thought we’d say as sometimes the finer details can make a difference.

Thanks for the feedback, Bonnie - we will look into the points you have raised. We are so glad you had a great time despite the inclement weather; being so close to the coast, it does tend to have a mind of its own. Thanks for being great guests and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Debs & Dean Property Owner

Well equipped kitchen and lovely comfy living rooms. Really was such a lovely place and the owners bent over backwards to help us with our residency so we can get married in the parish of Tintagel. Cannot fault this cottage or the owners at all. There was bread and milk and some fudge and biscuits when we got there and a really lovely atmosphere. Cannot recommended this place enough!

The location of the cottage is wonderful and the cottage itself is both spacious and cosy at the same time. We went for many walks in the area and also visited the Port William pub in Trebarwith Strand on many occasions which is well worth a visit. We hope to visit Jonwyns again in the not to distant future. • "Jonwyns is a well appointed tastefully refurbished cottage in an ideal location, set back from the road with good parking for three vehicles."

Although close to a road traffic is extremely light even during the rush hour. Kitchen facilities and equipment were of a high standard and appliances were easy to use. The kitchen/dining/sitting area was such a lovely space for eating and relaxing that we did not use the second sitting room during our stay although this was also a lovely cosy room. We can definitely recommend this cottage and hope to return again very soon. The only observation we would make is that it would be helpful to mention in the information pack that the microwave is in the external utility room as it is not initially apparent, That said, this is a lovely cottage in an idyllic location.

Many thanks for your feedback, Wendy; noted regarding the instructions about the microwave's location. We are so glad you had a nice week at Jonwyns, and are contemplating a return visit soon. Dean & Debs Property Owner

  • "We had a great week at Jonwyns."

The inside of the house is well equipped and to a great standard. Outside space is ample for a family holiday with a grass area and also a large patio are with patio table and chairs. Even has a pizza oven but we weren’t brave enough to fire it up. We made use of the log burner in the main living area on the chillier nights and when the weather was a little inclement. The cleanliness of the property was excellent and no issues that we could find. The location of Jonwyns is ideal to use as a base for North Cornwall and South Devon. Within easy reach of Bude, Wadebridge and other tourist destinations. We walked locally down to the “Port William” pub in Trebarwith Strand. It is a good walk but worth it with the food and beers as a reward. We also ate out in Tintagel at a little vegan restaurant called “Vega”, great food, good portions and friendly proprietor. All in all this is an excellent property and would definitely consider staying again when we are back in the area.

  • "Beautiful cottage, comfortable and very well equipped with high quality fixtures and fittings."

We would recommend it and would love to stay here again. However a couple of things need addressing. The heating didn't work well and it took 2 days to get the underfloor heating really warm downstairs and the radiators elsewhere were barely lukewarm for most of the time. Thankfully there were 2 portable radiators which worked well and we were able to warm it up with those. If they hadn't been provided we would have called the owners. We did not need to use the second living room which is just as well as it was like a fridge. Also the bins at the front door were overflowing on the day we arrived with both recycling and rubbish. The bins were not emptied during our stay and no info as to when they should be put out was provided. This needs addressing as it's not a good welcome to what is otherwise a fantastic cottage in a lovely location. Jonwyns is close to beautiful Trebarwith Strand and Tintagel, and many other lovely places. The well enclosed garden was very safe for our dogs.

Thank you for your valuable feedback. We are sorry you experienced a few issues with the heating. I am not sure what could have been the problem as it works well and kicks in if the air temperature drops below the set comfort temperature (21 degrees by default). The instructions for re-setting this were detailed in the 'in-house' booklet and pdf instructions we sent you. I am not sure what happened with the bins - again there are instructions in the book and we have a private company that collects / empties from their current location outside the property. They should have been empty on your arrival, so I will contact the firm that is responsible to find out why they weren't. Once again, we are glad you had a nice stay and do apologise for these issues. Thank you for booking Jonwyns and we look forward to welcoming you back soon. Property Owner

We felt very at home, the house has all the home comforts you could want, we especially enjoyed the log fires, selection of board games and bubble baths with a view. All within a short distance to the coast on foot and close to other great places to visit. Our dogs enjoyed the enclosed garden and all the walkies, and it was so lovely to be able to stay somewhere so nice with dogs. Alot of care has been put in to making this a beautiful home. Only things to mention is we did have a problem with the water pressure when someone else was using water the taps upstairs stopped working we were only a group of 3 but imagine this could be a problem for larger groups so may need looking at. Highly recommend you stay here!

Thank you, Emma, for your positive comments and constructive feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay, and your time in the property and surrounding area.
