  • "Very nice property - very cosy."

The only downside for me is the bed is poor quality. Wonderful setting with a fantastic pool. Lovely and quiet. No WiFi at all, but not a problem for us.

  • "Daisy Lodge was in a peaceful and beautiful location but the drive to and from on the lane outside is not for the " faint hearted" !"

! Overall the cottage was a lovely place to stay, clean and adequately equipped BUT the double bed was really extremely uncomfortable and in my opinion should be replaced. The towels were good, plenty of hot water and a good shower. Lots of lovely outside space. Weather wasn't kind to us so we didn't use the pool.

  • "Some of the images listed for Daisy Cottage are actually its sister Cottage next door."

This is misleading. The double bed is very uncomfortable, some of the cutlery is broken and the microwave didn’t work. These issues have been reported to the host and he says he will fix them. The WiFi does not work and the TV has no smart apps such as Netflix. This was a bit disappointing considering as the Cottage is described as luxury but it’s definitely not. Positives are the peaceful rural location and private swimming pool is really great. Just could do with being a little bit warmer for young kids and it would be perfect! We enjoyed our stay but we would not book again for the reasons described above.

Lovely little place set in a big field that was perfect for the girls run around. The pool was lovely too as were the boats. Most places are only 15 or so minutes away - May we’ll be back!

  • "There is a tiny train station less just over a kilometre from the property meaning that getting to Looe was a breeze with no hassle of parking."

(£6 return for the whole family). The property was great, just no hairdryer or dishwasher and fridge was very small. But there was a washing machine which was great.

The property

A private, tree lined drive takes you to this lovely Scandinavian-style lodge which provides stylish and modern accommodation near the seaside town of Looe in South East Cornwall.

Hidden from the owners’ property and with similar styled properties on site, this is a fabulous rural retreat for couples and families.

Two lovely bedrooms are on the ground floor along with a shower room and open plan living area, where you can throw open the door and catch some countryside air.

Outside there is a private decking area which is perfect for alfresco dining or for just relaxing with a coffee.

For the days you wish to just relax, there is a lovely shared garden area and a heated swimming pool perfect for a splash in the sun.

The seaside town of Looe is an all year round location with a working fishing port where you can buy fresh fish for your tea.

Well-known for its food and eateries, take your pick from fish and chips near the river to gourmet menus in smart restaurants overlooking the harbour.

The beach is easily accessible and the Looe Museum reveals a fascinating collection of smuggling memorabilia, which is well worth a visit.

A day trip to the Monkey Sanctuary is fun and educational, where you can meet the monkeys or even become a keeper for the day and for those who wish to tour the area, memorable experiences await with expansive beaches at Whitsand Bay, the vibrant city of Plymouth and the awe inspiring gardens a the Eden Project, all within easy driving distance.

There are three other properties within the same grounds that are also available – Cider Cottage, Sam's Cabin and Smugglers Cottage.

A fabulous location for the family holiday or maybe a romantic winter break.

About the location

LOOE

Polperro 5 miles.

Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. You can also catch the river taxi between East and West Looe. East Looe has narrow cobbled streets, twisting alleyways and plenty of tourist shops, whilst West Looe has a lovely outlook across the harbour. Looe’s viewpoint, Banjo Pier, can be reached from the quay and is a great spot to watch the returning fishing trawlers and look across the bay to Looe Island, which can be walked to occasionally at very low tides. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. There is also a great rock pool area at Hannafore that children will love. West Looe has a Heritage Centre that recently opened in the Old Sardine Factory with a climbing wall and a cafe and the delightful Kilminorth Woods have way marked walks through the majestic oak wood, rich in plant, insect and bird life. Apart from beach activities in this part of south east Cornwall, there are many mining remains on Bodmin Moor and in the Tamar Valley and much of the mining landscape has World Heritage status. This area of Cornwall has inspired writers, such as Daphne du Maurier and much of Bodmin Moor has inspired legends linked with King Arthur. There is much to explore in this beautiful part of Cornwall.
