  • "The property on listings needs more while we did make the most of it but if the details of the had said about the cottage was next to the church & the garden back on to a grave yard we would have booked the stay plus were the bed was you not have mobility issue has you to crawl over the bed each night."

I would also point out none of the things I have highlighted were not anywhere on the listing & after the bell ringing for 2 plus hours we packed up & came home 3 days early.

  • "The cottage is in a good area which has shops, a butchers shop and a great pub which we ate at a few times during our weeks stay."

There is also a 15 minute walk to Par for another pub. The cottage is small but what you would expect for one bedroom. Getting into bed at night was a challenge as the ceiling slopes, therefore you have to get in and out from the bottom as there is no space to stand up from the sides of the bed. Once we mastered the challenge, we found the bed was comfortable and we could sit up to read. I wouldn’t recommend for a tall person or anyone with mobility issues though, as there are three wooden ladder like steps to climb beforehand and the dressing room/bedroom, which is separate also has a sloping ceiling which is difficult to stand up in, (I’m 5’ 2”) We had a good week, weather wise and made the most of it by walking a few coastal paths visiting various villages nearby. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back to the area.

  • "Lovely cottage in a lovely village with everything you need."

Really unusual/ quirky (in a good way) cottage for young couples. Very cosy

  • "Perfect little cottage for a couple and a dog."

Despite being in the heart of the village it is really quiet and private with a delightful good sized and very dog secure shingled courtyard garden right next to the church yard. In terms of location, it couldn't be better, with a small general shop and an excellent butcher just across the road. A few hundred yards away is a really dog friendly pub with large garden and an excellent menu. We ate there several times during the week. The walk to Par sands beach is a pleasant 15-20 min stroll down a hill. The beach itself is a doggy paradise. We found a nice loop walk which takes about 45 mins. The accomodation has everything you need and is cosy, comfy and very clean with well proportioned and equipped modern kitchen and bathroom. The upstairs is quirky, with a low ceiling bedroom area and a separate spacious dressing room/cot room. A stair gate was provided which was useful to keep our two small dogs downstairs. We loved sliding into the large and comfortable bed at night but anyone with physical disabilities may find it a challenge with the low pitched roof and open steps. The owner Mark was a pleasure to deal with and answered any queries promptly by text. There is no off road parking but we had no problem parking directly opposite and there was always a space on our return from days out. In short, a real gem of a cottage and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. (Please note there is no sea view from the cottage despite the icon in the description......a minor point).

  • "We were unlucky to arrive on an evening when the local pub had an event which meant no parking in the village."

Listing could be clearer to alert folk that it is street parking. It is important for the listing to highlight the difficulties the mezzanine bedroom may pose for anyone with mobility issues....we just about coped Main issue though was a cooker bulb blew the trip switch, and this took out the fridge full of our fresh food and frozen food, we had a real problem locating the fuse box, (which is expertly hidden!) and despite numerous attempts the owners never responded to any of our calls during the entire week .....this level of poor communication is a significant issue. Otherwise it was a very clean and modern quirky house and we had an enjoyable time in the village.

  • "Pretty much what we expected."

Good value. Slightly more claustrophobic in the bedroom than I had expected (I'm quite short, I thought I would be able to sit up on the bed. I was wrong). Would probably be happy to stay there again should we be returning to the area, we had a lovely time.

Hi Jane, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and thanks for the positive feedback. The bedroom is quite cosy! I agree that it is necessary to duck below the beams ,however , I would just like to reassure future guests that sitting up in bed to have a morning cuppa or read your book is not a problem. Glad you had a lovely time and hope to have you back at the Rashleigh's. Best wishes, Mark Property Owner

There are several safe, sandy beaches close to the village, with a variety of watersports and leisure activities available. Par, a small, china clay port with a dog friendly sandy beach is a fifteen minute walk from the village or 5 minutes in the car, home to a main line railway station. Polkerris Beach, a 30 minute walk or a 5 minute drive away, has a beachside restaurant, pub and watersports centre. The attractive waterside village of Fowey is just three miles away, from where there are some dramatic cliff walks to Gribbin Head, passing through much of du Maurier’s familiar landscape. There are many family attractions in the area, including Mevagissey and Charlestown harbours, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.
