  • "Would have been to have had a tea pot, a bread bin, maybe salt and pepper and a couple of tea bags and if it was me I would have put a vase of flowers somewhere!"

  • "Dear Sir or Madam, first of all, please excuse our late assessment of the holiday home "Marine Cottage" in Rock, Cornwall."

It was a wonderful cottage, exactly as we had imagined, with enough space for four adults. The garden is also beautiful with the benches and the old fruit trees. The house was clean on the surface, there is no cure for spiders in rural areas. However, the bathroom cabinet and kitchen cabinets, the oven and the microwave were not exactly in a clean condition, so we did not use these appliances. All in all: It was a successful holiday in this house. Our thanks also go to the caretaker, who helped us close the door from the living room to the garden on the first evening. He was there so quickly and was very friendly. Embarrassingly, we don't know this locking system from Germany and were a little overwhelmed. But we will always remember it and laugh about it! Thank you very much. Martina and Olaf Freerksen

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our week the location of the cottage was great and all shops close we could walk to were great bakers, butchers, wet fish and stores."

We used the Ferry to Padstow a few times. Beaches are great. We loved the cottage lots of space. The downstairs bedroom we did not use and it was quite damp. Not so good - There was dog poo in the garden and bones which was not cleared up, also a large dog bowl - and we felt owners could afford to leave some cleaning materials like Loo rolls, bin liners, washing up liquid and tablets it’s not much to ask considering. All the sash windows could do with a clean especially downstairs in bedroom and bathroom. Having said this it’s just attention to detail and we would book again. Imelda

  • "Really enjoyed our stay."

Plenty of space and the garden was great for family time with our grandchildren. A couple of areas that were disappointing: The fourth bedroom was essentially a converted store room with little ventilation resulting in a damp space. General cleanliness was not great.

  • "Overall the cottage was great, lovely amount of space for the kids, beautiful garden well maintained & set right next to countryside so provided a very peaceful environment."

It was probably a little further from the beach than I would have preferred but I knew this when booking so it didn’t detract from our stay. I would definitely consider booking the property again as it had everything we needed.

Thanks so much for sharing feedback from your stay at Marine Cottage. We are pleased you had everything needed for an enjoyable stay and we would love you to visit again - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "I have just given full feedback to Sykes but in brief, the property is as described in terms of the size and layout, is comfortable and was adequately clean."

The main issues we had were with items breaking and not being rectified quickly enough. For example, we were unable to cook on the Sunday because the hob broke first thing and was not fixed until the Monday. Could be an absolutely wonderful base for a holiday, but there needs to be a much quicker response to issues.

Thank you for your feedback which we had spoken with you about prior to your written review. The property is indeed a lovely base for a holiday. We are sorry that you were unfortunate to have the hob break on the Sunday, and we attempted to address the problem as quickly as possible. We trust all was resolved and you were compensated fairly for your patience. Thank you for booking with us. John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "Lovely property with great outside space, sunny bedrooms, comfy sitting room and well appointed kitchen."

We had a wonderful two weeks there, (helped by some welcome June sunshine!). We would love to return. Our concerns are that the communication between the local office and Sykes is poor to non-existent. We had occasion to request assistance on a couple of occasions and despite calling/Whatsapping and emailing Sykes some of the issues were not resolved. This is absolutely not the fault of the property owner. It is frustrating to have no local contact number. (The only number we were given is directed to the Sykes call centre). You are unable to speak to anyone with first hand knowledge of the property or the local area and the call centre staff, whilst polite and cheery are unable to give answers or resolve simple queries. We hope this situation improves. We had no confidence whatsoever that had we encountered an emergency or serious problem that we would have been able to get hold of anyone able to sort things out.

  • "It’s not good when you arrive, and then have to go straight out and buy cleaning products, so that drawers, kitchen and bathroom cupboards can be cleaned before use."

There was human hair everywhere!! Good location and large comfortable house - let down by lack of cleanliness.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by these issues. Your comments have been passed on to the team here at John Bray Cornish Holidays and to the owner. Plenty of space in the living room and great, sociable dining/kitchen space. An amazing week had by all. The garden would be absolutely stunning in the good weather - we managed to sit out on a couple of occasions but would be amazing when the sun finally arrives! Would definitely recommend. Thank you!

  • "Excellent value for money - especially considering number of bedrooms, good sized rooms, safe garden etc."

Garden chair / lounger essential to enjoy the garden but sadly not provided. Could be slightly cleaner but it is a large house with dog accessibility and it was certainly good enough.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, we are pleased you enjoyed the property so much. We do hope that we get the opportunity to welcome you back to Cornwall in the future. John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "On arrival the property was fairly unclean."

Some kitchen cupboards were dirty with one with spice spilled inside. The were very old cobwebs in most of the bedrooms between the beds and bedside units. There were old dead spiders in the downstairs shower. There were old squashed spiders on the window blinds. Some of the carpets were dirty. The Nespresso coffee machine smelt foul and hadn’t been cleaned. I could say much more. Such a shame because the property is amazing with a fantastic garden. It’s a shame we spent a few hours on our arrival cleaning.

Thank you for your comments. We will investigate these with housekeeping team here at John Brays. We hope you enjoyed your stay regardless of these and would love to welcome you back in the future! - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner
