With 7 grandchildren aged between 1 and 10, having chickens, ducks peacocks and rabbits so close to the house was a fantastic bonus! The house itself was incredibly warm and the layout of the open living space was just great . Jane and David made sure we were all settled and then were close by if we needed to ask anything. There’s a great kids playground nearby in Kington Langley - a short walk across country for some of us but only a 4 minute drive for those that prefer. The kitchen was very amply equipped for a large group - with plenty of cups and glasses . All in all, a great place to spend a weekend.

  • "The Barn was lovely, the owners very helpful before we arrived and when we reach our holiday home."

The only issue we had which was a personnel issue to to one guest on holiday being very disabled that it wasn’t fully equipped for their needs! There was no hand rails in the bathroom, getting the wheel chair into the bathroom and transferring to the toilet was extremely difficult as was the accesses into the bedrooms. Some on this was due to us only being able to transfer the guest from the right side of her body! There was also no shower chair so was unable to shower during our stay! The bathroom itself was slightly run down and smelly all the time prob due to the drainage! Luckily another guest arrived a day later and was able to bring a commode with them which made everything so much easier, especially during the night! Overall though the stay was lovely and the Barn is beautiful just wanted to share our difficulties with regards to disabled access so others can be more prepared! The amount of equipment was amazing for other large families such as travel cots, high chair, bed guards and all essentials that a large group would need during their stay! We would certainly go back to the Barn but not with our disabled family member!

  • "The property itself is set in a very peaceful location."

The outside space with the larger table and chairs was perfect for us when we did an activity together. The flowers and animals were a great addition. Space inside the barn was also perfect for the amount of family members and the zoning of sofas worked really well for people to have their own space to relax. For such a large group, the facilities were not up to our standard. The fridge and dishwasher were tired and require updating. Bathrooms were a struggle and the shower pressure was very weak. An early check out time with two bathrooms made it a rush in the morning to leave promptly. Whilst there are plenty of beds in the barn, some were uncomfortable and some were small. The bedrooms were slightly tired in appearance, with one bedroom’s blinds not blocking out light which made it difficult to sleep well. Cleanliness I would have to agree with the previous feedback, where it could do with a very deep clean under beds, roof areas, floorings and rugs. There were a lot of big cobwebs and dust which appear to have been around for a long time, especially settled on the living room ceiling fan. I organised the trip and all of the guests commented on the standard of the cleanliness and the tiredness of the facilities. Overall great memories were made, however I think areas of improvement would include improving cleanliness (e.g cobwebs, dust and dirt) and upgrading the facilities provided (eg, white goods, beds, bathrooms). This would have made it more value for money.

There was plenty of space for all of us to be comfortable and not be falling over eachother. Arrived and was met by Jane who was very friendly and informative about the property and our stay. Beds were very comfy and rooms were lovely and warm. Plenty of space for us all. Recently installed a pellet heater instead of an aga and that along with the wood fire just kept us all nice and toasty. Plenty of kitchen stuff for cooking and eating. 1 oven to cook for 14 was a bit of a push but we made it work and the dishwasher was a huge help afterwards. Only advice for future stays is that the freezer was a half sized one compared to the tall fridge so pack light, did a lot of tetras with our food. Beautiful location 10 minutes drive from chippenham which was good to get out. Surrounded by farm animals which we all loved seeing every morning when we woke up. Cannot fault this place, thank you so much for such a great stay.

To be able to have his family all under one roof for a weekend was wonderful. I had spoken to Jane the day before as there had been a problem with the heating source but she did everything to ensure we did not suffer from the cold.. even leaving a gift for us. As large as the barn is it is not cold. The fire in the middle of the living space is perfect. The piano was something I didn't know was there and even though none of us can play we gave it a good go anyway! It was GREAT fun feeding the pigs and seeing all the other animals. Jane and David were welcoming and helpful hosts. We were 4 couples plus 4 children aged 5-13. The kitchen arrangements worked well for us and there were plenty of pans and crocks etc. Large fridge plus large freezer. We did misunderstand some descriptions on the web site summary: The ensuite shower room is small and would not be ideal for someone with limited mobility requiring assistance. Our wheel- chair user was best helped in the main bathroom. Web site also mentions second- floor kitchen. This was actually a kitchen extended off the main living area. The barn was very warm with the central log burner and the bedrooms warmed up quickly with radiators. Our small children loved the variety of areas to sprawl out and play den building. They also appreciated the tour of the farm animals. We would certainly recommend.

Look no further! The Barn is accessible, comfortable open plan accommodation with a well-equipped kitchen, loads of comfy sofas and brilliant bedroom layout. Right at the centre of the home is the show-stopping wood burning stove, which we rarely let go out during our stay at the end of February! Our party included 5 different households, a number of small children and a dog. We found the bedrooms worked well for multiple households, with two lots of twin beds and a travel cot provided. The kitchen had plenty of cooking utensils, dishes, pans, crockery etc. as well as some cupboard essentials and lots of fridge/freezer storage. We easily catered for our 13 guests! The dining table fitted all of us round it at a squeeze, with additional seating at the kitchen island and on the sumptuous XXL sofa in front of the stove! The wifi connection was great, TVs worked to hook up a Nintendo Switch and plenty of plug sockets for us to decorate the whole place with fairy lights (which looked AMAZING, highly recommend this as a permanent feature round the wood beams!). Lots of helpful bits like a hair dryer and tea towels too. Around the farm itself there's ample parking, cross country walks on your doorstep, a menagerie of animals and the fantastic hosts. Jane and David were on hand whenever we needed assistance, very friendly and amenable. One of our holiday highlights was a tour of the farm and helping to feed the animals - including the two cheeky alpacas! Albert the farm dog was also a big hit and we were happy to give him lots of love! Overall, we found The Barn worked brilliantly for a large, family group. If you're looking for a luxury getaway, this isn't for you. Definitely a lived in, well loved home. But perfect for not stressing about kids/dog! Clean, comfy, excellent hosts and a really fun, welcoming location. Would 100% book here again! Thanks for a fantastic family holiday!

It's a great open plan space so you never feel like your group is split across several rooms or too separated. The kitchen is really well equipped and the bedrooms are all very cosy and warm. There is plenty of parking and things within easy reach - we popped into Chippenham and Castle Combe while we were there which were both lovely, but mainly just chilled in the barn, as it's such a fantastic space. When I was looking for a place to accommodate our group of 10, I struggled to find somewhere that had a table and chairs for that many people even though it had the right number of beds, but the Barn had plenty of space for everyone which was a relief. There are only two bathrooms (and one of those is a small ensuite) which was absolutely fine for us, but might not be suitable for different groups. The owners were absolutely lovely too - so flexible and laid back and keen to check that we had everything we needed but also willing to give us our own space. They even gave us an impromptu tour of the farm on Sunday morning and introduced us to all the animals! Apparently their son usually takes guests all around the farm and does a proper tour if you give them a bit of notice, so great for small children!

The area offers many country houses, including Rodmarton Manor and Gardens, and Chavenage House, a fine example of a Cotswold manor unchanged for 400 years. Just a short drive away is The Cotswold Water Park, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, covering 40 square miles and offering a wide range of activities, including boating, waterskiing, fishing, cycling, golf and horse riding, plus Bath, Cirencester and Tetbury are all within easy reach and well worth a visit.
