  • "Avonside cottage is very quirky property - quite small but very comfortable and the location is super peaceful and quiet (apart from the odd seagull fight over the water!"

). It's definitely not suitable for anyone with mobility issues due to the fact that you can't park right next to the house and there are steps get into the property. The kitchen has everything you need and the owners very kindly put milk and some treats in the fridge for us, which was lovely. The house was very clean and comfortable and being by the water meant the air was fresh and cool even on hot days. There is a co op store very close by and a bus goes regularly into Bristol, meaning there is no need to tackle city parking! The drive to Weston Super Mare is short and Bath isn't too far either. Overall the location is good for anyone who wants to stay put and bask in quiet, or who is willing to travel to see the many sights around Bristol. We had a great holiday.

Thank you for taking the time to post this generous and informative feedback. You certainly seem to have had a good time and packed in so much. Look forward to perhaps seeing you again some time. Best wishes, Nick and Hilary Property Owner

  • "Great cottage in a lovely spot by the side of the River Avon."

Very comfortable and we loved the way it has been renovated in a modern style but which is sympathetic to what is an old cottage, with underfloor heating throughout. It's also well equipped and the hosts were very generous with the starting provisions they provided.

Thank you very much for posting feedback at this busy time. The renovation. of what was two cottages, was carried out in 2016 and we were very pleased with the result. Glad you like it too. • "Entering Avon Cottage was like going to see friends who had just slipped out."

It was warm, comfortable and clean. It has been cleverly developed to maintain the cottage feel and incorporate modern design features. Views were ever changing with the tide and weather. This is a good base for exploring the area and we found folks in the village to be helpful and welcoming. We appreciated the provisions available to make tea and toast and as we tend to make our food from scratch everything we needed including dishcloths, wash up liquid and tea towels were to hand. The owners seem to have covered all the bases and comprehensive instructions were given before we set off. We would certainly recommend Avon Cottage.

Thank you very much for taking the time to feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and that you had everything that you needed. We are indebted to our neighbours and people in Pill generally for the welcome they have extended to those who visit the cottage. Best wishes, Nick and Hilary Property Owner

Very confortable and everything is thought of. I would love to stay here again! Lovely quiet setting next to the water. The only thing to be aware of is the car is parked down the street but they do provide a trolley to help carry your luggage along the road. Due to steps, this property would not be suitable to anyone with mobility difficulties but we loved it and how local it was to so many places. Would really recommend this accomodation

Thank you for your feedback. Regarding your comments about an extended stay, other guests who have stayed for a similar or longer length of time have been positive in their feedback.Your storage needs were such that on arrival you requested us to put some of our furniture and fittings into storage to accommodate your belongings. Given the pressure you were under we acceded to your requests as did our colleague who cleans the cottage. However, such were the demands made of her that after two visits she refused to return. We can probably all agree that, for different reasons, this was a difficult five weeks for all concerned. Instructions were accurate and easy to follow. We loved the quirkiness of the surroundings and the cottage. It was so very quiet and had everything we needed with a great welcome pack and all the basics for cooking, relaxation and so very dog friendly - home from home. And yet close to everything we wanted to do. Thank you. Just a couple of pointers which would have completed the perfection - 1. A few of coat hooks perhaps by the door 2. Consider a new mattress for the double bed. We would return anytime and have already recommended to friends.

Lots of interesting local information available in the cottage. We stayed at New Years so the garden was not used but in the summer, with some sun, it could be lovely, as it has a great view across the water. The village of Pill if very accessible from the M5 motorway and just 5 mins away. The garden faces up river and is surrounded by other cottages. The village is on the Avon Trail, c. 7 miles from Clifton via the river and c. 2 miles to the George pub which does good food. A really perfect stay for a quiet retreat. Thanks

It is in a stunning location right alongside The Avon with a pretty enclosed garden, safe for the dog. We were met by a generous "welcome pack" with everything to start off our visit, and there are local pubs and shops, including an excellent Co-Op within short walking distance. Pill itself is a charming village with an interesting history.Several of the pubs in Pill do food, but we had an excellent Christmas lunch in relaxed surroundings at the Rudgleigh Inn, a short drive away in Easton in Gordano. We booked a Christmas Eve visit to the National Trust's "Christmas at Tyntesfield" which was very special, and enjoyed a long walk at Kings Weston House where the dog friendly cafe provided a very welcome retreat from the rain. Just above the cottage there is a large open area, accessed just below the viaduct, for great walks hence a very happy dog. There are many towns and places to visit in north Somerset, visits to family and friends in the area took up much of our time, we will have to make a return visit. Access to the house is via steps but good hand rails are provided, and parking is a short distance away. The cottage provided very comfortable accommodation and everything we needed for a very relaxing stay. Thank you, we will return.
