"Lovely well appointed cottage ,perfect for our group of 6 old friends ."

The open plan layout was perfect for socialising ,and kitchen well equipped The welcome pack of eggs ,cookies and milk was well received. There was no one next door to us for most of our stay ,but I think we were slightly surprised how close the other attached property was . This set up would be perfect for a large group using both accommodations . Situation excellent for visiting the area ,and we loved the lime tree and it's fabulous perfume

"As a family group we had very varied needs with the accommodation."

Baby, toddler, wheelchair user(adult) and a bunch of adults. The accommodation met our needs admirably although the downstairs bathroom proved a challenge to the wheelchair user. I know now the property next door would have suited better. The welcome was delightful, friendly, and sincere. Even the chickens welcomed us and provided some fresh eggs which Megan gave us.

"Was a really lovely property that had everything we needed for an extremely comfortable stay."

Have to say the beds and linens were up there with the best we have slept in ever! Meg was fabulous and so helpful. She went over and above helping us out. The stable is in a great location and close to so much. The surroundings so peaceful. Thanks Meg and Nic for such a lovely stay. Was just what myself and my family needed.

"We had a wonderful stay at Hetty’s Stables, and Meg could not have been a better host."

The setting is without question one of the most beautiful we’ve ever stayed — so quiet and peaceful with many excursions just a short drive away, and the property itself was clean and comfortable for our family of 5. "We loved the property - homely and practical, and in a beautiful spot."

Our only negative was that if someone was having a shower, we couldn't use hot water elsewhere. And we had a terrible experience at the Black Horse pub - which really made us feel unwelcome to this part of the Cotswolds. We felt Sykes could have been more helpful when we asked about additional parking. They referred us to Parkopedia which directed us to the local shopping centres. We made plans to leave cars in these places as it was the easiest point for rendezvousing but when we got to the property, there was plenty of space to park four cars in our space, and there was further parking. I feel Sykes could have made contact with the owner which would have made everything a whole lot easier.

"I thought the cottage was great and well equipped and very clean which is very important."

Also, the hosts were very accommodating and helpful. However, Guests in the next door cottage woke everyone up very early, on their departure. So, you do need to be mindful that you have no control of the noise of your neighbours who are right next door. The oven was challenging and wifi and phone connections were poor so that does need to be considered. Also, the views are stunning at Hettys Stables and we would definitely return and the garden was lovely. Would fully recommend having a hot tub at the property though.

"Fabulous cottage."

Really special and very spacious. Megan thought of everything. Bit hard to find. Could do with cottage name nearer to the road as easy to miss. Will definitely recommend and we will revisit. Very well situated for visiting all of the Cotswolds.

"Lovely hosts, lovely location."

Had the weather been better we'd have been able to enjoy the outdoor space and walks more. But, we still had plenty of space to relax andmake the most of our break with family.

"The cottage is lovely & clean, big garden all round & just as the photos show."

It’s very well equipped, beyond our expectations. The owner is very helpful, we had no problems though & were left to come & go as we pleased. Good for children too with books & games provided. We would love to return some day.

"A fabulous property in an idyllic rural location but very central to all Cotswold locations."

Very clean and well equipped cottage and the owners were very helpful. Our 18 month old grandson loved the free roaming chickens who greeted him each morning and evening. Perhaps a non- slip bath mat would be helpful though.

"Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location."

Great walks on your doorstep for both novices and experts. The Black Horse in Naunton a welcome watering hole within easy walking. A short drive in the other direction to The Plough Inn in Cold Aston - chocolate box location! Megan the landlady at Hetty’s Stables could not have been more welcoming or helpful.

"The property was amazing."

Lots of space, everything had been thought about and catered for. The children found a great jigsaw puzzle that kept them occupied throughout the week. Lovely views and Megan was super helpful. Will definitely be back

Great comfortable place with serene surroundings providing central location to attractive villages, walking routes and good places to eat. Super hosts, with Meghan even posting items inadvertently left at the property. Would very much like to return in the future.

The property

Naunton 1.4 miles Peacefully located in the hamlet of Aylworth, close to Naunton, rests Hetty’s Stables which is a stunning barn conversion in the grounds of Aylworth Cottage.

Hetty’s Stables has the option of being rented in conjunction with its neighbouring property, Flynn’s Barn, which is perfect for a larger group, or on its own as group of seven.

(Flynn's Barn - 1091363) A driveway welcomes you on arrival where you can park your cars and unload your luggage in through the front door which opens directly into the open-plan living area with underfloor heating throughout home to a stylish and light dual aspect sitting area with attractive exposed brick wall and warming woodburning stove, and the kitchen/diner which is well-equipped for home cooking and socialising with your group.

Carry the conversation through the French doors out onto the private patio area to soak in the last of the sun and relish the peaceful surroundings sat at the outdoor seating which overlooks a sizeable raised lawn area, accessed up stone steps offering wonderful countryside views, which guests are welcome to explore comprising of vast green fields and paddocks which make up the owners eight acres of grounds.

When the sun goes down, head back inside where you have a choice of three welcoming bedrooms, the first located on the ground floor is tastefully decorated and benefits from underfloor heating, containing a king-size bed with an en-suite walk-in shower, head up the concealed staircase from the sitting room where the elegant master bedroom in the eaves is located, boasting far reaching countryside views from the gable apex window and king-size bed, with a light and airy en-suite walk-in rain shower, and the second bedroom is a lovely dual aspect family room, containing three single beds, also with its own en-suite bathroom Once you’ve had some well-earned rest, head out for a scenic walk around Ayleworth or a more advanced walk along Cotswold Way which extends from the quintessentially English market town of Chipping Campden to the Roman city of Bath, at 102 miles long following the western edge of the Cotswold Hills, the route journeys through rolling pastures, beech woodland and honey-coloured villages built from Cotswold stone.

Head for a delicious meal in nearby Naunton at The Black Horse Inn which has a pleasant ambience and offers home-made, locally sourced food and lovely drinks.

Naunton has a beautiful river running through it, the River Windrush, which flows from Winchcombe and meets the Thames at Newbridge, passing through Bourton-on-the-Water, often referred to as the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’ due to the low arched bridges that cross over the river, which has a variety of popular shops and attractions such as Cotswold Motoring Museum & Toy Collection and The Model Village – Bourton-on-the-Water in model form, and Greystones Farm & Nature Reserve, offering time out from the hustle and bustle of the village centre.

Make your way a little further North to the historic market town of Stow-on-the-Wold, where you can enjoy a farmers’ market which occurs every second Thursday of each month, featuring inviting local produce or you can brush up on your history at St Edward’s Parish Church, a stunning Grade l listed church with parts dating back to the 11th century.

About the location

NAUNTON

Bourton-on-the-Water 4 miles; Stow-on-the-Wold 5 miles.

Naunton is positioned on either sides of the River Windrush, making it very picturesque as any of its neighbours in the hills between Stow and Cheltenham. Mentioned in the Doomsday Book as Niwetone. The hill overlooking the town is great for climbing up and viewing the church and the village. The Black Horse Inn is the local pub which provides great views into the heart of the Cotswolds.

Note: The lawn area is shared with the neighbouring property.

Note: Horses can be stabled in the paddocks by prior arrangement with the owners.

Note: Check-in is after 4pm and check-out is by 10am.

Note: The property’s garden is not enclosed and as the shared lawn area is raised above the patio, young children should be supervised outside at all times due to the drop between the two levels.

Note: The first-floor of the property is located in the eaves and therefore the rooms on this level have sloping ceilings which could pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility.
