It took us a while to figure out the heating and even after that it took about 8-10 hours for the cottage to heat up to a comfortable temperature. So, our first night was quite uncomfortable. Considering the extreme weather conditions, this is something we would've expected to be looked after upon check-in. Other than this issue, our stay was great. Additionally, we were driving a Jeep Compass and even though the approach road to the parking was a little narrow, we managed comfortably. Overall, we would definitely recommend Wadham!

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear about the heating. We have passed your comments onto the owner to investigate. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and hope that you found the central location in Bourton, convenient. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "Just to say a huge thank you."

I took my dad and eldest son, so 3 Generations of the Evans family, and it was perfect. My dad lived in Great Risslington during and after the war and was talking about the snow of 1947, and we managed to find his house, he also when courting my mother, who left us 4 yrs ago now, they lived coming to stay in BOW, in the Old New Inn, so his face lit up when we went there, and all of this so close to the cottage, and my oldest boy has had problems the last couple of years so to see him smiling and laughing and enjoying himself was priceless, the beds are so so comfy, and the living room perfect and snug, and the kitchen was amazing it had everything and we spent hours sat around the table talking it was lush, we managed with the bathroom, but if you could get a walk in shower, I could then never see anyone having a problem, as that is what we needed to make it absolutely’ perfect. Let’s just say in short I will be back with my partner hopefully this year, and ideally we want to make Mon-Fri the week of mayday a yearly thing with my Dad and sim, so when 2024 prices are out let me know as I will book straight away

Thank you for taking the time to provide this lovely feedback. We're delighted you and your family had such an enjoyable stay at Wadham Cottage which brought back some happy memories. We would love to welcome you again. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

Small, but almost everything you need. We had an issue with one of the radiators not working. But after a call to the owner it was fixed the next day. The ceiling in the bathroom was so low my husband couldn't stand up straight. So he had to have baths. Perfect location, just a short stroll to the village. Great for coming back from the pub. Would stay again

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay and are sorry to hear about the radiator but glad the owner fixed this issue quickly for you. Private parking which is a bonus. Short walk to the village with ample shops, pubs and restaurants. Large garden although gaps in hedge so dog can get through to neighbours garden then leading onto busy main road. There is street noise and the church bells situated to the side of the cottage rings every hour but not an issue . Overhaul another wonderful holiday in Wadham Cottage

We're so pleased that you enjoyed your return holiday to Wadham Cottage, and its close proximity to the centre of the village. Perfect location for Bourton-On-The-Water. Ideal for a lovely stroll into the village for shops, cafes and pubs etc. The cottage had everything we needed. And was very comfortable. It kept the heating in well. At times felt too hot. The church bells were lovely and didn’t distract or bother us. We were not disturbed by the traffic or people passing the cottage. It is a tight drive but manageable. The Church chimes are lovely and did not wake us, quite useful in the night to tell the time. The outside space is very open ( no individual space ) and our Dog did escape and wander down the drive to the road, bit scarey but no harm done, we attached him to the coat hooks after so he could wander in and out. We arrived at 3.30 pm being prepared to wait but Cottage was ready. Mousetrap Pub was less commercial and did Curry Night Tuesday - very good. Smith's Burgers and Chip Shed highly recommended. Neighbours friendly . Lots to do and lovely places to visit, we loved Batsford Arbaretum . Lots of Dog Friendly places and lots of water bowls about and of course there is always the River to paddle in.

Stayed at Wadham cottage for a week last year, the cottage is perfectly placed on Bourton-on-the-Water front street, the drive is quite narrow and a large car may have to fold the wing mirrors in,you have a decent sized allocated car space beside a grassed area but is not dog secure, the cottage is OK,the kitchen is small but nice and clean with just about everything you need, the sitting room was small dark and dated and very noisy from passing traffic and people until late on and the church bells constantly ringing think it was every 15 minutes and Sunday from approx 6am ringing out songs ,both bedrooms where nice and clean with comfy beds but little storage space, the bathroom was ok but maybe needs replacing,Bourton-on-the-Water is beautiful with a lovely river which our doggy loved,Bourton had a couple of takeaways, a Co-op some small shops and 4 or 5 decent pubs with tourist prices, there are many lovely places to visit near Bourton, will visit Bourton again but not Wadham cottage

Thank you for your feedback on Wadham Cottage. The kitchen was refurbished three months prior to your stay. The Church Bells do chime 2 or 3 versus of a hymn every 3 hours from 6am until 9pm, most people find this really charming. The cottage was very comfortable and the beds were especially so. My only negative point is not the fault of the cottage - but due to the proximity of the clock tower, which was very nearby and which chimed every 15 minutes 24/7, I found it impossible to sleep on the first night. It is a lovely sound, but for me it was the repetitive and persistent nature of it which was troublesome during the night. After I got hold of some earplugs, that solved the problem for the rest of the week! I would quite like to have known this in advance so that I could have got some earplugs before I arrived. That said, noone else in the family seemed to mind!

About the location

BOURTON-ON-THE-WATER

Stow-on-the-Wold 4 miles; Moreton-in-Marsh 8 miles; Chipping Norton 13 miles; Cheltenham 15.5 miles.

Located in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the historic village of Bourton-on-the-Water dates back to Neolithic times with over 100 buildings being Grade II listed or higher. The picturesque high street nestles alongside the River Windrush over which several low stone bridges span, which is why Bourton-on-the-Water is known as the Venice in the Cotswolds. Tradition states that an annual football match is played in the summer, in the River Windrush with the banks lined with spectators, with the aim to score as many goals as possible and get as wet as possible! The village has an eclectic range of visitor attractions, including The Model Village, Cotswold Motor Museum, Birdland Park and Gardens as well as a Dragonfly Maze, monthly farmers’ market as well as many tea rooms, an artisan bakery, antiques and craft markets, traditional sweet shop, cycle hire and its very own perfumery. Nearby, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises traditional England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antiques shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Also take a visit to the medieval town of Burford for a great day out where you can enjoy a trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are both within easy reach and make a great day out. The spa town of Cheltenham is, architecturally, the most complete Regency town in England with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called The City of Dreaming Spires has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also all within easy reach.
