"Our second time at Latimer lodge, we love it here."
So lovely to be so close to the Forest of dean.
-
"Beautiful location, very quiet, right in the forest."
Walks and biking from the door. The property has a very small living space so personally I wouldn't recommend for a family of three, unless the third is a baby, as you have no dining space if you use the sofa bed, no-where to hang coats or put boots and shoes. Would be great for just a couple though. Unfortunately we had some maintenance issues during our stay which meant the hottub was not available for the first two days of our four day stay, and we also had to report a couple of other things to be sorted. The owner was responsive and got these things sorted but obviously we'd have preferred not to have been involved in these admin jobs during our stay. Liked the outdoor table, the bike shed was great. Good out of camping season when just 3 other self catering properties on the site, would go back out of season again, but would choose a larger property next time.

"My husband and I with our two dogs spent a wonderful week at Latimer Lodge."
The property was exceptionally clean with all the facilities we needed. We also had access to a washing machine and dryer. The location is great, for walkers or hikers, or to drive to nearby places such as Monmouth. I am looking forward to booking another stay before the end of the year.

"Just got back from a lovely week in Latimer Lodge with our two Jack Russells."
Location is just perfect with gate directly into the forrest. The facilities are comprehensive even comes with free washing and tumble drying. Fully recommended especially if you have dogs.

"Shower not working properly."
Two plumbers came out while we were there in inconvenient still not working.Owner made out this had only just happened but found out it had been going on for several weeks. Her comment was doing her best to get it fixed but these things happen. She obviously apologised.I really do not think the lodge should of been let until the problem was fixed.Do we get any refund.Regards Pauline Gibbs

"Very happy with cottage very enjoyable holiday."
Loved the hot tub thank you for our stay.
-
"The location and property were just perfect."
It was our honeymoon and We shall be returning for sure. The only thing that was a issue is that the hot tub was drained at 8.30 in the morning of our departure. We had been booked to our stay till 10.00 am and would have liked to use the hot tub before leaving. I can appreciate that they have to be drained and cleaned but in our option, this should be done after our departure time. Looking forward to return soon, Regards Graham and Charlotte.

"Excellent stay we had a fantastic time."
We’ll hopefully be booking to stay again this year. Cottage clean and comfortable with walks for the dog right outside. Erika always jolly and approachable. Thanks

"What a fantastic holiday my two boys and I had."
a private hot tub, walks directly into the Forest and really friendly staff who couldn't be more helpful. We have had hot tub breaks at other places however this beats the lot. loved it and we'll definitely be back again. Highly recommend this break for small families and for those seeking a romantic break. what more can I say.

"Lovely property in a great location."

"We had a wonderful, peaceful stay."
The property is lovely and decorated beautifully; so snug and cosy, especially after a walk in the forest which really is right on your doorstep. The hot tub was a great addition to our evenings! As mentioned in previous reviews, the WiFi was definitely a bit hit and miss, and we did lose the TV signal for an entire day, but of course this is to be expected due to the location of the property! So if you are visiting with children then it might be a good idea to bring some DVDs and board games; things to keep everyone entertained if the signal does disappear on you. There are a few cobwebs here and there (only a slight gripe, though) and you might want to bring your own scrubbing brush or sponge scourer and things like kitchen foil as these things weren’t provided. The shower temperature was also quite difficult to regulate; maybe some instructions could be given in the welcome pack? However, the little dishwasher was excellent and saved us from washing up all the time, and the underfloor heating was amazing, especially when you’re coming in from the hot tub and it’s cold outside! We will definitely be back again!

"I have always wanted a place where I am in the middle of the forest, so I could just walk out the door and go for a nice long walk."
This place is just that! Being able to sit in the hot tub after a days walk was also awesome.
-
"Good communication with regards to checking in."
Ideal location which is pretty much in the heart of the forest. Feels like a proper lodge, a perfect peaceful retreat. Well presented lodge with a hot tub which in ours was fairly private(Latimer) Apart from the shower temperature being hard to regulate and the place needing the cobwebs removed can't really fault it. Don't forget the essentials- tea, coffee, foil cooking oil etc

"The propert was fantastic very warm and comfortable."
The hole holiday from start to finish was one of the best .

"The directions to Latimer Lodge could be made a little clearer - a map would have helped."

"The cottage is lovely and in a great location."
The hot tub is a great addition and was the reason we booked. We took our dog and facilities we good for him. Easy to take into the forest for walks. Only downside is that the owner is not welcoming, I called to get key code on the day before as instructed and she just read a huge list of things we mustn’t do, this was really off putting. There were no instructions in the cottage and we had to hunt her down to get WiFi password. This could all be in a pack in the cottage but didn’t impact our stay.

"Very peaceful and relaxing Friendly staff"
-
"Perfect break!"
Completely under sold online as is so much nicer in person need photos of the private hot tub as this is lovely!
-
"The cottage is located well and access to the forest and surrounding areas is great."
Dogs are allowed but need to remain on lead on the property and have to be taken to the forest for their ablutions. We had a nice piece of glass backing onto the cottage but was told the dog cannot enjoy that area with us. Seems odd considering it was our responsibility to clean up after him. The sauna was also not in operations which was a slight disappointment. Other than that the hot tubs were great and the facilities great.

"Beautiful cottage, in fab location."
Some things lacking.. Very little in kitchen.. No jug, not enough crockery or utensils so had to wash up continuously.. No chopping boards. No broom to sweep floors especially as we had dogs with us. Hot tub was fab but not use able in rain as no canopy. Wardrobe full of storage boxes so no real hanging space. Little things that would make our stay a little easier. Not negative just hopefully useful feedback. We will definitely stay again.

"Beautiful lodge in an idyllic setting, we went with our 2 year old and our black Labrador and both loved it."
Will definitely return.
-
"Fabulous lodge in a magical setting."
You can walk straight into the forest and if you enjoy running you have plenty of choices as there are many forest tracks within immediate reach. Very comfortable accommodation and an extra bonus to have our own hot-tub. Bed and sofas were good quality and added to the relaxation. Great to have a small dishwasher too. Under-floor heating made it warm and cosy. Pleasant bathroom and shower. Our dog had a great time too!
-
"It was a lovely cottage with good amenities in a great location."
We enjoyed the Hot Tub which was excellent. A nice area to cycle and to walk, both of which we did. We will be back!
-
"It was a wonderful break"
-
"Beautiful dog friendly barn conversation in the middle of the Forest of Dean."
The scenery is idyllic and everyone was really friendly and welcoming, the only thing that let us down was the weather but it was only to be expected in October. Thinking of booking again for the summer so we could enjoy exploring the local area.
-
"Couldn’t fault the accommodation ignore other reviews it’s lovely peaceful not overlooked by the owners nobody bothers you it’s warm cosy and the hot tub and Sauna are an added bonus!"
There are a few tiny rules but they are just common sense I thought!! And you are in the forest for lovely doggy walks!!

"We booked 4 holiday cottages this year 3 where brilliant, we had a food hamper at the 3rd one ."
Tea, coffee and milk at the other 2. Well what can we say about Larimer lodge. It took 5 hours to get there the traffic was against us, not your fault. The sign post you could not see until you gone past it, so we had to go and turn around. Not 1 tea bag, no milk, or coffee , or sugar,to make a hot drink. Not impressed. Apart from that we had a great week. Thank you Kath & Nigel Gayton
-
"Good quiet location, excellent for mountain biking and walking."
Accommodation clean, comfortable and warm. Only negatives is that it lacks a little natural light and the wifi was a bit hit and miss (that could be a plus point for those that want to get away from it all). Overall I would recommend this accommodation.

"A little welcome pack on arrival would have been a nice touch as no shop within walking distance."
In addition laundry facilities would have been nice. Also a little restrictive with dogs not allowed in the grounds although appreciate the lodges are right in the forest!
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. Please note that there is a laundry room on site for the use of our guests, which includes a washing machine, tumbledryer and ironing facilities. We do also provide a welcome pack in all lodges. We would like to thank you for your cooperation in adhering to our house rules regarding dogs not using the lawn area. As you have noted all guests are welcome to exercise their pets in the nearby forest. Property Owner

We had an issue with the fridge we was given access to the main holiday house to use the fridge for a few days and was given a complementary hot tub session overall would definitely book the same cottage

"Cottage was perfect in a beautiful setting what let it down was the area for going out in the evening for a nice pub/restaurant meal."
It reads there are pubs in walking distance but we only found one that wasn’t very nice, would of liked to of had more nicer country pubs closer. It advertised you can walk to Coleford in 12mins but that’s impossible, even the staff that live there say you can’t walk to Coleford in 12mins!!!! Symonds Yat Rock is beautiful with a stunning pub with great food in a stunning setting!!! Area for walks is great.
