"This was our second stay this year at Dovetail and we are already booked for next summer."
It is clean, cosy and comfortable. Ann, the owner is lovely. She left us tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits and a bottle of wine. Dovetail is a great base to explore the Forest of Dean. Yes there is a busy road close by so there is road noise but Ann makes this clear on her listing. But the views of open countryside are stunning and there are peaceful walks by accessing goose lane ( directly opposite the property). We are looking forward to returning.

"The owner was quick to sort out the broken boiler for the heating."
Could we suggest making the property entrance more visible especially in the dark such as having solar lights on the posts or reflective. It was a little dangerous pulling out of the driveway as the view of the bend of the road on which the property sits was obscured by parked vehicles, which I am sure is not something the owner can do anything about.

The property was clean and provided us with all our needs over the week, the beds were comfortable, our only drawback was the accommodation is on a very busy main road,so at times getting out onto the road could be dangerous,

"We would like to be able to get in touch with an agent, as we do very little on line due fraud and scams."
It's a serve that the individual feels special, valued and we can put our needs across more easily. We've had a lot of lovely stays booked through you and would like to do so in the future. Kind regards
-
"We loved it."
We have booked again for next year already. The fast A48 is noisy from the single bedroom but not a problem in the other rooms. It was very clean, comfortable, great value and had everything we needed.
-
"The cottage was convenient for us to visit friends and family, but we will not be using this cottage again."
Having booked the cottage we then found it on Google maps and realised how very close it was to the A48. On the property description it does say there "will be traffic noise". The traffic is non stop from 5 am and is very fast (despite a 50 mph speed limit), making getting out from the property a test in patience, especially if you are turning right, across the road. Secondly the description welcomes "two well-behaved dogs." We had booked to take our small dog. Because of what we saw on Google maps we decided the cottage wouldn't have been suitable for him and so arranged for someone to care for him while we were away. We are so thankful that we didn't take him with us as he is very small, I'm not sure I would have been very happy taking one of our large dogs in the past, the road is very fast and very close to the cottage.

"We had a lovely few days staying at Dovetail to celebrate my dogs upcoming 3rd birthday."
Most things were ok, but we found the directions given are incorrect. We had to go up and down the A48 several times and one of us had to get out of the car and walk to find the property. It took 10 minutes to eventually find the property.

"We had a nice stay here recently."
The property was spacious enough for us (two adults, one child and two dogs). It was well equipped by the owner and had some thoughtful additions. Like the listing mentions, the property is on a main 50mph road which meant the traffic was noisy well into the night. It didn’t matter to us but some might find it too much. Despite being a dog friendly property, I would not say that the outside area is secure. Smaller dogs could easily get under the main gate onto the busy road. Fortunately I’d taken a long-like lead for one of ours. A couple of things would have improved our stay - *the lawn had not been cut for a while. It was quite long so not suitable for our child to play on. Some dog faeces was also found in the grass so we picked it up when we arrived * the ventilator fan in the bathroom began banging loudly after being on a few mins. *the double fire doors were hard to open without reasonable force We had plenty to do in the area and would recommend the following: *the cafe at Birdwood Garden Centre * The Forest Of Dean walks * the view from Symonds Yat * Gloucester Cathedral (although the town centre was run down, the cathedral was beautiful) * Monmouth * Gloucester Quays for lunch Thank you for sharing your property with us

"Dovetail is a lovely cottage,it was well equipped with everything we needed for our holiday."
.The garden was safe for our dog to run around. The road is busy but this is not too noticeable inside .It does have a pavement so you can walk the dog locally . It is a lovely area and the cottage is well placed to explore the area.
-
"A very comfortable, clean and well equipped cottage."
We only stayed a week but for us the location of Dovetail was perfect as it was only about a mile from the River Severn - ideal to see the Severn Bore. Had we stayed longer, the absence of a washing machine may have been an issue, but there really isn't room for one in the compact kitchen. There was some traffic noise, but honestly, after the first night we really didn't notice - and we live in an extremely quiet area. We had a very enjoyable stay and would stay again if we were back in the area.
-
"The property was better than our expectations we wish we had spent a whole week there."
There was ample equipment for cooking and cleaning, The Kings head at birdwood has great value meals And most of all, it’s perfect, if you take your dogs as it’s completely enclosed for medium and large dogs
-
"Lovely accommodation with everything we needed, very cosy, also a great location."
Great hosts would stay again.
-
"Had a smashing holiday!"
If you don`t like traffic noise, this is definately NOT the place for you. Traffic is constant. This didn`t bother us though. We had a lovely chilled and relaxed Christmas here. The place was decorated for Christmas, so we didn`t have to bother! The tub of Roses chocolates and bottle of wine were really appreciated. There are plenty of accessable walks too, which our Collie cross Labrador really appreciated. The converted barn was lovely and warm especially with the log burner too!. All facilities were great and although the weather wasn`t very kind it didn`t matter. We has a lovely time and even made it to the Severn Bore pub which was superb and were were made really welcome by the local residents! On the odd good day we did have , walks along the Severn valley way were really appreciated. Lovely and peaceful. The local butchers and farm shop were within easy reach with a car so all in all we had a fabulous time. Thank you Anne and Terry.
-
"We had a lovely weekend in dovetails."
The venue was really cosy and nice. The dogs loved the garden and it was close by to loads of things to do. Would definitely come again.
-
"Lovely place to stay, great log burner, all very comfy for our holiday."
And a enclosed garden that is actually safe to let your dog out in and not have to worry about them getting out, unlike most they say enclosed but not! Owner and daughter very helpful. Thank you
-
"Dovetail is in the middle of some beautiful countryside and walks."
With Gloucester, Forest of dean, Malvern and Worcester all close no shortage of things to do. Dovetail is well finished, clean and has all the basics. The kitchen is very well equipped so apart from food everything else is provided. We had a great and relaxing weekend. We will defiantly go again.
-
"Ideal for us with dogs."
Large grassy outside area. Downside was noisy road. OK in double bedroom but not so good in single. Ideal for exploring Forest of Dean anzd Gloucester, Tewkesbury etc just down the road for cultural and retail therapy ! TV reception was poor quite often no signal at all. Some leaflets on the.local attractions would have helped and an easily read map. All in all though good value and welcoming bottle of wine and biscuits was a nice touch. Would book again.
-
"It was all wonderfull Very near to the Severn Bore pub to view the Bore itself!"
A wonderful experience . It was clean and well appointed with essential supplies We would most certainly recommend it
-
"The barn is a lovely place but the TV was intermittent ."
This didn't bother us but might be a problem to others. Also the shower was often cold even though no one else was running water. It os extremely close to the road and though the noise wasn't horrific we did know it was there. There is a secure gate so our dogs couldn't escape and we were aware it might be noisy. The barn had everything we needed and we enjoyed our stay. My only suggestion would be to look at the shower and maybe screen the gates and fences so it felt more private........
-
"We have loved our stay at Dovetail."
It is really peaceful and relaxing. The cottage is provided with everything you could need and quite spacious. It was lovely to wake up to the cows every morning and watch the sunrise. Nice touches of tea, coffee, sugar, wine and a few other bits readily available, thank you! We all had showers every evening after exploring and it did the trick, but it’s not very powerful. Things are a bit mismatched and dated, this did not matter to us, but it would to some. The gate, with the sleepers, is fantastic to keep the dog safe, she loved having space to explore and we could relax knowing she was safe. The road is a 50mph road and extremely busy through the day, however it did not once disturb our sleep or become noticeable when relaxing, it’s constant background noise. The views and immediate surroundings are beautiful. Unfortunately my car broke down while there, but we were saved by the bus stop 1min walk away on either side of the road, this was an excellent service on time both ways, £2 each for any distance journey. Gloucester town is a lovely place to explore with a magnificent cathedral, lots of history and shops. A family of 3 generations and a dog have had a very nice break, we were sad to leave. Thank you
-
"Enjoyable stay, very comfortable and a nice outsidespace."
road noise heard but no problem.would return.
-
"Amazing property and position dog frindly and owners so kind"
-
"Everything in the bungalow was fine ."
Only issue we had again was the wi-fi. Beds comfy
-
"Single bed was very uncomfortable to sleep in."
No washing machine or dishwasher. But wine on arrival was a lovely touch
-
"Comfortable, well equipped property in a nice location."
On a busy road, but with private outside space and countryside location.
-
"This is a great place to stay."
Clean and well equipped, we had everything we needed. There was wifi at the property. It is so much bigger than it appears on the outside. Lots to do and great riverside pubs nearby. Lovely views from the property - perfect to sit out in the evenings. We booked a short midweek trip however could have stayed much longer - next time we will!
-
"Had a lovely stay brilliant secure garden for the dog perfect location for ..."
Had a lovely stay brilliant secure garden for the dog perfect location for things we wanted to do lovely cafe at a garden centre just up the road at birdwood amazing breakfast A lovely welcome gift would recommend the only downside was the amount of traffic
-
"The Dovetail cottage looks small on the outside but it's not inside ."
It was lovely & clean . The WiFi didn't work but that's all . All I would say is needed would be a table & 3 chairs for outside. . We are planning to go back to Dovetail... Not a lot in walking distance. The farm shop is a must lovely products. We even called on way home
-
"A lovely cottage to stay in."
Yes, the road noise exists but so long as you take that in your stride all is fine.
-
"A comfortable, clean, well provisioned and uncomplicated property that enabled us to enjoy a carefree stay."
The thought given to the needs of our pets was also much appreciated.
-
"Excellent little spot and good value for money"
-
"Was a lovely place to spend 5 days."
Road was busy but not a problem. The garden was great for the dogs. The property was very clean with everything we needed for our stay. Very enjoyable stay thankyou
-
"Lovely property, perfect for us."
Thank you
-
"Absolutely gorgeous stay and lovely location."
If this place had an outside firepit, it's the only thing that would make it more perfect. We couldn't flaw our stay at all. My parents live in the area so we will Absolutely be looking to book again
-
"Property was almost perfect, what would make it absolutely perfect is to have wi-fi so holiday makers could check out places to visit & order food deliveries."
Had hoped 4g signal wouldn’t be strong enough for all that but it was pretty weak unfortunately
-
"Great base for exploring."
Comfortable accommodation offering privacy, panoramic views and curious neighbours (3 friendly cows!). The busy road was a bit of a drawback, as was the lack of Wi-Fi but overall, a lovely stay.
-
"We had a lovely stay here!"
Stayed for 5 nights with plenty to do near by. Spent a day in the Forest of Dean, drove to Cirencester, did the local Elton Maze which is dog friendly. The barn was a lot bigger than expected and very comfortable with good facilities. We found the beds comfortable and pans easy to cook with. The dogs found the cows most entertaining! Weren't very keen on the Severn Bore pub but if you drive 5 mins down the road we loved The Lyon Inn. Also really recommend the farm shop on the dame road - we visited on the last day but wish we had sooner, with fresh foods, a deli counter and cafe. Had a great stay and would recommend to anyone! Thank you
-
"We so enjoyed our stay."
The only small issue is the noise from the traffic, but I think we grew accustomed to it the longer into our stay. We could not fault the home, as it was comfortable, and with beautiful scenery. I would not hesitate to stay here again, as the owners, and their daughter couldn't have been more helpful. We had a fabulous time.
-
"The property was spacious and clean and we were able to close gate so our dog could be safe."
There were lovely walks near by and friendly cows (3) in field that came up to the fence. The patio area was lovely to sit on the sun shone to the side and came round to back. The Severn Bore pub is the local and very friendly and have WiFi.if you need it. We were all thankful for the technology break hence no signal/WiFi. The Fryday chip shop up next village was beautiful food. Forest Dean, Ross Gardens and more, hence we used Dovetail as stopping point for rest etc. However the double bed needs replacing due to squeeking and creaking and the mattress is past its best. Majority of Saucepans have seen better days. The traffic noise was very loud with windows shut at night. A packet biscuits and bottle of wine was left for us. We left the wine as we don't drink. Thank you
-
"Lovely property."
Could do with wi fi. Also single seater chair seat has collapsed making it uncomfortable to sit in. Altogether though a lovely holiday and we will definitely book again.
-
"Dovetail is a lovely place to stay, the house is a great base for access to Forest of Dean, River Wye for water activities and surrounding villages, nearest pub is 1/2 a mile away."
The house is very well equipped for a comfy stay and enjoys great open views from the patio. There is no WiFi which took some getting used to, but became a bonus. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
-
"Many thanks for a lovely stay ."
Everything was just as described
-
"The only complaint was that the adjoining footpath was fixed so we were not able to give the dogs a quick run in the morning."
-
"Slight problem with the boiler but that was resolved."
Follow up was done on day two which was great. Would definitely like to return
-
"Dovetail was an extremely comfortable, light and airy cottage, very well equipped and quiet despite being situated on a main road."
It was a pleasure to say there.
-
"A lovely cottage."
perfect for what we needed. Ideal for pets. All on one level, very comfortable and cosy. This was our second visit and would highly recommend the cottage for any time of the year. Many thanks to the owners.
-
"As described, the pictures are a good representation."
Very good value for money. Garden is secure for our dogs and has amazing views. Was very clean! Bedrooms smelt fresh. Road did not cause us an issue, described as noisy/busy and it was, had bedroom windows open all night, my husband slept through to 8 am, and so did my son. I'm an early riser, so went for a run most mornings. Footpath along main road on opposite side of road, so once crossed, perfectly safe. Took the lane opposite and numerous options for short 3 mile run or up to about 8 miles. Great for walking the dogs too. Footpath access down left hand side of property, but did have to lift dogs over stiles. However if we walked along main road for 5 mins, there was easy access without stiles. Only about 15 minutes from supermarkets in Gloucester, close to lots of places of interest.
-
"The description said that there were walks from the cottage but the garden is fully fenced, which is in one way a good thing of course but the gate into the field was padlocked."
The only walk was accessed by the stile and footpath next door, followed by another stile. This meant going out onto the road and these were accessible only to people and we had to try and lift our two Bassett Hounds over both of these to walk, which was very difficult. The traffic noise was constant and went on all night, we were unlucky as there were temporary lights outside the gate, but the road is very busy and the property would be much nicer if effort were made to minimise it, with a fence and hedge perhaps. The property itself was fine but the fridge too small.
-
"Great location, really well equipped accommodation, lovely welcome touches of wine and biscuits."
Loved watching the cows in the morning and being able to eat outside looking at the views. Owners really helpful. Would definitely reuse if in the area again.
-
"A lovely location out in the country but the bus stops are just outside so it is very convenient to get to lots of places."
Some road noise but it didn't bother me.
-
"Lovely place."
The owners have thought of everything. Would definitely stay here again. We used it as a base as we were visiting family. Comfy beds slept like a log. The shower was good too.
-
"Yes we were on a main road, which we weren't a where of."
But they did have feed back about the 2 seater sofa wasn't comfortable, but we found it ok, But we had a delivery on the 4th day of a 3 seater sofa, i mentioned that i found the bed was a bit uncomfortable, that same day we had a good memory topper, delivered, The cows came to see you in the morning and evening. All in all it was a lovely stay.
-
"This is a lovely little place which is comfortable and clean."
The view from the back is very picturesque and it is good having the rear patio with doors opening onto it - it gets the afternoon sun as well. We could let our dog out that way for a wander. There were dog bowls in the cottage. There was a bottle of wine in the fridge when we arrived, a nice touch. The kitchen area is very serviceable as is the shower/toilet, there's always plenty of hot water. The location is really between Minsterworth and Westbury-on-Severn. It takes about thirty five minutes to walk to Westbury. There is a first class pub with quality menu (The Lyon Inn) in Westbury- go there. The nearest pub, some fifteen minutes easy walk, is The Severn Bore which is like a local in character and basic pub grub can be had there. Both places are dog friendly and with good beer gardens. We'd recommend that anyone staying at The Dovetail brings some food supplies as there are no shops around at convenient distance although there is a premier with a limited choice attached to a nearby Esso petrol station as well as a pricey specialist food outlet just opposite the petrol station. There are no shops in Westbury. If anyone thinking of staying here has a need for internet access - there isn't wi-fi, okay for the likes of me but not for some. We had a cracking stay at Dovetail, the four nights went too quickly. It was good value and is a good base for walkers and anyone wishing to visit the Forest of Dean. I'd recommend it.
-
"We are both disabled and found the shower to small my wife only has 1 leg and could not shower at all and my self found it to small may be turn it into a wet room ."
The soffa was realy uncomfortable and the tv a bit small. The scariest thing was getting out of the gate onto the main road very scary on times otherwise a nice place. david
-
"Lovely cottage."
Just disappointing that the mentioned dishwasher wastnt there. We had a great stay and will be booking again.
-
"The cottage is very airy with the high ceiling in lounge area, it is well appointed and very adequate for our stay."
Rachel was very helpful. Directions might be improved as the cottage is in fact between Minsterworth and Westbury on Severn and on the opposite side of the road as assume, ie on right hand side travelling from Gloucester. But having said that, should it be nessary to be inthat location again, would not hesitate to repeat stay and certainly recommend Dovetail as an exceptional comfortable holiday booking. if transported it could make as ideal first home! Terry and Mary Grayson.
-
"Had a very lovely and much needed break away at Dovetail."
The cottage itself was really nice - it was very much appreciated to arrive somewhere where even the basics such as tea bags, washing up liquid and some condiments were available along with a bottle of wine and chocolate biscuits! Nice outdoor space with beautiful views (fabulous for star gazing on a clear night). Heads up if you have young children as the gates are open straight on to a busy A road (I'm sure you could close the gates!). Glorious weather definitely helped a stay away in the middle of a pandemic when we weren't sure what would or wouldn't be open. The Forest of Dean was only about 20 minutes drive away, Gloucester the same. We also visited Westbury Court Gardens (National Trust) less than 10 minutes drive away which was nice and had a short river walk from there (Westbury-On-Severn itself has nothing apart from a pub and church!). We went up well equipped with meals ready to heat so can't comment on local pubs, restaurants or take aways. There were big supermarkets all short drives away. WiFi would have been useful. Would normally scoff at such a suggestion when on a holiday, but being self employed did need to do a level of work whilst away so my data took a hammering! As already mentioned, do be mindful if you have young children who could easily escape out of the gates if left open. The driveway can be easily missed too and you are turning in to it off a fast main road so do be careful of tailgating drivers behind. We used the bus shelter opposite as a point of reference! Thank you for a grand stay in a lovely, homely cottage. Perfect for the three of us.
-
"We always enjoy our holidays at Dovetail."
Lots of walks from the doorstep. We particularly like the walk along the river. Terry and Ann are a lovely couple and everything you need is provided, together with wine, cakes, sausage rolls etc. We have been coming here twice a year for five years or so. Have booked again for next year and 2022.
-
"The barn was stunning views."
The log burner is amazing to have on in the evenings Ann who owns the barn is very lovely and on hand if you need any help Our stay was amazing our two dogs also enjoyed there stay
-
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dovetail."
It was perfect for our dogs with excellent, secure fencing. The cottage is situated with beautiful views front and rear and surrounded by a lovely orchard. It provided easy access to where ever we needed to go. Thank you for the wine and biscuits, they were much appreciated. Very helpful owners and with their advice we were able to see the Severn Bore. We would love to visit again.
-
"The cottage was clean, warm and a good base for exploring the area."
The wine and biscuits left was a lovely welcoming gesture. However we found the double bed mattress was very uncomfortable and noisy. The cottage is right next to the A48 which is fairly busy and causing a substantial amount of noise even during the night. We did manage to sleep but someone who is a light sleeper may find this challenging. It also prevented us from keeping the windows open at night even though it was warm.
-
"I wrote a review and said we would soon return."
We did. Dovetail is a great place to stay - really peaceful and restorative. The owners are exceptional and we thank them for all their kindness. We will return very soon.
-
"This is a real home away from home."
A place to relax and enjoy the benefits of the Forest of Dean. Fabulous food available from The Wye Smokery, Cameron’s butchers and Over Farm. The owners of the property are truly Kind & wonderful: they are close at hand and happy to help or just leave you be. We can’t thank them enough for all they did in helping us to get our border terrier further on the road to recovery after back surgery. They will do everything to make your stay perfect for you. We will absolutely return as soon as we can.
-
"We like the little cottage made us feel welcome."
Plenty of parking and perfect for our little dog. We will be going again next year thank you, good value for money
-
"Lovely place to stop great for the money."
Loved the little treats when we arrived. Busy road not a problem ideal location to see the Severn bore and to travel around. Only slight problem was getting out of the drive with neighbours parked cars .. there was a blind spot and couldn’t see fast moving traffic. Wonderful area local people so friendly and welcoming
-
"The location over all was good Gloucester quays worth a visit."
The problem with dovetail is the owner needs to spend some money on the property. The bed is in desperate need of a new mattress a new sofa and a larger fridge.
-
"We were not told it was next to a noisy road"
-
"Good welcome pack including wine sausage rolls cakes and biscuits ."
we felt that there was not enough info on equipment .
-
"Very lovely cottage, bottle of wine with sausage rolls and home made cup cakes and even some chic chip cookies, just perfect."
Neighbour very friendly and helpful. Cottage is on a busy road but nice big gate and fenced off so dog could have a roam and chat with the cows
-
"This is a nice little cottage , with good facilities well fitted out ."
but the noise from the main road is bad it is beside the main a48, very busy road day and night. there for we would not stay there again .
-
"The cottage was spotlessly clean and the wine and goodies left for our arrival were a lovely surprise."
Everything that we needed was in the kitchen and cottage was cosy. We were slightly disappointed that the shower cubicle is a little small for us - it was difficult to move around when using it. The main road was not a problem as that was evident from the information provided but we were a little wary of turning out of the property as your vision is obscured by neighbours' vehicles parked on the kerb. It maybe that we were a little unlucky and that they are not always there! Lovely enclosed garden for our dog which was perfect. Overall we had a lovely stay and would recommend!
-
"Owners very friendly and helpful, sausage rolls and cake to greet us on arrival a nice surprise after a longish drive."
Quite close to a busy main road but once inside the cottage we were not aware of any traffic noise.
-
"Dovetail was a lovely place clean and felt safe."
We had home made cup cakes and sausage roll which was great. We had our little dog with us which was nice too.
-
"Even though the weather varied from drizzle and full on rain plus high winds with the occasional hour or two of sunshine Dovetail cottage kept us warm, snug and comfortable."
In addition, on our arrival we found a bottle of wine, sausage rolls and cup cakes, tea, coffee and biscuits awaiting us! The two of us and our dog enjoyed the holiday very much indeed and we have no hesitation at all in thoroughly recommending it.
-
"The Cottage was exactly what it said in the packet clean tidy and comfortable, we were welcomed by sausage rolls cup cakes and a bottle of wine, a very nice touch by the owners."
We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this cottage to anyone. The only downside if I am being picky is the access off the very busy main road.
-
"We had a really good time at Dovetail it was spotlessly clean and there was a nice welcome for us with wine, sausage rolls and cake."
The cottage was comfortable with thought put into what you might need whilst away from home ie: ironing board iron and hair dryer etc. Views were great including the 2 cows and their calves as neighbours. The owners daughter Rachael was friendly and helpful but did not interfere with our stay. We will try and go back to Dovetail in the next few months ( work permitting )
-
"Lovely little cottage next to a field of two beautiful cows with their calves, great views across the countryside from all windows."
Lovely airy open space, perfect for our family of 3, with small outside space to sit in the sunshine. Excellent location for visiting lots of attractions in the Forest of Dean, particularly good for children, also very close to Gloucester. Very well kept cottage, with a couple of very good pubs only a short drive away in Westbury on Severn.
-
"A lovely cottage - welcome pack and bedding towels etc all fantastic."
Had 2 excitable dogs and was happy to see Public Walkway right next door- however was discouraged by owner of next door house to use Public Walkway - was told she would rather we didn’t. Obviously my dogs would have been kept on a lead going through her garden but she asked us not to. This rather spoilt our holiday as was not many other places to walk and run our dogs off the lead.
-
"View of the fields and cows is so relaxing."
Have visited Dovetail 5 times and are booked again for later this year and twice for next year. We love the place.
-
"Nice Friendly Owners and very nice cottage"
-
"Dovetail is a gem of a cottage with attention to detail for comfort."
It is well equipped,in a good location for visiting many places around the Forest of Dean and has ample parking and sitting area outside. We had a great week and will be returning.
-
"The cottage was lovely, clean and well equipped."
Welcome goodies were a very nice touch. Although on a major road we never noticed any traffic noise. Our dogs enjoyed the large safe garden. Only one minor comment, there was no radio/cd player as listed. We would happily stay at Dovetail again.
-
"Very good garden for dogs very secure considering it was close to a very busy main road."
Very good welcome pack on arrival.
-
"A lovely cottage, cosy and with everything necessary to have a relaxing holiday."
It is in a good position with easy access to the Forest of Dean, Gloucester, Chepstow, Monmouth and Tewkesbury. There is plenty of outside space for the dogs and a nice view of Walmore Common and the hills in the distance. We had our shopping delivered by Asda which was convenient. The only things missing for me were a full length mirror and a clock. Altogether a very pleasant holiday and we hope to be back
-
"Just wanted to say that Dovetail was lovely, the cottage had been decorated for Christmas, there were mince pies, biscuits and homemade sausage rolls, what a wonderful surprise."
........... would recommend but just a little comment due to having dogs and awful weather, a washing machine would have been handy..........
-
"Lovely cottage , owner very friendly and very clean and tidy."
Was great for our dogs and very safe well enclosed garden. It never bothered us but it's very close to a main road and was a bit noisy
-
"The view from the back of the cottage extended uninterrupted for miles with hills, water and grassland."
To the back and side of the garden was a field with two friendly cows. The whole experience was very relaxing .
-
"Cottage is great really comfortable and cosy ."
Lovely spacious garden for dogs to run around Lovely welcome pack from owners of home made cakes and sausage rolls. A great base to explore surrounding area would recommend.
-
"You have Minsterworth west of Dovetail when it is to the east and you have Westbury to the east when it is to the west."
Please check your map!
-
"Great value for money."
....wish the pub was a little closer, other then that all good. Take a torch if walking back from pub at night.
-
"Well situated for the Cotswolds and the Forest of Dean."
Ideal for dog; safe and secure garden, and we appreciated having access to the orchard next door as well. Welcomed with home baking, which was lovely. The only snag is the traffic noise, but it didn't bother us because it was autumn and we had the windows shut. But the advert was honest about this, so we were not surprised.
-
"The directions were wrong."
Minsterworth is to the east and Westbury to the west and Sykes had them the other way round. The property was four doors to the east of the school not to the west. Made it difficult for us to find it. We had a wonderful holiday and loved the property and the location. The countryside was lovely and the proximity to the River Severn. Bus stops were only a few yards away so it was easy to visit Gloucester and Forest of Dean villages. The welcome pack was a nice touch and the owners were very helpful.
-
"Lovely views from inside the cottage of the fields beyond with the pet cows and their calves the other side of the fence, could not let my dog out off his lead as there was a large hole underneath the gate which was the entrance to the cottage which led onto one of the busiest roads, no immediate walks from cottage because of this road."
The cottage was comfortable but could not find the radio/cd player. Took our own dvd player for the evenings, only one game in cottage and most of the suggested places of interest did not allow dogs, so had to rely on forest walks. Most pubs did not allow dogs inside and in September it can rain. As we found out after a long walk, lucky there was a large tree with a bench to sit under until it stopped.
