  • "Notwithstanding the impact of Storm Darragh on the first couple of days of our stay, we enjoyed a very pleasant week at the cottage, which serves as a perfect base to explore the nearby towns, villages and attractions."

The addition of Christmas touches in the cottage were much appreciated and only served to further underline what a charming town Chipping Campden is, particularly at this time of year. Once darkness falls, the town becomes almost magical with all the houses, cottages, shops and hotels lit up to welcome in the season. Simply delightful!

  • "What a lovely cottage very comfortable."

Very well equipped with everything you need during your stay. The log burner is wonderful especially on the colder days. The location is superb for discovering the wonderful Chipping Campden. The local pubs and restaurants are all of a high to good standard. If you have any mobility problems this is not the property for you as there are multiple levels inside and out. People have mentioned problems with the "lay by" we had no problem whatsoever with this however at the time of visiting most of the rental properties were unoccupied. Parking in the summer months I imagine could be an issue albeit a small one.

  • "Lanes Cottage is in a wonderful location in the beautiful Cotswold town of Chipping Campden."

The cottage itself was cosy and comfortable with a fireplace in the lounge area that provided the ideal atmosphere for my wife and I as we enjoyed the novelty of seeing snow in the town and being able to return to a warm and comfortable cottage. The bed was also very comfortable and overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this very nice cottage. The only criticism we had was the configuration of the bathroom and in particular the positioning of the toilet which is quite restrictive. However that did not at all spoil our time at Lanes Cottage.

  • "Lovely cottage with great amenities and location."

Well-resourced kitchen, decent shower and comfortable reception areas. Rear garden is lovely but beware of Holly berries if you have a greedy / stupid dog… Lovely (off-lead) dog walking opportunities on Dovers Hill and out behind the large church located roughly half a mile behind the cottage. Local area has great selection of pubs / restaurants and, although slightly limited, the local Co-op has pretty much anything you may need. Lovely cottage in a beautiful and relaxing location. Thank you.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us, especially the lovely dog walks on Dovers Hill. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Best Wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "Beautiful cottage which was of a very standard."

However it was closer to the road and hence traffic was busy at times. Parking was a slight issue as several of the neighbours clearly had their own parking spots in the lay-by either side so you were left with trying to find a spot on the road. However this aside the cottage was beautiful and we had a very relaxing holiday and would thoroughly recommend a stay.

It would be nice to find some way of providing some hanging/storage for the small back bedroom as my son and his partner just lived out of their rucksacks. Also, a pair of scales for the kitchen would be great. Guessing when cooking rice and pasta is a bit haphazard! We had a lovely time, though, and absolutely loved the garden. Thank you!

You are spoilt for choice for eating out with lovely local pubs and restaurants on your door step.As well as independent shops with welcoming staff. The cottage has every thing you need for a lovely stay with a sunny garden great for sitting out in after a days walking. There are great walks from the cottage so can leave the car and enjoy the countryside. We were worried about the cottage having no private parking but had no problem parking on the street outside the cottage any time of day. Will definitely be going back as a great base to explore the Cotswolds and Warwick and Stratford -upon- Avon all within easy reach.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Lanes Cottage. Very comfortable beds Improvements needed When paying £230 a night we hoped we might have found a bag (£10) of logs. The few small bits left didn't even keep us going for the first night. The open fire is a selling point. Although there were 3 toilet rolls left. They were cheap and didn't last the 2days. These touches I felt would have improved the stay. Apart from that all was very good.

It was extremely well-equipped throughout and the kitchen was bigger than it looked in the photo. A lovely garden to enjoy too. Just be aware if you are very tall that the toilet is very cramped though there is plenty of room in the bathroom generally. • "The cottage was spot on for a few nights as a base in the Cotswolds."

It's a very short walk onto the Chipping Campden High Street, so ammenities were on our doorstep. The cottage itself we very clean, tidy & well appointed. We could have easily stayed for a week or two. We were two friends, however, even two couples could have stayed, although one room only has a "regulare" double, so a little "cosy" for two! Beyond that, it has a lovely garden, all the rooms were very usable & pleasant environments to spend time. It is a cottage, so it's not palatial, however, there was more than enough room for 2, 3 or 4 people. I'd gladly recommend the place to others & stay again myself.

  • "The location is excellent, with several good restaurants, pubs and shops within easy walking distance."

Photographs of the cottage did not unfortunately include one of the stairs, and had they done so I would not have booked it. The stairs twist as they ascend from the ground floor and then go up in a straight flight. There is a handrail, but owing to a small window on the stairs the handrail only begins when the stairs become a straight flight. For anyone with a mobility issue, the stairs could well prove difficult. The cottage was very clean, and comfortably furnished, but the second bedroom, which was for one person, did not have a wardrobe, and the only place to hang clothes was a few hooks on the back of the door. The rear garden is in several tiers, beautiful, and secure for a dog. There was a table and chairs on a paved area adjacent to the kitchen and another table and chairs on a paved area at the top of the garden. I booked this cottage in the expectation of having a relaxing break, but there were building noises from the adjacent cottage most of the week which made it impossible at times to stay indoors . A previous guest had written about building noises as far back as last December! It would have been reasonable I believe for the possibility of noise to have been mentioned in the description of the cottage.

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We try and be as transparent as possible on the property listing which mentions the head-height and narrow stairs along with photos to show this. The Cotswold Cottage was built around 1850's so has it's expected quirks. Best wishes, Character Cottages Property Owner

Location, perfect. If this was summer or spring it would be fine but in winter, you need blankets for guests and there are none, maybe due to Covid-19 regulations. Dover Hill is a nice 20 minutes walk away and very easy to get to. The town has everything you need in it. We booked on the basis of previous reviews and they were accurate down to a T. Bedroom is spacious, nice big bathroom and enough room in the living room for 2 by the fire. would have been quite cosey with 4 though I think. Firewood is available round the corner from the Co-op. The TV is a very good quality screen which is around 38 inches. It comes away from the wall so the pictures make it look more awkward than it is. Towels were a little small so if you like a big towel would suggest bringing your own, similarly only 1 toilet roll is provided so should definitely bring extra. Would definitely go back and it gets a well deserved 5 stars.

Sleeping three guests in two bedrooms, it is the perfect base for a small family or couple wanting to explore the Cotswolds.

Be welcomed into the homely sitting room that is home to a welcoming two-seater sofa and two armchairs for you to slouch into after a long day, whilst the open fire keeps you warm and comforted.

Separated from the sitting room by the staircase you will find the dining room which has a wooden table where you can eat heart-warming meals and play games with the selection that are on offer.

Two steps lead you into the well-equipped kitchen that is perfect for making delicious home-cooked meals with your loved ones.

Completing the ground floor is a stylish shower room with a lovely Velux window and a walk-in shower, perfect for a wash down before heading to bed.

When sleep calls, head upstairs where you will find two inviting bedrooms; the master has an eye-catching Cotswold stone chimney breast and fitted wardrobes with a king-size bed, the second bedroom has an attractive Cotswold stone feature wall and a double bed where you can get lost in the pages of a good book from the selection the owners have on offer.

In the morning, make yourself a warming mug of tea and head out into the patio garden, which has stone steps leading you up to the lawned tiers which are bordered by pretty shrubs, as you continue on the path to the top terrace which houses a table set, perfect for al fresco dining and breathing in the fresh country air.

Enjoy an invigorating shower and head out for the day into the heart of Chipping Campden, which is one of the best-loved and most picturesque market towns in England, where you can enjoy a warming tea at Campden Coffee Co before heading to Little Oak Vineyard, an award-winning vineyard where you can try and buy wonderful wines.

Head over to Hidecote, home to sizeable 20th century gardens with narrow paths, lawn games, two lovely cafés and great views, run by the National Trust.

Just a short car ride will put you in Moreton-in-Marsh where you can visit Batsford Arboretum and Garden Centre where you can enjoy the stunning grounds, meander around the garden centre and enjoy a refreshing drink at the café.

A fun day out is spent at All Things Wild in Evesham, a fantastic year-round family attraction, comprising of animals, dinosaurs, soft play and much more to discover!

Lanes Cottage is a wonderful base for creating memories that will last forever.

About the location

CHIPPING CAMPDEN

Moreton-in-Marsh 8 miles; Stratford-upon-Avon 12 miles

This market town defines the saying "good things come in small packages" as it proves itself to be a wonderful place for tourists to stay. Chipping Campden sits in the northern part of the Cotswolds and boasts many historical buildings from St. James' church where the Chipping Camden Music Festival is held every year, to the early 17th century market hall upon which the town prides itself.
