  • "Really lovely property, and well equipped."

  • "The property that we stayed at last weekend was fantastic."

There was a spacious living room with 2 large sofa’s leading to the outside space above the car part. The floor above (leading to the front door) had a good sized kitchen and a WC. The floor above had 2 bedrooms (one with en-suite) and a separate bathroom. The top floor had another bedroom with an en-suite. All in all a great modern property nicely furnished and decorated that we loved spending time in for 6 adults, a 7 month baby and our four year old Cavapoo. The house is within walking distance to the town centre which has a number of pubs and shops. Pauline did a great job of providing a little hamper of essentials (milk, orange juice, coffee, tea, sugar, bread, butter and jam) We had a lovely evening meal at the Amalfi Italian restaurant in Nailsworth (about 20min drive) and visited Bourton-on-the-Water, both of which we can recommend. We also walked to the animal sanctuary about 5 minutes walk from the house. Overall we absolutely loved the townhouse and how spacious and comfortable it was as well as the charming town of Malmesbury. Final point my son whilst looking after his 7 month old son at the house managed to leave behind an expensive Tag watch and didn’t notice that he hadn’t picked it up before we checked out on the last day. Pauline was so helpful and messaged informing me that a Tag watch had been left behind - we managed to collect the watch from Pauline today. Thank you Pauline for everything.

Atmosphere, fornitures and all the necessary for a amazing stay are provided. We stayed 4 night (we are 5) in August and it was perfect. Pauline was already available for any needs. Malmesbury is a good base to visit Cotswolts and all the west from Stonehenge to Stratton upon Avon including Bath, Oxford and also London. You have to drive, but driving along that ways means to be surprised for the landscape after each roundabout... Highly recommended.

The owner, Pauline, was very helpful, providing groceries and allowing us to get into the house early. The house was well furnished and there was everything you could ever need, the kitchen was very well equipped. There was lots of seating for relaxing and two dining tables although we only used the table in the kitchen. The only negative would be that, as it's a four storey house, it's a long way from the lounge to the top floor bedroom so it would not be good for anyone with mobility problems. We would definitely return here.

  • "We booked The Light as a group of 6 friends for New Year and stayed 3 nights."

We were delighted with the accommodation, and the booking process. Pauline (owner) made contact via email prior to our stay and was contactable throughout should we have needed too. The house is extremely well equipped with everything you need for cooking and eating. ( loved the large fridge /freezer ) The furnishings are beautiful and to a very high standard. The beds were all comfy with fabulous quilts and bed linen. We had a welcome pack and fresh flowers, which was a lovely welcome. The house is within walking distance of the town with lovely shops and plenty of choice of pubs and places to eat. There are lovely views and a decked patio area, with plenty of seating ( which we didn’t get to use as rather wet while we were there,!) We didn’t have enough time to visit any of the surrounding area and villages but this means we will have to go back ! We would certainly recommend Pauline’s house and would definitely book again. • "The property was very spacious and had everything we needed."

The welcome pack and flowers were such a lovely touch. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in a very lovely part of the UK. The only couple of negative things I would say is it would have been nice to have a fan or two for the heatwave we experienced during our stay. Also, the traffic outside was particularly heavy in the early hours and with the windows open because of the heat, it woke us early most mornings.

The property was beautifully furnished with quality linen provided. Pauline was so helpful both prior to and during our stay and easy to follow instructions made our late arrival a breeze. The few goodies and a bottle of bubbly were very generous and a welcome sight after our long trip from Australia! 8 The Light is well located being only a short stroll into the beautiful town. So many great pubs, cafes and restaurants to try! It is also perfectly situated for day trips to Bath and Bristol and to explore the beautiful Cotswolds villages. Thanks Pauline. • "This has been one of the nicest place we have ever stayed."

We arrived later than we hoped, however with the excellent communications that the owner had had with us through the pre-trip period, we knew how to get in, where the lights, heating etc was in advance. This made a big difference at the end of a long trip with kids and a dog. The property itself was immaculate, very clean, plenty of room, light and great parking. The addition of lemon cake in the fridge, milk, tea, sugar, coffee, towels and all toiletries - it was ready to go immediately. In the past have had to do an initial shop to get the basics, this was not the case here and it was very much appreciated! The location is excellent, with two easy ca. 10 minute walks into Malmesbury, which is a lovely town. Likewise with regards to other short outings, we went to Lacock, Castle Coobe and did some frisbee golf at Calcote Spa, there is a lot to do in the area. We recommend the Old Bell Hotel in Malmesbury, it is very nice for dinner. Overall this property ticked every box that were hoped for and some more we were not expecting, we highly recommend it all who are looking to come here, you will be very happy that you made this decision if you do!

The description of the property was very accurate and, arriving late afternoon (in the dark) we were greeted with a warm welcome and everything we needed at our fingertips. Pauline couldn't have made things easier - especially thoughtful and helpful in all respects. The house was spotless and nicely spacious for a good size group (although we were only 2 and a wee dog + 2 (for one night only). An excellent, well equipped, kitchen area for easy living and a large, thoughtfully furnished living room / dining room downstairs in which to relax / read / watch tv or just spend time with friends. It is a very well equipped property with plentiful kitchen equipment, utensils, glasses, china etc. The owner provided thoughtful touches like a food welcome pack containing all the essentials (as well as a cake) and fresh flowers on arrival. The beds were very comfortable, as were the large sofas, and cosy throws and extra duvets are made available for cooler months. There are two tables for casual or more formal dining and both offered comfy chairs. In fact all the fixtures and furnishings are of a high standard throughout. Malmesbury town is less than a 5 min walk and again caters for all needs with butchers, bakers and dog friendly pubs who are all very welcoming. There are numerous local walks worth checking out together with many great walks within a 30min maximum drive. We have used both the birdcage (pizza) and Rajah (Indian) takeaways and would highly recommend both. It is well situated for plenty of walks and National Trust walks and properties. We also enjoyed basing ourselves in Malmesbury, as it offers good food, pubs, and a lovely Abbey. The property was very well equipped and furnished to a high standard. It was clean and the owner was very good to deal with, and provided us with a generous welcome pack (bread, butter, jam, milk, juice, tea coffee etc.). It was easy to find, near enough to the centre of Malmesbury to walk there but far enough away to offer peace and quiet. It has a lovely outside seating area at the back of the property, and we made full use of this. If we visited this part of the Cotswalds again, we would not hesitate in seeking this property out again.
