"We are a family of 8 and spent half term (Lancashire) at the Gables."
We had a great week. We haven't previously stayed in the Cotswolds, but will definitely return soon. The property was perfect for our needs, very comfortable, plenty of space, warm and the kind of place you look forward to returning to at the end of each day. Lisa, the owner, very contactable and helpful, approachable. The area is stupendous for views and sight seeing visits. We struggled initially with driving in the narrow lanes, but, minor issue and soon overcome once we got the "hang".
Thank you for your lovely feedback, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at The Gables and look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Best Wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

"What a lovely home with such outstanding views!"
The views are absolutely stunning and everything provided was fresh and spotlessly clean. We didn’t want for anything! I like that the pots had been planted for a touch of Autumn colour - it shows that the house is well cared for inside and out. Lisa was very accommodating and communicative throughout. We shall definitely be booking to stay again.

"The property was lovely, comfortable and it has gorgeous views from its raised position across the valley."
It was exceptionally clean, has good facilities and is well presented. Communication on booking, arrival and throughout our stay was easy and helpful. Taller family members did have to watch out for low beams upstairs and eye masks were provided as very light in the bedrooms from the high windows. Neither of these detracted from a lovely property, we would happily go back. Thank you for our stay.

"Wonderful, welcoming cottage situated in a quiet picturesque village."
Fantastic views from every window, garden and hot tub....you felt like you were in the middle of nowhere. Great snug for the kids packed with games and an excellent equipped kitchen for the grownups; not to mention relaxing in the hotub under a stary sky. Well placed for visiting the Cotswolds and a nice walk to the local pub. Can recommend the Sunday roast.

"Had a lovely time at The Gables over Xmas."
Very well equipped, immaculately clean and although quite a large house, still cosy and the views are amazing from most rooms. The hot tub was an absolute boon for drizzly and chilly late afternoons after a walk. There are nice walks from the house. The pub in the village was great. Owners are very attentive and left a lovely basket of goodies for us. Thank you.
Thank you for your wonderful feedback. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your Christmas break at The Gables. Best wishes, Manor Cottages Property Owner

About the location
SHEEPSCOMBE
Painswick 2 miles; Stroud 5 miles; Nailsworth 9 miles.
The ancient village of Sheepscombe dates back to the 13th century and was a former deer park and hunting ground and is home to The Laurie Lee Field, used by the village cricket club of which Laurie's uncles were founding members. This thriving village has an excellent pub the Butcher's Arms which serves home-cooked food and real ale, as well as a well-stocked shop and a Grade II listed church, owned by English Heritage. Many lovely walks can be enjoyed in all directions with the Cotswold Way and Wysis Way running close by. The beautiful Fairtrade town of Painswick, known as Queen of the Cotswold, boasts 14th century houses including two donkey doors, wide enough for panniered donkeys to enter, 17th century stocks as well as a stunning church with 99 yew trees. Legend has it that the 100th will not grow! This charming town offers individual shops, tea rooms, pubs and stunning scenery. Nearby, visit the Fairtrade town of Nailsworth, with its art galleries, individual shops and spring music and art festivals. The nearby market town of Stroud, described by the British designer Jasper Conran as the Covent Garden of the Cotswolds, has a somewhat bohemian collection of buildings, squares and lanes tucked into green hills once grazed by countless sheep. Today, it welcomes visitors to its friendly cafes, quaint bookstores, independent shops and tempting eateries. It has the best farmers' market in the UK, according to FARMA in 2013, year-round programmes of music and theatre, a thriving arts scene and a modern cinema. For simply relaxing, Stratford Park on the edge of town offers lakeside walks, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a museum. Head out of town to explore sweeping valleys, canals and country lanes that are ideal for walking or cycling. Visit Winstones Ice Cream Parlour on Rodborough Common, founded in 1925 and one of the most highly awarded producers in the country. The historic waterfront city of Gloucester offers Roman foundations, Victorian Docklands and a magnificent Norman cathedral (whose cloisters were used as a location in the Harry Potter films) rubbing shoulders with a bustling city centre. The delightful Regency spa town of Cheltenham, with its historic Georgian architecture and incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants, pubs and visitor attractions, as well as numerous festivals including the famous Gold Cup horse racing, is just a short drive away and is well worth a visit. This is a wonderful location for your well-deserved holiday at any time of the year.
