A much more relaxed stay than the one at a different property last year. The AGA sadly packed up during our stay but this didn't really cause us an issue and the owner was really apologetic. We hope to return next year!

Thank you for your feedback. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay and are sorry to hear about the AGA. We look forward to welcoming you back! Manor Cottages Property Owner

Freezer needs de-frosting as it is almost unusable and needs a new toaster. Toilet cistern needs looking at as the water constantly runs into the bowl.

The property

Manor Cottage is a quintessential Cotswold stone cottage, located in the heart of the peaceful, rural village of Poulton, within the grounds of Poulton’s beautiful manor house.

The cottage is surrounded by beautiful countryside and has been refurbished to be the perfect holiday home for families and groups of friends who are seeking a beautiful base from which to explore the lovely Cotswolds.

Park-up in one of the two off-road parking spaces that sit right outside the cottage before making your way through the private garden pathway that leads you up to the oak front door, where you can load your luggage into the hallway and kick off your boots, ready to enter into your home-from-home.

Step into the large, welcoming sitting room, where you can kick back and relax on the enticing seating, surrounded by character features including oak beams and flagstone flooring, as the warming, roaring fire keeps you warm and toasty on a cold evening.

Moving through into the kitchen/diner, you will find all the necessary appliances you need to concoct delicious meals for your loved ones, including an AGA, which also heats the cottages water, as well as a dishwasher to make cleaning up a breeze!

Dine at the large wooden dining table with your group and enjoy a glass of your favourite wine to get your holiday started!

When the night draws to a close, head up to the first-floor and tuck the children into the twin beds in the second bedroom where you’ll also find a handy full-size day bed (available as a bed on request), before heading to your night-time retreat in the stunning four poster king-size bed to lay your head to rest, ahead of a busy few days that lie before you.

Indulge in an invigorating rinse in the bath where you’ll find a shower over, before heading down to make yourself a warming mug of coffee to be enjoyed in the crisp morning air in the beautiful gardens.

You will find a mixture of lawns and patio area, surrounded by bushes, trees and Cotswold stone walls, as you take a seat at the bistro table and enjoy total peace.

Poulton is surrounded by beautiful countryside and although small and rural, it has a Post Office, a popular pub and a children's playground close to the cottage.

Nearby Cirencester is the largest of the towns and is known as the ‘capital of the Cotswolds’, supporting a wide range of amenities, where you can visit the Cirencester Antiques & Collectables Market, or take a stroll around Cirencester Park which forms the Bathurst Estate and is a picturesque country park with plenty to discover and do, and finish off with a refreshing tipple and meal at The Bear Inn.

Make a visit to Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens where you will find over 250 species of animals and be inspired by the beautiful landscaping and seasonal displays throughout the park in nearby Burford, known as Southern “gateway to the Cotswolds”.

Venture further afield to the regency town of Cheltenham which offers a wide range of attractions, shops, restaurants and pubs, and is perhaps the most well-known being the Cheltenham Festival, one of the top horse racing events in the UK..

For a wonderful stay that you and your loved ones will cherish, make Manor Cottage your base.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £250.

About the location

POULTON

Fairford 3.3 miles; Gloucester 23.3 miles; Cirencester 5.5 miles; Stow-on-the-Wold 22.1 miles.

Poulton is a small rural historic village situated close to the Cotswolds’ Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, approximately 24 miles south east of Gloucester. Poulton was registered in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Poltone. Historically, the village was part of the county of Wiltshire and for centuries was—physically detached from Wiltshire – an enclave of Gloucestershire. In 1844, Poulton became part of Gloucestershire under the Counties (Detached Parts) Act. Poulton is now home to a community run village shop, a local pub, The Falcon Inn, a traditional British country dining pub serving locally brewed cask ales, an interesting wine list and classic English dishes and a village hall. The thriving market town of Fairford is just over three miles away nestling on the River Coln, and offers many amenities including individual shops, cafes and traditional pubs, as well as hosting a weekly country market offering home grown and homemade produce and country crafts. RAF Fairford is home of the Royal International Air Tattoo, held in July every year, one of the largest military air shows in the world with a reputation as one of the UK's top outdoor family events. Just a short drive away is the beautiful Roman town of Cirencester, gateway to the Cotswolds, which offers excellent shopping, restaurants, ancient buildings, museums and antique markets. The Cotswold Water Park is Britain’s largest water park, set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, covering 40 square miles and made up of over 40 lakes. A wide range of activities is on offer including water skiing, cycling, horse riding, boating, golf and fishing and for the nature lovers the park offers an abundance of bird and animal life, all of which can be seen throughout the year on the three nature reserves. A little further afield visit the historic town of Malmesbury with its 12th century Benedictine abbey and Westonbirt Arboretum with an extensive collection of trees and shrubs. The honey-coloured Cotswold towns of Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water and the university city of Oxford are also easily accessible. Poulton is an excellent location for touring this varied area.

Please note: Although the garden can be closed off with gates, the wall is low at some points, and therefore children and dogs should be supervised at all times.
Please note there is a refundable Good Housekeeping Bond of £250 for this property.
Please note there is a pet charge of £35 per dog per week.
Please note an initial supply of logs & kindling is provided for the property between October until end of March; additional log supplies can be purchased locally.
