  • "Wonderful property that is deceptively large."

Lovely location, 5 minutes walk into Shilton and perfectly situated for exploring the Cotswolds. Kitchen extremely well equipped in terms of utensils, saucepans, plates etc. Had everything we could have needed and more. There were also lots of board games, toys etc for our children to play with and a very informative information pack. Bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean. The only thing to note is that the bed in the garden room was very small. So it would be very snug with two adults sharing!

Thank you for this lovely review. We're delighted you enjoyed your stay at Friesland Cottage and lovely the location too. We hope to welcome you again. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "Whilst this is a beautiful house, the downstairs toilet did not work during our stay."

There was no hot water when required on mornings when 4 adults required showers/baths. The separate outside garden room was cold and lots of steps inside and out to access the garden and inside the house, we had a person with limited mobility in our group. A bit disappointed with accomodation.

  • "A very comfortable cottage with facilities all as described."

It was, by far, the best cottage we have ever booked for our family's needs. The farm shop behind the cottage was well stocked and the owner "Camilla" was very friendly. The very local "Shilton Honey" sold there was excellent.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your recent stay at Friesland Cottage. It's wonderful to hear it was the 'Best Cottage you have ever booked for your family'. We are lucky to have lots of fabulous farm shops around. I do hope you managed to also enjoy Cotswold Wildlife Park and Blenheim, highly recommend to visit with all ages. We look forward to welcoming you again soon. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

Would definitely stay again. The layout of the main cottage plus the annex worked perfectly for four adults. The cottage was lovely and warm with the added benefit of the wood burners. Loved it!

We were very grateful that we hadn't booked it for Christmas week. We also found the dishwasher to be unpredictable.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Friesland Cottage. It sounds like you had a lovely New Year in Burford and I hope you made the most of the lovely places to visit local. We will pass on your comments regarding the dishwasher to Managed Services for review, so thank you. Property Owner

  • "Gorgeous cottage in lovely village location."

Very clean, spacious and cosy. Wifi temperamental and challenging when working remotely. Only one third of the aga was in use and unfortunately the top oven on that only worked as a grill (it should work as an oven but however we tried, we couldn’t get it to switch on). This left us with one very small oven which, when cooking a meal for six, meant we had to cook in batches. Just letting you know in case it is booked for Christmas as you’d struggle to do a roast! Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. WiFi service in rural areas, is not always the same as in towns, so we are unable to guarantee service. We are sorry to hear that you had issues with the aga. Thank you for notifying us, so we can send maintenance out to investigate. We are pleased that you liked the cottage and its location. Best wishes Manor Cottages. Property Owner

Thank you for providing us with such lovely feedback on your stay at Friesland Cottage. We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your time away and took full advantage of the beautiful surrounding area! We hope to welcome you again one day soon! Best wishes, Manor Cottages. Property Owner

  • "Everything was lovely and we enjoyed our stay."

However, we received an email two days before arriving to say the Aga hadn't passed its safety test, so was therefore switched off. It was on the description and in photos so was part of our decision in picking the house as we were catering Christmas for 7 people. We also noticed when we arrived that the wine fridge was off. There were also some areas very dirty, especially under the sofa, which we moved when my son lost some of his toys

  • "The annexe bed is TOO SMALL for 2 people!"

there is only one bedside cabinet in there - the television is in the wrong place to watch There is plenty of room in the annexe and a king size bed without a frame would have made a massive difference to our night sleep (or lack of it) that said we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thought the cottage was lovely.

Thank you for talking the time to feedback on your stay at Friesland Cottage. We're sorry that you felt the bed was too small in the annex . It is a small space and the owner has chosen the furniture to suit that but we appreciate that everyone has different preferences when it comes to a good night's sleep! The house was amazing and the garden setting was beautiful. It was lovely to spend the afternoon in the garden and use the barbecue as we had fantastic weather. About the location

BURFORD

Swinbrook 2.4 miles; Little Barrington 3.5 miles; Minster Lovell 5.6 miles.

Burford is possibly one of, if not the most famous of the Cotswolds' locations. With its medieval bridge, old stone houses and attractive Tudor and Georgian frontages, it is justifiably one of the most picturesque towns in England. Often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds', the town was originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon ford which later grew to be an important regional crossroads and wealthy wool town. Located midway between Oxford and Cheltenham, it is a little haven of history and beauty that many come to fall in love with when they visit. The 16th century Tolsey building, once the meeting place for medieval merchants, now houses The Tolsey Museum, a delightful local museum illustrating the town's social and industrial past. The church is stunning, a real gem architecturally with many interesting memorials charting some of Burford's great families. There is also the signature, on the baptisimal font, of Antony Sedley, one of the Levellers besieged in the church in 1649 - three of the ringleaders were executed by Oliver Cromwell's men in the churchyard. History awaits! With little change over the centuries, Burford is now very popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for its shopping and antiques, and for the wide variety of places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and tea shops. It is an ideal base for visiting The Cotswolds area as it is within easy driving distance of popular attractions such as Blenheim Palace, Sudeley Castle, Warwick Castle and several National Trust Houses and Gardens. Bourton on the Water, Bibury, Cirencester and Stow on the Wold are all within ten miles.
