  • "The cottage was well located and provided a comfortable stay for the two of us ."

The area was pretty and quiet . The kitchen sink tap needs a new washer it dripped constantly and had to be turned off really hard to try to reduce the flow. The tv only had 2 to channels maybe needs retuning for some more entertainment on rainy days

  • "Blockley is a lovely village, with a good cafe and shop, and convenient for many Cotswolds days out, but without the hordes of tourists that flock to some of the other towns and villages."

Foxglove Cottage is well located in easy walking distance of the cafe, shop, pubs, and is clean, comfortable and quiet. We had a lovely holiday there.

We are pleased to hear that you had an enjoyable holiday, Blockley is certainly a lovely location from which is be based. With best wishes Character Cottages Property Owner

  • "Character Cottages provided the wrong Keysafe number!"

This is really poor. Had I not managed to contact and speak to the owner we would not have been able to get in. Cottage was nice - only 3 chairs around the table though even though we were a party of 4. It would be good to state that there is no wardrobe in the first floor bedroom, only a chest of drawers and large book shelves. We enjoyed the area.

Thank you for your feedback. We can see that you were sent the updated key safe code 7 days prior to your stay, The cottage has 4 chairs, 3 chairs out in the cottage and the 4th is located in a cupboard, which is stated on our website. We would have also been happy to assist you if you had contacted us. Property Owner

  • "We have had an excellent week in this cosy and comfortable cottage."

The tea, coffee, wine, biscuits etc were a lovely touch and gratefully received and the fresh flowers and plants delightful. The village is beautiful. We had excellent meals at the great Western Arms and a fabulous cooked breakfast in the village cafe. The village shop is so convenient and most items competitively priced. All in all a great time. Best wishes.

  • "We had a lovely stay for New Year."

We love the village. We went to the shop and they were very friendly and helpful. We ate at great Western Arms and The Crown Inn, both were superb! Very friendly and helpful. We didn't do much exploring, just relaxed and we went to Chipping Camden, Stratford-upon-Avon, and Morton in marsh. We would love to come again.

The property

Foxglove Cottage is a lovely Cotswold stone cottage in a row of traditional cottages, located close to the centre of the beautiful village of Blockley.

This inviting cottage is ideal for couples or a small family seeking a lovely base from which to explore the Cotswolds.

The quiet road leads you up to the front door of Foxglove Cottage, where you are welcomed into the open-plan living space, where you and your loved ones can lounge into the snug furniture as the room is gently lit and warmed by the woodburning stove that sits within the Cotswold stone fireplace, before you venture into the well-laid out kitchen to prepare an evening meal using the contemporary facilities, and gather round the dining table to enjoy your meal and toast to a wonderful holiday that lies ahead.

Take the conversation outside into the rear garden, and take a seat at the table set, to enjoy the last of the afternoon sun.

When night falls, wander back inside and have a relaxing soak amongst the bubbles in the bath before heading to one of the two bedrooms, both containing double beds, one on the first-floor and one on the second-floor.

Take advantage of your surroundings and explore the picturesque village of Blockley which has a country pub, The Great Western Arms, a historic Norman church, Church of St Peter and St Paul, and the popular community owned shop and café which serves delicious food during the day and hosts a couple of dinner evenings too.

Surrounded by wonderful countryside, there are many walks and cycle routes on its doorstep including The Monarch’s Way long distance walking trail which passes through the village and can be followed either north to Chipping Campden or up and over the ridge towards Moreton-in-Marsh, skirting the fringes of Batsford Arboretum which is a 56-acre garden with trees and shrubs from around the world in the plant centre and a café.

At Foxglove Cottage, you are close to the bustling market town of Stow-on-the-Wold where you can take a walk around the market square, which is the heart of the community and offers boutique shops, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants, as well as the Farmers’ Market which occurs every second Thursday of each month, featuring inviting local produce.

For a getaway to the countryside like no other, stay at Foxglove Cottage.

About the location

BLOCKLEY

Moreton-in-Marsh 3 miles; Bourton-on-the-Water 11 miles; Cheltenham 22 miles.

An ancient village once famous for its silk and corn mills, Blockley lies just 3 miles from Moreton-in-Marsh and features a unique collection of honey-coloured buildings with a pretty village green, two excellent pubs, serving hearty food and real ale, as well as a village store and café, serving dinner on a Friday night. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of the village, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way and the Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close by. Very close by, Moreton-in-Marsh boasts many elegant 18th century buildings and is home to traditional inns, tea rooms, restaurants and individual shops to suit all tastes. It also offers its own train station and lies on the intersection of the Paddington rail line from London. The town hosts the Moreton-In-Marsh Show, one of the UK's largest one-day agricultural shows, as well as the Moreton Beer Festival, an annual French Market, and a large outdoor market every Tuesday. The highest town in the Cotswolds, this ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. Close by is Bourton-on-the-Water, which lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is known as the Venice of the Cotswolds as the River Windrush runs through the centre. Also within reach is the spa town of Cheltenham, boasting an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, as well as being famous for its horseracing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within driving distance, making Blockley a great base for a Cotswolds holiday.

Note: Mobile phone reception is variable, typically being better outside the cottage than inside, and better at the top of the cottage than at the bottom.

Note: The property’s garden is enclosed, however, please note that there is a walkway behind the cottages, that provides individual garden access to cottage owners only.
