"An excellent centre for exploration of the Cotswolds (and other areas) and a wonderful base for a family holiday."
Highly recommended - and Margaret and Trevor are available, friendly and unobtrusive.

"A beautiful house, full of character and very comfortable."
We had a wonderfully relaxing week. Thanks for letting us stay.

"A beautiful old house in a small village."
We got to feel what it would be like if we owned some kind of small stately home. We had plenty of space, The kitchen was big enough to dine in most evenings and the dining room made a great table for playing games in the evening and my teenage son loved pretty much having an entire floor to himself. The living room was lovely and we could also relax in the evenings there. Facilities were great, although the only shower is up in the very top floor. I know some folks have complained about cobwebs and such and yes the it isn't spotless, but honestly if you want that kind of thing, stay in a hotel. If you want character and an old English house then this is the place for you. There are plenty of things to do all within about 30 minutes drive. If I wanted to return to the area to stay I would have no qualms about staying here again.

"Great property - we really enjoyed our stay and loved the atmosphere and would stay again."
Given the age and history you cannot expect this to be totally cobweb free. Don’t expect a lifeless Travelodge experience. It was clean and tidy, full of character and very spacious. My kids loved it and we felt very relaxed.
-
"Not clean when I went in, cobwebs on every window, snails cobwebs and dirt inside the back door to the kitchen, faeces on the downstairs and and bathroom loos, clearly not properly cleaned for months."
I should have taken photos but my first thought was that I didn't want my wife to see it and stress because this was her holiday from 24 hour care for her mum, so I cleaned and hoovered but really disappointing because we had stayed at Chapel House the previous year and it was dirty then but we thought it would be better because we messaged Sykes to make sure the it was clean. We won't be back to Chapel House and we won't use Sykes Cottages again. Such a shame.
-
"Some cobwebs, would have appreciated a dryer in the home and the house was either extremely cold or very hot; other than that the pictures don’t do it justice and the rooms were spacious!"
-
"A lovely, very spacious and unique house."
Good for us as a smaller group of three as well as having space for lots more to stay. Owners next door were very helpful and gave us a great recommendation for an evening meal at the Frocester inn.
-
"The photos do not do thus place justice, it has a serene quality, an historic feel and a calmness , lovely place and woukd not hesitate to stay again."
It needs a deep clean skirting pipes and above Aga etc but a good feather duster is a must lol... its lovely really and the only smile in the village was provided by the owner! Great house great stay even the dogs were at home despite some yappy small dog from somewhere lol

"When we turned up at Chapel House it exceeded our expectations in every way."
The house is absolutely beautiful. It has been renovated perfectly by the owners and it took my breath away when we walked round. The pictures in the advert do not do the property justice at all. The house had everything we needed for a home to home experience. The games room was a huge hit with our son who pretty much didn’t want to leave, he just wanted to play pool all day. The area is in a nice little village. There is no local, walking distance pub but there is a pub called The Frocester inn and The Old Crown which served nice food at short drive away. The street had a huge field with a fantastic park for the kids, loads of different climbing frames, zip wires etc. there was also a tennis court and a table tennis table. Thank you for a lovely week. We didn’t want to leave.

"Lovely old house with everything we needed for a comfortable week away, including a safe garden for the dog and plenty of interesting walks nearby."
Great accommodation and the owners were friendly and helpful.
-
"Fantastic venue for a scenic family break."
House is spotless and very spacious spread over three floors. Would definitely recommend and will return.

"Lovely spacious property with beautiful surroundings."

"We loved the house."
It was very well appointed, with a well equipped and excellent kitchen. Comfortable cosy beds. Perfect for a short break. As it was the first really cold weekend, we did find the lounge a bit chilly and did advance the heating at one point. That said once it had warmed up we were cosy. Loved the quirkiness as we live ourselves in a house which dates back to 17th century. Thankyou.

"Beautiful property, lovingly restored by the owners."
Everything we wanted in a place. Plenty of space. Large, comfortable beds! Pool table, table tennis and table skittles. Bed for the dog. We were a very last minute booking due to an issue with another booking company and although the owner couldn't prepare the house for the first night, they kindly had it ready early the following day. Slightly cold upstairs for my daughter due to some radiators not working in attic rooms, but the owner was aware and awaiting a plumber - but we had arrived with little notice so there was no chance to sort in advance. Certainly can't complain!

"It was a perfect home from home"
-
"Lovely property, spacious but homely and well equipped and some lovely countryside close by."
-
"We had a wonderful week at Chapel House."
The house is gorgeous with lots of character and the location was perfect for exploring the Cotswolds. Margaret and Trevor were great hosts and even returned my purse free of charge when I left it there. Thank you so much for that. I would highly recommend and would be very happy to visit again in the future.

"Really appreciated being able to experience such a beautiful home."
Thank you

"We had a lovely week."
The house was very homely, clean and well furnished, and so interesting historically. The owner was so friendly and helpful, when she popped in a couple of times we would have welcomed her company for a longer visit. We would definitely visit again.

"The property certainly exceeded our expectations."
Certainly will book again

"Lovely character property."
Spacious, well appointed and perfectly placed for a get together with friends.

"We loved Chapel House - as other reviews have stated, it is much nicer than expected from the photographs."
The property is very spacious, warm and characterful and a really good price for the size and quality. I was expecting it to be a bit draughty and chilly, especially at night, seeing as it was November and it is a such a big old house, but it was extremely cosy at all times. The bed was king size and extremely comfortable. It would be useful to have a shower in the main bathroom and there were bits missing from most of the games upstairs but we didn't use them anyway. We had a lovely break and would thoroughly recommend this property.

"We couldn’t wish for a better, more comfortable and spacious house."
It was so warm, cosy and had everything we needed (very well equipped). The location is great, close to all the places we wanted to see in Cotswolds. Our two 14y.olds have enjoyed having the whole floor / game room to themselves. The kitchen has everything you might wish for. All the rooms are gorgeous with original features and lots of character. The surrounding area is very nice and peaceful. The grounds are really well looked after, with gas BBQ, garden table and chairs, very pretty. Very happy with our choice, hope to stay there again!
-
"We thought it was a lovely property - and agree with someone else who said that it was better than the pictures on the site had led us to expect."
A great stay in a beautifully renovated character house with easy access to excellent walks and beautiful countryside in very easy driving distance.
-
"Beautiful old house with many original features."
Felt like a princess. The owner Margaret was always lovely and helpful. Easy access to surrounding countryside and beautiful villages, plenty places to see and keep you occupied. Myself and my friends would definitely stay here again. Great experience

"Lovely old quirky house, pictures don't do it justice."
-
"Beautiful character house, lovely rooms and owners were great."
-
"I have used a number of companies that facilitate self catering cottages and all have been really good however i have to say Sykes cottages seem to have gone that extra bit further."
I was updated prior to the holiday and received useful information on what I could do or see whilst on holiday. I received welcome messages on the day of arrival with useful contact information if i had any questions. Then emails on wishing me a good holiday and reminders on the procedures when leaving at the end of the holiday. Some could say that this was overbearing however it was far from it. All emails where easy to follow and very helpful and let me just worry about enjoying my holiday. I respect of the cottage it far exceeded expectations, ok not in the most picturesque places in The Cotswolds but that not the point. We needed an comfortable, safe clean and and relaxing cottage. This was spot on and with extras, there were rooms we could all stretch out in and rooms to hide away and relax and all so comfortable.
-
"Lovely quiet house that ‘gives you a hug’ as soon as you walk in."
Loads of space for 6 with the games room an added bonus.
-
"It was a wonderful house."
The best we have stayed in. The owners were very friendly but gave us all the privacy we needed. It was very clean and comfortable and the games room was an added bonus.
-
"The house is lovely and Trevor and Margaret are great people, however the village pub isn't brilliant you have to go to Forcester to get a good meal."
-
"Really could do with a shower in the main bathroom when 6 people are sharing one shower!"
Margaret the owner was lovely !
-
"The photos didn't do this lovely house justice."
Very spacious & full of old world charm. Very well equipped kichen/utility. Lovely, comfy lounge with a great dining area. Bedrooms big with plenty of storage. There was only one shower - but it was excellent. Lovely garden, only downside was the weather, it prevented us from using the BBQ!
-
"The house is beautiful and very comfortable, very peaceful with lovely walks within easy reach."
We all enjoyed the quirky style of the house and my 2 teenage children particularly enjoyed their den on the 3rd floor, equipped with a pool table, table tennis, a big tv and even their own shower room. Highly recommend this house and thank you very much to the very friendly host Margaret.

"A family reunion at a central location ."
The house was in a great location with all amenities close by and lots of exploring to do . Secure garden for dogs. The main bathroom would benefit from a shower otherwise great . Hosts were lovely .
-
"Chapel House was really first class - exceeded all our expectations & was close to everywhere in the area that we wanted to visit."
