"There is so much to like about this property; the location for getting to the town is great, the rooms - especially downstairs - are lovely and we really appreciated the Christmas decorations."
It is spoilt by what a previous reviewer called ‘niggles’; insufficient hooks for coats downstairs, no hairdryer, a random selection of glasses etc … little things that could easily be addressed. One bigger problem - a single bed that collapsed - was reported to Manor Cottages and has hopefully been dealt with.

"We were 5 ladies having a 3 night breakaway."
Very comfortable beds and lots of crockery etc, great location! There were a few things which niggled but not enough for us to not rebook again
Thank you for your lovely feedback, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Best Wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

"Everything about our stay at Birch House was amazing and exceeded our expectation."
The house was perfect for 8 adults and a baby. Plenty of space in the four bedrooms, living room and kitchen. The bathrooms were clean and spacious. The beds and sofa were comfortable. Space for 2 cars in front of the house and plenty on the side and around the house. Location was perfect for walking into town and driving to other places of interest in the Cotswold. Price for 3 nights was good given the size and location of the house. The customer service from Sykes Cottages was very reliable. They answered my query really quickly before my stay and urgently dealt with a pressure issue we had with the boiler during our stay. I would definitely recommend and stay at Birch House again on my next visit to the Cotswold.
Thank you for your lovely feedback, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Birch House and glad to hear that queries and pressure issue got resolved quickly . We shall look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Best Wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

"No hair dryer"

"We couldn’t figure out lighting the stove and had to buy a lighter from the store to ignite it."
The dryer was not easy to access because of the clutter in the room. The fuse tripped, turning off all of the upstairs lights. That was fixed with a call to maintenance. One morning, the water was not heated. That said, the beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were equipped. The kitchen was stocked. The location was perfect. Parking locations were unclear so we guessed and parked north of the building with others. The snacks were appreciated. A hair dryer would be nice. The food recommendations were appreciated. We loved our stay in the Cotswolds.

"The coffee maker was very old and broken."
No cheese grater and most of the bowls and plates had cracked glaze so they were grey rather than white. The information booklet was out of date. The dinning chairs were very hard with no cushions. But the beds were great and the bathrooms also. It was warm and in a great location. Nice large kitchen diner and nice lounge although the tv was limited. We really liked it but a little refresh would be nice.

"We stayed at Birch house for a few nights to kick start Christmas."
Having stayed in Stow before, we knew the area well and we were pleased to find that Birch House was perfectly situated for 4 adults, 1 child and a dog. There was plenty of space for us all to relax and enjoy ourselves, with just a short walk to the centre to enjoy the many shops, pubs and restaurants. The weather held up for us mostly, although it was very windy on two of the nights, and there was a repeated loud bang on the roof above our bedroom. Not sure at all what this was but thought it worth mentioning so the owner can take a look. We cooked a lovely roast dinner on the Sunday, taking advantage on the good sized kitchen and dining room table. However, we couldn't seem to find any oven gloves, which made it difficult to get things out of the oven. Apart from this, it was a very enjoyable stay and we look forward to visiting again in the future!
Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Birch House. It's lovely to hear the house worked for your family and it is in a lovely location to see everything locally. Did you get a chance to go to Adam Henson's Farm, it's just down the road and the kids would love it!. Thank you for the tip ref the oven gloves, we will make sure the Housekeeper leave them out in an easily accessible place going forward. We hope to welcome your family and furry friend back in the near future. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

"The house was in a very good position in the town only a few minutes walk and you were right in the heart of Stow in the Wold."
It was also very easy to get to round the local area . Easy parking for three cars . The house was very equipped for 8 people and it was great to be able to take our two dogs. The kitchen was large and it allowed us to have lovely family meals all together, The bedroom were large and it had three good size bathrooms. Also the lounge had three good size sofas I would recommend this house for large groups to visit the lovely local area

About the location
STOW-ON-THE-WOLD
Bourton-on-the-Water 4 miles; Stratford upon Avon 15 miles.
The highest town in the Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises olde worlde England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly Farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antique shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of Stow, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way, Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close to the town. Bourton-on-the-Water, known as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds' as the River Windrush runs through the centre, lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of the most popular Cotswold villages. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are all within easy reach and make a great day out. Cheltenham (20 miles away) is, architecturally, the most complete regency town in England. A spa town with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse-racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. At other times of year, it is host to literature, jazz, classical music, science and food and drink festivals. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called 'The City of Dreaming Spires’ has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within easy reach, making Stow-on-the-Wold an ideal base.
