  • "The property is very nice our stay was our first in the Cotswolds, the location was excellent, stow is very nice."

The apartment is spacious and was very clean. The downside, the porch when you go into the building suffered from being wet and damp, this caused a horrible smell of dampness and caused the apartment to have a fusty smell throughout, this lets the apartment down and caused us to feel disappointed, one of the windows also let in water,it is possible all the excess water going into the property could be caused by the gutter outside dripping in places. I would definitely recommend the apartment and stay again if I knew these problems were resolved.

Thank you for your feedback and pleased to hear you enjoyed The Apartment and The Cotswolds. Unfortunately, due to inclement and excessive rain water has accessed the property. This is being adressed and we are looking in to replacing the front door in the near future. We hope to welcome you back one day. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

Parking was across the square but you could park nearer to unload, although not outside the property Our Honda Jazz just fitted the parking place. The wardrobe was full of bed linen so no hanging space. Otherwise it was very well equipped and we had an enjoyable stay.

  • "Delightful apartment."

extremely well located. We were very comfortable. If you are tall you really need to be wary going in and out of the bedroom area as the ceiling is very low.Fortunately I am only 5'2" so could pass through without ducking my head but an inch taller and you will bang your head if you don't ! All very clean on arrival Coffee and biscuits were a nice touch when we arrived. And very welcome after a long drive. In addition to the nice fluffy white towels, small basics welcome too such as Toilet paper Washing up liquid Tea towels Salt and pepper etc Be aware that as you unload your car you will be blocking the narrow road which is used frequently due to a one way system around the town so you need to either unpack your car fairly quickly or park just around the corner to unload.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at The Apartment in Stow. We are so pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and in such a wonderful location. It's lovely to be able to walk to all the Shops and Restaurants in Stow from your door. We would love to welcome you again in the future for another stay. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

This was reported to Anny (shop worker below). This is our second visit this year to this apartment. We love the apartment, but very unlucky when visiting Stow. The first time was the horse fair, were all the pubs/restaurants closed and we came home early and this time major road works on the A429 and couldn't leave Stow. We hope to be third time lucky, but unable to book the empty slots at the end of July.

Very comfortable location. Tall folks be careful as there are some low entries, but all part of the charm of the old building. Only suggestion would be a shelf in shower for bathing supplies.

  • "I already sent you all per email, here again, I will be difficult to give a good rating as my satisfaction was not the best."

I arrived Friday 9th February at 10 PM and there was no toilet paper. So Saturday I called and report this and that there was nothing cleaning utensils in the kitchen, sponge, cloth and fairy liquid. Then I called back on Monday and they did not no anything about my first call. After the second call I receive 2 toilet rolls ( not much for 10 days here for 2 people) and a small bottle with fairy liquid. When we opened the bedsofa we found a pair of men underwear and some paper, seems like they don’t clean under the sofa, see photo. The place is very nice as also Stow, but I need to send you this and see what you will answer. I would suggest to leave in the appartment some information with restaurants, pub and shops as the Indian and Chinese take way, very helpful for guests that arrive late. THERE IS NO INDICATION WHERE THE RUBBISH NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT. Many thanks and best regards Phil

All equipment - dish washer / washing machine / etc you require for a holiday supplied in the house. Proper old town house, low roofs and quaint internal stairs between rooms. Very quiet at nights. Shops, pubs, restaurants in town literally on the doorstep. Would defiantly return at some stage. Could a cloths horse be supplied to dry washed cloths

Car parking was a big issue also having to carry everything as could not park out side appartment for that reason will not stay again

Thank you for your feedback. We hope that you enjoyed your stay. The details for the allocated parking space are on the property description. We are sorry that you did not see this before booking, we try to be as transparent as possible. During peak season due to the amount of tourists that visit Stow, the on-street parking becomes limited. Best wishes, Character Cottages Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed our stay here as nice apartment."

Good location. There are two bedside lamps, only one works as there is nowhere to plug in the other one (extension lead needed) Not enough hanging space as the wardrobe is overflowing with bed linen. No information book on anything including appliances. When leaving we just did what we would normally be told at other properties with bedding etc. Parking space too small, I have a VW Polo it just fitted on but I wasn’t comfortable as no manoeuvre room without worrying about hitting posts on one side or church pillar that stuck out on the other so parked elsewhere. A Fair came to town on Wednesday so wouldn’t have been able to use after that anyway as Road was closed. I have read some of these comments in the visitors book and online but nothing has been done to rectify.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and thank you also for bringing some issues to our attention. The dimensions of the parking space are mentioned on the website. Best wishes Character Cottages Property Owner

  • "Beautiful apartment, spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable."

Perfect location. Would definitely recommend. The listing and information provided by the agent requires changing - the on site parking is in the town and the instructions as to which one of six it is, made no sense whatsoever. We obviously parked in the wrong one as we were approached by a local lady who told us we were in her space that she paid for. Contacted Character Cottages and spoke to someone amd was told someone would get back to me and no-one ever did. Ended up parking in the free car park next to Tesco for the rest of the week. A picture or map of the location of the parking space would make complete sense. The picture of the outside of the apartment in the listing and the instructions to get to the apartment specify its above a clothing shop and show the sign in the picture. The clothing shop and the sign are no longer there and as the properties aren't numbered it isn't easy to find, particularly if you arrive late at night as we did. The listing and instructions provided to those booking needs updating by Character Cottages.

Thank you for your feedback. The instructions for the parking have now been updated and we are arranging for a new external photo. We hope you enjoyed your stay. Best wishes Character Cottages. Property Owner

! It is in the middle of the town so easy walking to the supermarket, shops, cafés and pubs. Also lovely local walks. The front photo needs to be updated as the gentlemans outfitters is no longer there. We walked past it twice!! The parking space is very small. There is no padlock on the bollard which is permanently down. The fan in the bathroom, however, does not work so we needed to leave the bathroom window open when showering. This was managable for us but may not be for some. The entrance hall, downstairs was dripping wet at all times which isn't great. Wouldn't leave anything down there.

Location excellent although allocated parking space is tiny and could not be used. To unpack the car you have to leave car elsewhere and walk to and fro etc. ok for us but if you were older could be a problem. Stairs up to apartment are very steep. Welcome pack very disappointing compared to lots of other rentals we have used. Only milk and biscuits and a few teabags. But otherwise it ticked all the boxes and would recommend it.

  • "We loved the apartment- simply but tastefully furnished and such a good position ; quiet but right in the centre of things."

I would be happy to return there as Stow itself is so well placed for exploring The Cotswolds. One suggestion- although the apartment is only furnished for four people maximum, more than four plates, mugs , cutlery etc would be useful as they are often in the dishwasher when needed and this leads to more washing by hand than should be necessary . The car parking space , though very small , was a godsend when parking in the busy market square.

Thank you for your feedback. It's brilliant to hear that you enjoyed your stay at The Apartment and that it made a great base of operations for exploring the Cotswolds! About the location

STOW-ON-THE-WOLD

Bourton-on-the-Water 4 miles; Stratford upon Avon 15 miles.

The highest town in the Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises olde worlde England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly Farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antique shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of Stow, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way, Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close to the town. Bourton-on-the-Water, known as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds' as the River Windrush runs through the centre, lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of the most popular Cotswold villages. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are all within easy reach and make a great day out. Cheltenham (20 miles away) is, architecturally, the most complete regency town in England. A spa town with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse-racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. At other times of year, it is host to literature, jazz, classical music, science and food and drink festivals. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called 'The City of Dreaming Spires’ has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within easy reach, making Stow-on-the-Wold an ideal base.
