Well equipped, very clean and spacious for 2 people. Bed is very comfortable and we slept very well. Within easy walking distance of the local pub that serves delicious food. Lots of beautiful scenery and walks to do while here. We will return!

  • "An absolute gem of a cottage."

We recently stayed for a long weekend and was immediately bowled over by its unique and quirky upside down layout. The interior is beautifully decorated giving a real feeling of quality and luxury. It’s cosy but spacious , bright and airy and the attention to detail just wonderful. Beautifully soft bedding and fluffy towels, five star level. We loved the views to the front across the valley and with the woodlands behind it has a treehouse feel. It was so wonderfully relaxing just sitting listening to the sound of the water feature and the wind in trees. Hosts Angela & Andy really do make you feel welcome and special touches like the chilled bottle of fizz and homemade cake upon arrival set the tone for our relaxing break. We had some lovely walks and visited the Woolpack pub but when out we just wanted to get back to the lovely Spring cottage. Our favourite cottage stay. Hopefully back soon. G&J

  • "A wonderful, well equipped, and superb place to stay."

we booked last minute as we needed a well deserved escape from a very stressful six months of ill health. The moment we arrived, We were blown away. Andy + Angela welcomed us and were super fiendly and helpful. The cottage is immaculate throughout, homely and had thoughtful extra touches - the lemon drizzle cake was fantastic, the bottle of fizz was unexpected and gratefully received, and the welcome card with Angela's artwork was beautiful. The extra kitchen bits were super helpful, like kitchen roll, foil, dishwasher tablets, etc. So thank you for this! We would definitely recommend: Stroud Farmers market on a Friday/Saturday - Lots of excellent bakery businesses, butchers, grocers, and other Souvenirs. There were also so many fantastic nearby pubs to choose from. We enjoyed national trust walks and staying in listening to the rain on the cottage! Thank you so much for having us! :)

  • "Spring Cottage is an absolute gem!"

From the moment I arrived, I was in love. It’s the perfect escape for anyone seeking peace and relaxation. I booked it for a solo writing retreat and couldn’t have asked for a more inspiring setting. Whether you choose to unwind at the cottage or use it as a gateway to explore the beauty of the Cotswolds, it’s a truly idyllic spot. Andy and Angela were exceptional hosts, going above and beyond to make my stay feel extra special with their thoughtful touches. Would love to return someday!

Thank you Ameythist it was a pleasure meeting you, we are so pleased you enjoyed Spring Cottage and that it worked for your retreat. Good luck with your writing. It would be lovely to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

  • "Spring Cottage is a lovely property."

It is the cleanest, well-equipped and comfortable property that I have stopped in over many years. The owners are unobtrusive, yet friendly and on hand for anything you may need assistance with. There are walks directly from the doorstep, perfect for dog walkers (please note as mentioned in the detail) the garden is not secure. This should not be a problem for a responsible dog owner who keeps their pet under control. We enjoyed a circular walk from the cottage to Painswick and if you don’t want to walk that far take a steady stroll 10 minutes up the hill to The Woolpack for refreshments and a view. The cottage is well positioned to take a drive out each day to explore a different village/town in the Cotswolds.

Thank you Elizabeth we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay, thank you for your kind words. We hope to see you again in the future. Property Owner

  • "We had a really lovely tranquil stay in this gorgeous little cottage."

We needed the break after a stressful couple of months. The cottage is lovely, very comfortable and extremely clean, with everything you need. It’s very quiet and peaceful which was just what we needed. We live fairly close by but it was a great change of scenery. We loved the history of the cottage and it’s been renovated to a very high standard. It’s one of the best we have stayed in with Sykes, and we’ve stayed in a few around the uk. Thank you Andy and Angela for the wild flowers, bottle of fizz an extremely yummy lemon drizzle cake. We enjoyed our stay so much we have booked again.

  • "We loved our stay at Spring Cottage, it's so cute."

Angela & Andy have done a great job restoring and presenting the property in a beautiful and respectful manner. It's really comfortable with everything you might need (including a roll top bath tub which is divine!). It rained for most of the time we were there so didn't use the outside space much, but the flowers were in full bloom. The location is ideal for Stroud, Painswick (a definite must see), and 40 min drive to Burton-on-the-Water & Stow-on-the-Wold (both a must see) etc. We highly recommend the Woolpack Pub, a 10 mins walk up the hill - The food and customer service is outstanding. We also really appreciated the homemade cake, flowers and notecard showing Angela's work.

Thank you Joanne for your very kind review, it was lovely meeting you both. We hope you had a good stop over on the way home and we hope to welcome you back again some time in the future. Property Owner

  • "Angela and Andy have obviously put a lot of thought and effort into their holiday accomodation."

All fixtures and fittings were of top quality and the kitchen was very well equipped. The location is excellent for us as we are both walkers and you could access the Laurie Lee Wildlife walk straight from the house. Lovely views of buttercup filled fields from the property and the aroma of wild garlic everywhere was amazing. Only thing to note is, if you have a dog, the garden is not secure. Other than that we would highly recommend this cottage and I'm sure we will be back.

Thank you very much for your kind feedback, we are really pleased you enjoyed your stay in Spring Cottage and it was lovely meeting you both. Unfortunately with a large country garden it is extremely difficult to make it dog proof for all sizes. I have instructed Sykes to update their listing to make this clear. We look forward to seeing you again. Property Owner

  • "We absolutely loved our stay at Spring Cottage."

The place really feels like home, we didn’t want to leave! Andy and Angela have put a lot of time, effort and money into making this period property luxurious and inviting. Only being recently renovated, the cottage was super clean and fresh, and you can tell has been renovated with a lot of thought and to a very high standard. The homemade cake and bottle of fizz were a very personal touch for our New Years visit. Whilst staying we weren’t blessed with the weather but we hiked every day - we loved the Laurie Lee walk which passed right next to the cottage and had some great elevation. You must try the Woolpack for great seasonal food. We loved our stay, we just can’t wait to come back! One thing I would mention, that I feel the reviews and listing doesn’t mention is the spectacular views directly from the cottage. We were so impressed with the location and the rolling hills right in front of us, we would definitely make sure it’s included in future marketing! Thanks again for the wonderful stay! Alice and Ben

About the location

STROUD

Gloucester 9.5 miles; Cirencester 13 miles.

The town of Stroud is known as the less commercial corner of the Cotswolds, a somewhat bohemian collection of buildings, squares and lanes, tucked into the green hills which once housed countless sheep during the town’s time as the centre of the Cotswold’s woollen industry. Today, Stroud welcomes visitors to its friendly cafes, quaint bookshops, independent shops and tempting eateries. Described by Jasper Conran as the ‘Covent Garden of the Cotswolds’, Stroud has a regular farmers' market, year-round programmes of music and theatre, a thriving arts scene and a state-of-the-art cinema. For simply relaxing, Stratford Park on the edge of town offers lakeside walks, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and a museum.
