  • "Unfortunately a child knocked over and broke a bedside lamp."

the accident was dealt with very well by the staff. It was an accident and we were not made to feel that we had been careless in any way. children loved the garden and play stuff. all together a very good place to stay especially with the nearness of children's activities

Lots to do in the area, and one of the best-equipped houses we've stayed in.

  • "Caradoc was clean and has a homely feel, the kitchen is very well equipped, and there are plenty of books, games etc to entertain guests."

The rooms are spacious and it has a good combination of sleeping arrangements and bathrooms for a large group of family or friends. The large dining area where meals could be shared was a real plus. The outdoor seating area was lovely in the good weather. Good welcome pack and supply of household items, with a friendly note from the owners and a useful information folder. We really enjoyed our reunion stay and exploring parts of the Wye Valley.

Thank you for your encouraging feedback. We're glad you found the house so comfortable and accommodating. It is a beautiful part of the country and we're glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "The house was perfect, the kitchen had everything we could need and the games were both adult and children friendly."

DVDs were really good too. Garden was also well kept, unfortunately the weather was not nice enough for us to benefit much from the outside space. Great area with Tescos nearby and nice unusual shops in town. Highly recommend a visit to the Marmalade Cafe, great service, food and prices. We went there twice in our 5 days in the area. A great house for a few families to share the cost.

Thank you for your positive feedback. I'm sorry the weather was inclement but hope it didn't spoil the enjoyment of your holiday. Thank you too for the recommendation of Marmalade Cafe. We look forward to trying it out ourselves. Property Owner

  • "Overall a good space to suit our family get together."

The showers were disappointing with regards to pressure - particularly in the downstairs bathroom. There was no hot water on the morning we checked out - had to wash the dishes in cold water. Property is looking rather tired in places.

Apologies for the lack of hot water. The gas boiler has since been repaired and hot water has been re-instated. We hope to give the house a freshen up at the end of the season and deal with the inevitable wear and tear in a holiday let. I'm glad the space suited your family and hope you had a good time together. Property Owner

Beautiful area.Caradoc was ideal and worked well for us.Great kitchen and garden.Lounge slightly snug for 9 adults but ok.It could get a bit chilly in the evenings. Great stay.Would have preferred double quilts on the single beds for adults, as I do at home. One slight niggle was 5 adults using one bathroom, as it obviously wasn’t possible to be all en-suite.Need to do a time table for bathroom usage! Also it would have helped to have labels on kitchen drawers as there was so much provided. Lots of games provided to keep us occupied in the evenings. The property was lovely and clean, bar a few normal scrapes and marks.Would definitely recommend for a larger group of people.Quiet area and good parking.

Thank you for your positive feedback and recommendation. Property Owner

Some of the showers don’t have enough power to have enough power to have a proper water flow.

I'm sorry you felt cold in the house. I hope you were able to use the wood provided for the wood burning stove as that makes the sitting room nice and cosy. There is also a thermostat unit in the sitting room with instructions, as described in the welcome pack, so the heating can be boosted at any time. Property Owner

Especially grd floor bedroom with walk in shower for one person of ours with limited mobility. Well done you for useful utensils and generous crockery for catering and handy hints working the modern ovens. We hope to be back.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Caradoc we were a party of six and the property was fine for this number, I feel that it would have been cramped for ten, especially in the sitting room."

The kitchen would benefit from a few more plates and sharper knives and oven trays being cleaned or replaced. The dinning room and game selection was perfect. Bedrooms were beautiful, unfortunately the en suite floor was very creaky.

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at Caradoc. Thank you for your constructive feedback. We will try to remedy the situation regarding kitchen equipment as soon as possible. Fortunately, groups of ten that have stayed at Caradoc so far have commented positively on the spaciousness of the house. I think there are enough different seating areas for it not to feel cramped though I appreciate the sitting room is 'cosy' for that number! Property Owner

  • "This house worked perfectly for our group of 5 adults and 3 children."

There were multiple living spaces so we had plenty of space to spread out. With so many people we could have felt cramped but we didn't feel that here at all. The house was very well equipped. Kids loved the games room. Bedding, towels and electrical appliances were of a very high standard. A lot of thought and effort had gone into making this property a great place to stay. We would have liked to stay for the week but this came at an extra £400 and I couldn't justify that. I think there's a disparity between start dates offered on HomeToGo website and Sykes website?

Thank you for your positive comments. I'm glad you enjoyed visiting Caradoc and found it great place to stay. I have followed up your query about the disparity of start dates on third party websites. Hopefully there will now be a clear comment in the description that the property has only Friday and Monday as changeover days, so our housekeeper has a regular schedule for cleaning. Property Owner

The size of the residence was perfect for our group of 6 adults, two teenagers and one 7 year old. Its location was great too, with two main walking routes of 15 minutes (or less) to the town of Chepstow. There was a corner shop about a five minute walk away, as well as a butcher shoppe, cafe and playground. We were very happy with our stay at Caradoc and would recommend it to others.

  • "Cannot fault Caradoc."

The house was spotless and the utility information was excellent. You would not want for anything as the house was stocked with everything you would want and cannot believe how many games, books and dvds on the property. There was a hairdryer in each of the 3 main rooms and plenty of towels and soap dispensers in every bathroom and kitchen. Also there was a welcome basket full of goodies which was most welcome. Will hopefully be back in 2024 for the races again.

  • "We had a great weekend at Caradoc."

The house was clean, spacious, very well equipped and homely. It was very frosty when we arrived but the house warmed up quickly, using the "booster" and the woodburning stove. The only issue was that some members of our party had trouble finding the house as Sedbury Lane is very long and if you enter from the wrong end you are not able to get through by car. You need the house number along with the postcode to set the SatNav in order to avoid confusion, but in the info you only get the house name. The house was perfect for a family get-together and we would be happy to return for another one in the future.

I'm so glad you had a good weekend despite the cold weather and you were able to enjoy the woodburner. I'm sorry some of your party had trouble finding the house though. Sykes should have sent you travel directions as well as the address which gives clear instructions to find Caradoc - there is no number for the house. (If any future guests have an issue, please don't hesitate to call on the mobile number provided for directions.) Property Owner

We were a family party consisting of three generations and it suited everyone; a great games room for our 11 and 9 year olds (at the top of the house), extremely clean and comfortable throughout and very spacious. • "Spacious property with plenty of facilities."

Welcome package was very informative along with a nice selection of drinks, biscuits and milk. The provision of a ground floor room with en-suite was a great bonus for one of our party who has mobility issues. Local shop was within easy walking distance. The selection of games and DVD's for all ages was an added bonus. Unfortunately local pub was not fully open and although the walk into Chepstow isn't very far it is very steep. Would certainly stay again.

Thank you for your comments and positive feedback. I'm sorry our information about the Village Inn was out of date. There's now a new wine bar in Tutshill village, but with limited opening hours https://cafeonthehilltutshill.com/ . The Boat Inn on the riverbank is great for food and drink but, as you say, the walk over the old bridge is very steep - good views though! We'd love to welcome you back to 'Caradoc' again.
