"This was my second stay."
Lovely cottage in a beautiful rural area. Whats not to like, it has everything you need. A pub round the corner with good food, a shop across the road from the pub and a short walk to the wyre forest or you can jump a bus into Bewdley or Ludlow. The cottage is lovely and has everything you need. Its off the main road with no street lights so it was very peaceful. Would highly recommend.
Thank you for your kind feedback - we are delighted that you chose to stay with us again Property Owner

"Lovely cottage in a peaceful setting."
Local shop and pub nearby. Severn valley steam railway, Ludlow Castle, Clee Hill, Arley gardens all in the area. Bridgnorth and Bewdley both worth a visit.
Thank you for your kind feedback, we are pleased you had a good holiday Property Owner

"Fridge not closing properly & needs defrosting-all food permanently covered in condensation."
Steps to bedroom inconsistent heights (against planning regs) & unstable handrail coming away from wall. Kitchen mixer tap loose. Shower room door sticks and shower cubicle has a smooth base with no rubber safety mat, seat or grab rail. No wardrobe or chest of drawers, just a narrow cupboard with wire trays on runners. Back door opens onto a metal grating, with a 12" step up to uneven concrete. Orchard Garden quite a trek & not outside as implied.Front "Garden" is a small paved area, no flowers. Did not appreciate finding hairs in the washbasin and a used toothpick plus crisps under the cushion of the grubby sofa. No smart TV as stated in the blurb.A photograph taken of the handrail shows how dangerous it is.
We are sorry to hear the property was not to our guests' liking in so many ways. Prior to this booking we received an enquiry from Sykes who contacted us to ask if an oxygen supply and equipment could be accommodated in the cottage and we agreed to this but did point out to Sykes that the property might not be suitable for the guests needs because of the steps inside and outside the property and the design of the shower room. We trust this information was conveyed to our guests before they decided to go ahead with the booking. The fridge is working correctly and the door closes as it should - we noted it was slightly out of position under the work surface. The shower room has non slip tiles on its base and is unsuitable for seating to be fitted. The Orchard Garden is a short walk away but the front patio area is immediately outside the front door and has a table and chairs in it and clematis and honeysuckle on the trellis. The cleaning concerns have been raised with our Sykes approved cleaning company (we are dispappointed to hear that a crisp and toothpick had been left) and we have also asked them to steam clean the sofa when there is a gap in the bookings. We always do a final check in the property after cleaning to make sure it is ready for guests including checking toilet and washbasin - all looked very clean although we did not unscrew the plug in the washbasin to check underneath (we noticed this had been unscrewed). The kitchen is relatively new and we have asked the fitter to come back and tighten the mixer tap. The wardrobe is small but there is additional storage located under the bed. The handrail next to the two steps up to the bedroom is checked regularly and has been tightened. Property Owner

In a very quiet part of the West Midlands central for what we wanted to see. The Severn Valley Railway and the Safare Park just a few miles away.

"The kitchen is looking a bit tired in the sink /worktop area."
The shower room is very small with barely room to turn round and the shower screen allows water to splash onto the floor. A sliding door would help with this. We had quite a few wasps appearing in the shower room and we could not see where they were getting in. Having said all that, the owners have done well fitting out the cottage with some nice touches including a DVD player, a CD player, games and books. We were met on arrival and told to ask if we needed anything
Thank you for your feedback. The kitchen is due for a makeover and this is scheduled to take place at the end of this year. The shower room is small and in order to make the very best use of the available space it was necessary to have a fixed screen rather than a sliding door. We are sorry to hear about the wasps and will investigate and address now you have made us aware of the problem. Thank you Property Owner

"Our first impression was the smell of damp,we had to buy scented candles to try and get rid of the smell ."
The lounge area was ok apart from the damp. The damp smell was particularly bad in the kitchen. The bedroom had the smallest double bed, lacked adequate storage and had mold that had been painted over on the ceiling. The shower room was far too small, despite taking extremely short showers and leaving the extractor fan on at length it was continually full of condensation. The outside seating area was dark, moss covered and far from being a patio garden. The only cottage we have ever stayed in which did not have a visitor's book, presumably because of negative feedback they have received. Despite having booked the cottage for 7 nights we left after 4. This cottage does not reflect well on your company.
Surprised and disappointed that our guests didn’t tell us they were so unhappy and denied us the opportunity to address their complaints at the time. Our welcome letter asks guests to contact us if anything isn’t as they would expect as we want all our guests to have a good experience. Less than an hour before arrival we left the property smelling fresh, clean and aired. The shower room was completely refitted last year with all new quality fittings and a new extractor fan. The bed is a standard double and the bedroom ceiling has not been painted to hide anything. Most furniture and all bedding and rugs etc is new and of good quality. There is a larger more open and sunny garden to the rear of the property which is for guests sole use during their stay. We are puzzled as none of these points have been raised by any of our other guests. Comments to ourselves in notes and cards have been complimentary and all previous feedback to Sykes indicated that expectations were met or exceeded. A Visitor’s Book has been added to capture future comments Property Owner

Peaceful surroundings with plenty of attractions, and lovely countryside on the doorstep

"The cottage was lovely and in a perfect location with a pub doing lovely food and a convenience store just around the corner."
The owners were very nice and friendly. The cottage is a perfect size for two people and had everything you need in it and had a very private garden at the front with a lovely area to wander in at the back The only note I would make is that the bathroom door could do with some full frosting as you are a bit exposed when you're in there but otherwise everything was perfect

The property
Nestled down a quiet, rural lane on the fringes of the Wyre Forest National Nature Reserve, The Old Stable is a charming property, attached to the owner's home.
Well-suited for couples looking to share a break in the Worcestershire countryside, this property offers a cosy feel inside and a lovely outdoor space for soaking up the natural ambiance.
Choose to explore all the area has to offer, with abundant walking trails and cycling routes for those who love being outdoors, then return to unwind in the living room with a good book.
Curl up on the sofa on a cold winter's night and feel the warmth from the fire keeping your feet nice and toasty as you sip a hot beverage and choose your favourite TV programmes to watch.
Dine over a bottle of delicious wine at the table, set in one corner of the room, as you tuck into a hearty meal cooked up from the kitchen next door.
At the end of a pleasant evening in, retire to the double bedroom, which is accompanied by a well-appointed shower room across the livingroom.
Warm summer days will invite you out into your very own small patio garden in front of the property.
Alternatively, you can sit in the owner's orchard garden and admire the views.
The owners also keep horses and sheep and are happy for you to bring along your own horse if you wish (subject to separate arrangements with owner), or bikes to stow away in the lockable bike storage outside.
This is a great area for walking and being outdoors, with attractions such as Go Ape and the Wyre Forest Centre, while the West Midlands Safari Park and rides along the Severn Valley Railway also make fantastic days out.
The delightful market town of Bewdley is worth a visit, while the city of Worcester rests further afield, both offering plenty to see and do.
