"We loved the holiday annex and wish we could have stayed for longer."
Very comfortable home. Kitchen really well equipped (even with a coffee maker). Great views.
-
"Lovely house with lovely garden and lovely owners."
Couldn’t expect anything more for a holiday stay. Very generous 2 bottles wine, homemade cake and milk left for us.
-
"More crookery required, especially if not going out for meals."
Very comfortable and thoughtful owners.

"The place is fantastic."
We absolutely loved it. The location is fantastic with the forest accessible from baptist way and so many things to do. There is plenty to explore in the surrounding area. Also the local pub 'hearts of oak' in drybrook is lovely and only a 15 minute walk away. Although you are in the same grounds as the owner they're absolutely lovely and not at all intrusive. We had a great time and we would recommend the annexe to anyone. Also our kids thought the electric reclining chairs were the greatest thing ever.
-
"A very clean and tidy property a short stroll from lovely forest walks and a short drive to all the attractions of the area including the Wye Valley."
The Annexe had everything we could need in terms of facilities and the friendly owners were on hand with help and advice when needed. Everything in the property worked perfectly and the dogs were made to feel just as welcome as the humans! We'd recommend the Annexe to anyone.

"This property and more importantly, its owners far exceeded our expectations."
… Jane and Alan proved to be excellent hosts. A welcome pack of wine and homemade cake and milk was a pleasant surprise. The annex was spotlessly clean and more than adequately furnished with every possible detail addressed right down torches in bedside cabinets and dog towels in the ground floor back lobby. Walks for our two Scottie dogs were quite literally just across the road with walks past the Baptist Chapel giving immediate access to the forest. Strongly recommended for those who love nature and a peaceful environment Margaret, Chris, Isla and Skye

"The house was lovely and comfortable."
Very dog friendly too. The friendly owners next door were always on hand to answer any questions. A perfect base for exploring the Forest of Dean.

"We absolutely loved our stay in The Annexe."
Came for 4 nights with just me, 2 teenagers and the dog in a fairly rainy week, so was slightly nervous about keeping them all entertained and happy - but needn't have worried! The house was immaculately clean (and I mean, totally, utterly, spotless clean) and we couldn't have asked for better, more modern and comfortable facilities (my first time cooking on an induction hob - worked a treat!!). The lovely owners even provided us with a home-baked cake and cookies - they didn't last long with the teenagers in the house! Wi-Fi had a super strong signal, so we were able to stream movies, play games on our devices etc with no problems (essential with 2 teenagers in tow!). Plenty of piping hot water for showers or a bath, too. The beautiful but also wildlife-friendly garden and views from The Annexe were magnificent - I had a real stinker of a cold on our holiday, so spent a lot of time happily sat in the reclining lounge chairs reading and watching the birds coming to the feeders out the window. The location was perfect for a big range of activities too - we went to Go Ape, Goodrich Castle, Symonds Yat and the Taurus Crafts shops & cafe, but saw many other places we would've loved to explore if we'd had a longer stay. All were dog-friendly and lovely places to go (essential as my dog has separation anxiety so has to come everywhere with me). We loved our break in The Annexe and couldn't recommend it more highly as a place to stay.

"This is an excellent cottage, in very good repair and well equipped and furnished - no subsided sofas here, unlike many Sykes' cottages!"
-
"We had a lovely stay at the annex, a lovely clean, comfortable and well equipped accommodation."
Hosts Alan and Jane, made us feel really welcome , lovely treats left for our stay and really enjoyed the use of the summer house. Would highly recommend! Many places to go, that weren't too far to travel.

"The owners could not have been kinder."
Came out in the rain to guide us in when we were lost. Wine and cake awaiting our arrival. The cottage was super cosy and very clean and well equipped. Lots of lovely doggie walkies around. We loved our stay
-
"The Annex was just as described, clean, well equipped, comfortable and the owners were friendly, helpful and very informative about the local area."
The surrounding area was beautiful, autumn colours and the local walks were great and on the door step. Plenty of areas to visit and explore.
-
"Can't fault the property in any way."
Jane and Alan extremely helpful with knowledge of local walks. A great base for exploring the Forest of Dean. Everything we needed for a really comfortable stay. Thank you both.

"Very clean, comfortable and well-equipped cottage in a great location for exploring the Forest of Dean."

"Alan and Jane made it a real home from home."
It was the most time we actually spent in the holiday property for years, which says it all. Great hosts, beautiful area, 5 star accommodation virtually on our doorstep. We are already planning an autumn trip, a perfect dog walking holiday.
-
"This was my second stay at the Annex, the property was very clean and warm."
The Annex has everything that you’ll need for a stay here, I stayed for 11 nights on both occasions and the washing machine and dryer came in very handy. The location of the Annex was excellent the Forest of Dean is literally on the doorstep as well as, Gloucester 25 minutes away, and 5 minutes to Cinderford. If I’m in the area again I would definitely be booking the Annex again.

"We stayed here for four days over new year whilst visiting family."
We couldn't have asked for better, Alan and Jane made us feel very welcome indeed. They've thought of everything and little touches such as wine and homemade mince pies (absolutely delicious!) really added to our experience. The property itself is clean, comfortable and well equipped. It's the first time we've stayed anywhere with our dog and we were slightly nervous (would she settle, would she behave, what would we forget etc!), but The Annex proved to be incredibly dog-friendly. The garden is safe and secure, and there were bowls, poo bags and dog towels had we needed them. The Forest of Dean is a great place to explore with a dog and I'd recommend The Annex as a perfect base.

"What a lovely welcome, and how reassuring that the cottage is absolutely spotless, as I said reassuring in these strange pandemic times, this cottage is warm, comfortable and very well equipped."
The views are fantastic watching the sunrise and sunset. The people who own it were very friendly and welcoming, but totally unobtrusive. The lady who owns the house is very thoughtful as she kindly made me a gluten free cake being celiac . The locals were all very friendly and chatty, there are some lovely woodlands just 50yrds up the road wonderful for walking the dogs or just great for restoring your soul, I saw the buck stag several times. I loved it here it was warm quiet comfortable and as a woman on my own I felt completely safe at all times. I would recommend this place, don't hesitate to book you won't be disappointed. thank you Alan and Jane for a wonderful stay. Regards Vicky

The owners were very thoughtful and left us a delicious treat. We had a most enjoyable time and the property is well located for travelling around Gloucester.

"No pub in walking distance ,this is the one thing we always make sure we have when booking our holiday with sykes ."
Hosts were great lovly welcome gifts ,but we think on this occasion lack of communication from sykes about village facilities
-
"The Annex was exceptionally clean and well equipped."
The owners had left homemade cake, strawberries and cream, and bottles of wine for us! Even though The Annex is adjoined to the owner's house, we never felt intruded upon. The location is ideal for exploring the Forest of Dean.

"The owners were very friendly and helpful."
-
"A good location to reach the Forest of Dean and the Wye valley."
The accommodation was comfortable, well equipped and the owners were very welcoming and helpful. We really enjoyed our time there.
-
"The Annex is a beautifully presented and furnished house with lovely gardens."
It lies on the outskirts of Drybrook village but is well placed to explore the area. The friendly owners were on hand with useful information and tips about the locality and provided a very welcome cake and wine on our arrival.
