Alistair and Debbie were a pleasure to meet, as were all their 4 legged friends dogs and horses. Walking around the farm fields and yard was such a unique thing for us to do, and really enhanced our holiday. We took out a canal barge for the day in Market Harborough and also enjoyed a cruise around Rutland water. We would love to return one day.

Thankyou for the lovely cakes too Alister and Debbie. Loved my walks with the dogs chatting to Eli and William and offcourse the other lovely horses that were also in the fields. Had a bit of fun with the oven but was fine afer I mastered it etc. All in all a brilliant stay and holiday.

Everything about the cottage was perfect, although I would have liked blackout curtains in the front (facing the road) bedroom. Spotlessly clean thanks to Fliss, superb situation and beautiful horses. Mustn't forget Olive and Mabel the two black labs - really well trained. All the team were friendly and helpful and were happy to listen to our ramblings, despite being really busy! We have already booked a return visit for later this year.

It is attractively decorated, comfortable and equipped with everything we could possibly need. The underfloor heating keeps it nice and warm downstairs and it was particularly useful to have a utility room kitted out with towels for muddy paws. Dogs are not allowed upstairs but it is easy to ensure as there is a door to the stairs, which we kept closed at all times. Alistair is friendly and helpful and was always on hand to answer any questions we had. It was a lovely touch to have fresh flowers, a (very tasty) cake and a jug of milk provided to welcome us.

The owners were very friendly and helpful and we were allowed to look around the livery yard and met Eli the friendly donkey. You can book horse rides if you wish. Tea, milk and a selection of small cakes were left for us to enjoy on arrival. The cottage was clean and tidy and had everything needed for a week stay. The TV is connected to an internet device which allows viewing of BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub and catch up etc. Very handy as the ITV signal was subject to pixelation. The shower was really good and the bedrooms, clean, light, large and airy and the beds comfortable. Lovely views across the countryside and the fields containing the livery horses. The location is down a good road about a mile from the A47 so access around the area is easy. The road leads to Hallaton and Medbourne, the latter has a small and friendly village shop and post office. We had a lovely week and would recommend Stables Cottage for a restful stay and a good location for exploring the local area. During our stay we visited the Nene Valley Railway, Sacrewell Farm Park, Barnesdale Gardens, Oakham, Harringworth Viaduct, Uppingham, Woolsthorpe Manor (NT) and Lyveden (NT). All were in easy reach. As our group contained some horse enthusiasts, the location was perfect for us! The owners couldn’t have been more helpful and made us feel so welcome. The cottage was spacious and comfortable, particularly the upstairs with the large double bedrooms and large bathroom with roll top bath. Being able to watch the horses from the windows was wonderful and our Labrador enjoyed going for walks around the fields, sometimes with the owners’ lovely two dogs joining us! The children enjoyed going out to the stable yard and seeing the animals, in particular feeding the donkey! Several of us took the opportunity to have riding lessons during our stay and we enjoyed ourselves very much. It was the perfect place to get away from it all and relax in the beautiful countryside which is all around. At the end of the week we were very sad to be leaving and look forward to returning to stay again as soon as we can!

  • "Fantastic weekend away, really enjoyed our time at Stables Cottage."

Photos don't do justice how comfortable and spacious the property was. There was plenty of room for our party of 6 and 1 dog throughout. We enjoyed the personal touches throughout, including the DVDs and books available to enjoy and it very much felt like we were staying in a friend's house rather than renting. Underfloor heating downstairs was a nice perk too! Enjpyed being part of farm life, even just for a weekend, would recommend to anyone wanting to get away into the countryside. Many thanks

  • "The cottage was really lovely, spacious, clean and extremely well presented."

The owners were very, very helpful and as it was situated in a riding stable there was plenty of fields surrounding the cottage where we could walk our two dachshunds with the owners permission. Nice little touches added by the owners just made our stay even better. It is perfectly situated for travelling a short distance to rutland water, Foxton Locks and other surrounding villages. We would definitely return and also recommend this cottage to family and friends.

The owners were extremely friendly and helpful and our children thoroughly enjoyed the hack they took from the stables. There was a great view across the fields from the lounge window, whilst watching the activities in the stable yard provided interest from the kitchen window. A great place to relax.
