Well kept. Clean. Well maintained. Well stocked . Largely as described. Shower off double bedroom a little weak but OK. Car could be taken up to little gate to load and unload then parked up against the wall reserved for Longbarn bookings. Just a little confusing at first finding it off the entrance drive since the caravan place has built a new reception office a free yards down from the old one. Need to say after passing the bowling club on your left turn sharp right almost immediately to go past white cottage and the long walk for parking appears in front of you. Turn right to get into little courtyard to unload.

Very quiet, we heard no noise from the nearby Holiday park, which you can't see from the cottage. The ferry hadn't started running but we used the Park and Ride to visit Stratford-upon-Avon. A perfect location to visit the many National Trust properties nearby. A few small issues with the bin in the kitchen and plumbing, but it was lovely to have 2 ensuite bedrooms.

One thing that would be helpful would be to have some sheer curtains behind the main curtains in the master bedroom that could be drawn when the main curtains are drawn back in the mornings as you are overlooked when in the bed or dressing. Also, whilst the showers are adequate the pressure is very low so taking a shower is not much of an enjoyable experience. Overall everything was really well thought out and it was a very enjoyable stay.

Thank you for your feedback. We do appreciate recommendations and we will certainly look to getting some voile curtains in the main bedroom. We will take a look at the shower pressure also. Thank you for your kind comments. Property Owner

The cottage is very cosy but spacious. Very comfortable beds, sofas, dining chairs and outside seating. An efficient electric fire for the chilly nights was very welcome. It was well equipped, we did not want for anything extra. The location was very central for sight seeing and good shops and pub nearby. The local bowls club just a few hundred yards away was handy to be recommended to us, it offered reasonable drink prices and Sky Sports showing. Couple of minor questions were responded to very quickly by text from the owners.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are so lucky to be so well located for local amenities yet still tucked away for the peace and quiet. We do hope you will come back and stay with us at Megs Property Owner

We know from speaking to the owner that she has a housekeeper and would like to advise she either hires another or speaks to her/him.. most of the cottage was lovely and clean but the kitchen table, chairs and under the table had crumbs from a previous guests stay and on the kitchen side when I wiped it with a wet kitchen roll in the corner behind the kettle it came away black.. this was enough to send us to the shop to buy cleaning products. My husband chased our child's pencil down the side of the sofa and it was full of crumbs too.. That being said the cottage was overall the perfect location for visiting the area and we did enjoy our stay here. We met the owner and she was lovely and very helpful. With a note to the WiFi as people have had problems in the past, while we were their the owner was in the process of updating the WiFi, this was completed on our second day and once done it workes perfectly and we had no issues. I would recommend this cottage to other people, the only reason we mention the cleaning is we think the owner is being taking advantage of by the cleaner.

The location is perfect for Stratford and is within walking distance if you have no mobility issues. When we arrived the cottage had not been cleaned after the previous guests so we contacted the owner who arranged for the cleaner to visit, so we left the cottage so the cleaner could get the cottage cleaned but when we returned it was obvious that the cleaning had been rushed. The cottage is in desperate need of a thorough clean throughout as can be seen by the mould in the shower, the dust on the furniture and the general appearance. We e-mailed Sykes photos demonstrating the lack of cleanliness but have not had any response as yet. The only other issue we had was the internal doors scrapping on the floor.

Thank you for your feedback. Our sincere apologies for the cleaning issue. The last minute booking caught us out unfortunately and it slipped through our cleaning schedule. We would very much like to welcome you again and would certainly offer you a considerable discount if you do. Apologies again. Andrea Property Owner

Meg’s Cottage is lovely. All on one level apart from three steps up into one bedroom at one end. This bedroom has two single beds and was ideal for our boys. It has an en-suite shower room and hanging storage. At the other end is a double room with another en-suite shower room, with wardrobe and drawer storage. The rest of the cottage is open plan lounge, kitchen, dining room which is light, airy and well appointed. Really easy to find and to access. Next to a holiday park which has a bar and restaurant venue which had an outdoor cinema, kids play area and mini golf area. It also had a river taxi (6 people at a time) but there was often a long wait for this so we didn’t use it. Great location as it was easy to drive to Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick and surrounding areas like Bidford-on-Avon. Really quiet area too. Parking next to the cottage with a convenience store, pub and restaurants within walking distance. I would definitely recommend this cottage

It was clean, comfortable and beautifully appointed. We walked to and from Stratford a couple of times which took about 25 minutes. As we were staying here during a period of glorious weather we quite enjoyed our walks. The cottage provided an excellent base for exploring the area with local amenities only a very short walk away- we enjoyed a superb chinese takeaway from Tiddington and found the local Spar very handy for basics and so on. The Riverside venue which is located a few hundred yards away was an unexpected but lovely addition to our stay, ideal for a drink and meal. Overall we were extremely pleased with Meg's Cottage and would not hesitate to recommend to others and hopefully return to stay again in the future.

  • "Meg's Cottage is about a 20 minutes walk from Stratford on Avon and a good base from which to explore the town."

It is a very comfortable cottage in terms of beds and sofas but disappointing in other ways. From the photos of the property, I expected an open outlook but the cottage looks out on a walled courtyard and is situated on the edge of a caravan site through which you drive to reach it. Caravans can be seen from one of the bedroom windows. The kitchen while well appointed, is basically equipped. The plumbing is noisy when toilets, showers, basins or kitchen sink are used.

So glad you enjoyed your stay at our cottage. The photos of the property do show the private courtyard, which is mentioned in the description. You can see the view from the bedroom and kitchen windows in the photographs too, a view that overlooks our courtyard. We are sorry you wanted an open outlook. The property isn't part of the adjacent Riverside Caravan Park, the boundary of which is about 200 yards from it. You do drive along a private road that runs alongside the park, which is also fenced off , before turning into the private drive and courtyard for Megs Cottage and The Bolt Hole. I must say, nobody has ever said that before so I checked it out, out of curiosity. You really would have to crane your neck, at a 90 degree angle, out of an open window of the 2nd bedroom to see the perimeter fence of the caravan park that is 200 yards away. I'm not really sure what else would be needed for a 5-7 day stay in a holiday home. We have included what we can think of, but happy to add items to make a stay more comfortable, preferably at the start of a stay rather than afterwards, so we can help to make the holiday as enjoyable as we can for our guests.. Due to our proximity to the river and the land levels around the area, there is a Saniflo system that pumps waste water from the toilets, shower and sinks out to the main drainage system. The pump will make a low grumbling noise briefly when it is activated. I am afraid there is nothing we can do about that. Thank you for your comments, we aim to improve the cottages all the time. It has a peaceful, rural feel, despite being only about 20/ 25 minutes flat walk into Stratford Upon Avon. We enjoyed sitting out in the quiet garden. By the way, a parasol / awning would be advantageous. Both doors to the bedrooms would benefit from some planing to stop them scraping on the floor.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. We are going to get the bedroom doors looked at as soon as we can. We will get a parasol ready for the forthcoming sunny months Property Owner

We can recommend Aladdins Indian restaurant and the Riverside restaurant for food/drink, both of which are within walking distance. We also visited Stratford, Warwick Castle and Charlecote Park which were lovely days out and all within 15 minutes drive. The Dirty Duck pub in Stratford is well worth a visit too. We would recommend Meg's Cottage for those wanting a peaceful retreat. The owners were easily contactable for any queries and we would definitely stay in their cottage again.

  • "Lovely cottage, comfortable beds, pleasant venue and nicely provisioned accomodation."

As others have commented the wifi wasn't reliable. I would have preferred to be aware of the caravan and camping site next to the cottage when I made the booking rather than finding out when the directions arrived. Though we were not the least disturbed and heard no noise. Finally given the time of covid I was surpised to find open food items of flour, oil, and unopened juice and milk, presumably left by the previous occupants in the cupboard/fridge. I was also surprised the oven glove and kitchen towels were used and assumed the previous occupant had left them. Thankfully we had our own with us. There were also socks in a bedroom drawer. These were minor things but affected my feelings about the accomodation and made me doubt it had been properly cleaned, as did the sticky kitchen floor. I would have expected any items like this to have been removed and the floor to be cleaned.

We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay at Megs Cottage. We put our heart and soul into creating two holiday properties from a historic grade 2 agricultural barn and we are constantly looking for ways to improve the holiday experience of our guests. You have brought to our attention points that "were minor things but affected my feelings about the accommodation", therefore we would like to answer those points below. We are aware that the wifi signal is intermittent in the area, as stated on our property details. Most guests are ok with this on a relaxing break, but we are trying to find a reliable solution. There is the perimeter of a very nice managed caravan park about 200 meters away on the approach to Megs Cottage, which has never caused us any issues, especially as all you can see is a handful of well-kept static caravans. In fact you can't even see them from the holiday cottage and we are situated in a private gated courtyard. It is actually a bonus that our guests can use the caravan park's lovely riverside restaurant and bars, the laundrette as well as the very handy riverboat taxis to visit historic Stratford-upon-Avon without taking the car. We apologise for missing one pair of socks left by one of our previous guests in the back of a drawer. We will be more vigilant. Regarding the "unopened juice and milk, presumably left by the previous occupants in the cupboard/fridge", we leave a simple welcome pack of tea, coffee, sugar milk, juice and other provisions which most of our guests appreciate. We apologise if you felt the floor wasn't as clean as you would expect. We will address this with our cleaners of course. Thank you for your feedback, it helps us to improve our accommodation and the holiday experience of our future guests. Thank you for staying with us and we hope to see you again soon. Property Owner

The furnishings were nice and the sofas were comfy, and we liked the character of the property. We appreciated the 2 bathrooms, although the toilets used macerators and were very noisy. However, this is the most expensive 2 bedroomed property we have ever stayed in (presumably partly due to covid) and we felt there were some things lacking given the cost of the holiday. There were gaps at ceiling level between the 3 rooms which meant that noise travelled freely, making sleep difficult if anyone else was in the main living area. We felt there could have been more crockery as there were only 4 of a number of items. As it was the height of summer, an outdoor dining table and chairs with umbrella would have been a useful addition so that a meal could be eaten outside. As others have said the wifi was very poor, and we felt that the cleaning could have been better in some areas (eg the bedrooms which were dusty in places and had numerous spiders). Overall the space was quite small, probably better suited for a autumn/winter short break rather than a main summer holiday. Overall we have enjoyed our break and exploring the surrounding areas, in particular Warwick Castle which is only a 15 min drive away. Unfortunately the water taxi was not operating during our stay.

Thank you for your feedback. We do appreciate your comments and will carryout a full infantry of kitchenware and replace crockery and glasses.
