  • "Finding empty crisp packets in living room was not the welcome expected, a little disappointed no welcome pack, as previous visitors had said in book that they appreciated the welcome pack, but nothing."

The bath really needs a grab rail or something to help you in and out, as already requested by previous visitors. Cottage lovely, beds comfortable, lovely locations. Please be aware that the local pub sits on a very steep slope, not suitable to walk up.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave feedback following your stay. We are glad that you found the cottage lovely and comfortable and that you enjoyed the location. We are sorry to learn that you had some issues during your stay and we will raise these with housekeeping. Kind Regards, Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "What a fantastic place!"

Stunning location and a lovely, unique place to stay. My only recommendation is maybe a decent pair of oven gloves and a slightly bigger cooking dish. Overall, would 100% recommend this to anymore wanting to visit the area. We all had the most relaxing and enjoyable week. Thank you.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at The Old Cider Press. We are so pleased to hear how much you enjoyed your stay with us and thank you for the comments regarding oven gloves and a larger cooking dish, we will pass on these suggestions to the Owner. We would love to welcome you again in the future for another stay with us. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

  • "Having stayed in this beautiful cottage 3 years ago (Sept 2021) we were very disappointed on our return."

Even when we arrived the outside looked scruffy with accumulated dirt and cobwebs in the porch area, a broken pot in the garden and dirty garden chairs and table - initial presentation goes a long way! One of the guests commented in the guest book that a small welcome pack would be appreciated and I agree, particularly a fresh pint of milk and perhaps some butter. However, our main concern was the general cleanliness of the place. The last time we stayed it was spotless, so much so that I left a note for the cleaner thanking her. This time, there was dust and long hairs on the spiral staircase in the lounge, dust on the bedside lamps and the bathroom was a disgrace! It looked like it needed a really good clean. The owners will probably say they are going to update the bathroom, but that is no excuse for not cleaning the original one properly. It looked like it needed a really good deep clean. PERHAPS THEY SHOULD HIRE A NEW CLEANER WHEN THEY REFURBISH THE BATHROOM! The whole place felt grubby and when I stripped the bed at the end of our stay, the matress protector had two yellow stains so needed washing and replacing! In the one of the bedrooms the main light wasn't working and nor was the bedside lamp, which I replaced with a lamp from the second bedroom. Small things, but they need to be checked before new guests arrive. Unfortunately, due to our experience this time we will not be recommending this cottage to friends and family which is a shame because it was idyllic last time, but presentation and cleanliness are our top priorities.

Thanks so much for letting us know. It's very helpful to hear about some of the pots/crockery in particular, as with the speed of changeovers and cleaning required over our peak periods, we can't check these every stay, and on this occasion it sounded like they hadn't been left in a very clean state. We've now replaced all our saucepans and have done a deep clean too (things like the oven etc) so things are back to our usual high standards. We do think the refurb of kitchen and bathroom will bring new sparkle to the Old Cider Press but thanks again for letting us know where you felt things could have been better. Property Owner

  • "Although the Cider press is a lovely quirky cottage in a beautiful village of Stanton , it was seriously let down by being literally quite dirty when we arrived."

Dirty cups and burnt pans ( i took photos as I couldn't quite believe the state!) There were cobwebs and we were greeted with a random cloth left on the floor in the living room area. Many people have spoken about the bathroom being outdated and not too good! But obviously still no improvements despite being in this state for some time. The toilet seat is worn away in one area at least which being of wood construction I would say is a bit of a health issue? There was quite a lot of dust in the downstairs roadside bedroom too so a bit disappointing but not something that couldn't be addresses I'm sure

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry that the property was not to the expected standard we have looked in to the issues you raised and the toilet seat has been replaced and the cleanliness issues have been passed to the owner, to be raised with the housekeeper. We are pleased that you liked the cottage and the village of Stanton. We hope you enjoyed exploring the local area. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "Lovely property in a beautiful village."

Great bedrooms and lounge and kitchen. Bathroom needs some smartening up and could do with an extractor as there is no window. A teapot would have been good. A grab handle to help get into the bath for the shower would have helped.

Thank you for providing us with feedback on your stay at The Old Cider Press. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your time away and appreciate your suggestions for improvement. We will take these into full consideration and hope to welcome you again one day in the future. Best wishes, Manor Cottages. Property Owner

.. we felt at home immediately and didn't want to leave at the end of our holiday. It was perfectly situated with great access to many beautiful local attractions; Batstone Arboretum, Snowshill Manor and Cotswold Lavender to name a few; however, one of the nicest parts was just sitting in the front garden at the end of the day enjoying the last rays of sun (yes, we had sun!)

Thank you for your wonderful feedback. We are delighted to hear that you had a great stay. Best wishes, Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "The house overall could not be faulted."

Well furnished, very comfortable and everything needed was provided. Really felt guests had been carefully thought about. Only small negative was the bathroom, which perhaps needs some attention. We could not get the radiator to work, so it was very cold in there. The bathroom is the one room that needs to be warm. The shower head was too big to allow the water to flow properly with the pressure available. And lastly, the toilet seat is not so much 'soft close, more push hard! Have to emphasis, however, it was a super place and we'd happily go,back there.

Thank you for your feedback. We will pass your comments onto our Managed Services Team for them to investigate. We are glad you were pleased with the house and hope to welcome you back again. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

The kitchen towels are old and dirty looking. There was no bodywash or shampoo provided. Would be helpful to state this on the listing then guests can bring their own for sure. Front garden wasn’t tidy. The pillows were very flat. We stayed for 6 days and only one bath towel was provided per person. Two towels per person for a long stay is hygienic. Overall a lovely cottage.

We live only 20 minutes away but wanted to get away to and this fitted the bill brilliantly . The Old Cider Press is a very characterful property to stay in with its quirky snug library at the top via a spiral staircase as well as the bedrooms being on the ground floor. The local pub at the top of the hill - The Mount Inn was very good after a steep(ish) hill walk. Plus great local walking to Stanway is very scenic be via the path or road . Plus a few minutes’ drive to GWR Steam railway at Toddington as well as local shops.

  • "It would have been good to know that there were some food supplies there before we brought our own."

It would have helped to know that The Mount Inn in the village is closed on Mondays (the day of our arrival), and that booking ahead is essential, not just advised. We arrived there about 7 p.m. on Tuesday, to be told that they had no room, and booked for the following evening. As it happened, we might have had trouble returning to the cottage, as there had been a fire in a storage barn in the High Street, which was taped off, with 5 fire engines in attendance when we returned from a meal in Broadway! We were a little perturbed that there was no ventilation in the bathroom. With 4 of us having showers within a short space of time, it became very steamy! We solved the problem by leaving the bathroom and front doors open for some time afterwards, but this wouldn't be a sensible option later in the year

The kitchen continues a traditional feel, yet is fully equipped and poses sleek worktops for a quality feel.

Cook up a tasty meal and gather around the dining table in one corner of the room, before polishing off a delicious bottle of wine.

There is also an enchanting spiral staircase you can climb, for a quiet read on the mezzanine landing.
