  • "Really enjoyed our holiday that The Lane."

The house itself is beautifully secluded, but still within easy distance to Moreton-In-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold, and Chipping Norton for all the essentials. The welcome box of biscuits and crisps, as well as dog treats was a nice touch. The garden is a highlight of the house. Only minor gripes would be the driveway being a bit awkward to get in and out of, and the shower head in the upstairs bathroom and the lights in the kitchen being a bit low (though only due to my 6’5” frame!). Overall we were really happy with our stay here, and would happily return in the future.

Thank you for your feedback - we are so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at the property and appreciated the additional touches to your visit. We hope we can welcome you back to the Cotswolds soon. Kind Regards, Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "We liked the beautiful location in the countryside up a gravel lane."

Quiet, yet within easy reach of the Cotswold towns by car, and the National Trust property nearby. It's well equipped for 6 adults and we parked 3 cars in the drive, though 1 was on the slope of the drive. We were kept in good contact with emails, texts and reminders with all the details. Only being there for a long weekend we didn't need all the appliances and put some away (icemaker eg) as the worktop space was more valuable especially as there were ice packets in the freezer and a quiet wine cooler! Other appliances were put out of the way to get the cupboard space to put food away, especially with a few flies around which is only to be expected in the countryside. There's plenty of crockery, cutlery and kitchen utensils. Would be useful to put on the details that it's a charcoal BBQ! Because of the weather it did get chilly in the evenings and we should have thought to drop the blinds in the lounge to help keep it cosy because of the windows, but being so out in the countryside and not needing privacy, we didn't think to do so until the end! The garden is beautifully kept and for our family all the accessories connected to skiing and Tignes were appropriate and interesting, having stayed there a number of times! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, shame it wasn't longer!

Thank you for your feedback, it sounds like you had an amazing time at the property. Yes we are lucky to have quite a few National Trusts to visit not to far away and it's always a lovely day taking a picnic or visiting the tea rooms. We will update the details and add that the BBQ is charcoal, so thank you for letting us know this needs to be changed. We would love to welcome you all back again in the future for another stay with us. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

Great communication with both the agents and the owner of the cottage. The cottage was absolutely spotless, with everything you could possibly need included. The milk, biscuits and chocolate truffles were very welcome after a long journey. Would highly recommend, and we will definitely return.

  • "A pleasant picturesque Cotswold cottage in a rural location with a farm at the end of the lane and cockerels crowing from dawn to dusk."

It is a great location to explore the Cotswolds. There are a few footpaths and bridleways close by too. We used Moreton in Marsh for takeaways, Stow and Stratford for food shopping. The nearest pub was a mile away which we walked to one sunny evening and had a fine meal there. The cottage is generally spacious with the kitchen being on the small side and quite cluttered. You have to move the 3 bins (not shown in the pictures) around to get into the freezer or out of the back door and there isn’t much space for food storage but otherwise well equipped. The wine cooler is very noisy as mentioned by others but can be turned off after a bit of searching for the on/off. We struggled to get the TV to work though. Even the younger, tech savvy adults couldn’t get it to turn on. Not a big problem though as we were only catching up on Springwatch so used our phones. Wifi is superbly fast but little or no phone signal for us. The cottage was clean but did smell of dog when we arrived which would be ok if you like dog smells. On our stay in early June there were cold north easterly winds and cold nights and the single glazed, metal framed windows were quite poor at keeping the draughts out and so it was chilly inside even with some heating. When the sun was out though it was nice to have lunch on the terrace courtyard. The sun is lost from the garden mid afternoon in early June but if warm enough would be nice to have dinner there too. The drive isn’t as big as it looks in the pictures and we found it tight to get in an out of onto the unmade lane but my car has a poor turning circle which didn’t help. We visit the Cotswolds every year usually staying elsewhere and autumn time and so this was a new place and time of year for us and was a pleasant place to stay.

Thank you for your feedback. We are please that you enjoyed your stay. This property is managed and if you had of called we would have been able to help with this issues experienced. Best wishes, Character Cottages Property Owner

  • "The water softener also delivered the cold water in the kitchen so there was nowhere to get non-softened drinking water."

I have a softener myself and you normally have a drinking water tap installed. This meant the water tasted awful to drink. Ended up buying bottled water to drink and for the kettle because it made coffee taster nasty as well. The wine cooler fridge is very noisy. It can be heard upstairs all night which is a shame in such a quiet peaceful setting. No way of switching it off either. Otherwise it was a lovely stay, great cottage, well positioned to explore the Cotswolds. Beds super comfy, lovely dog secure garden. Would certainly stay again.

Thank you for taking time to leave feedback. Sorry to hear the issue with non drinking water. Totally appreciate your comments and we will of course look into a solution for this. With regards to the wine cooler being noisy, we have investigated this and it was the boiler which has now been rectified. Apologies if this inconvenienced your stay. So pleased you found the rest of the property lovely including the garden. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Best Wishes Character Cottages Property Owner

  • "Very spacious and comfortable house for 6 people."

Very well equipped especially in the kitchen, and the supply of herbs/oil/foil/clingfilm etc is really helpful. The WiFi is very good, but there is virtually no phone signal The location is beautifully quiet but within easy reach of all local facilities and Cotswold honeypot spots. The only downsides are while parking is fine for 2 cars getting a third one in is tricky and it has to block the other 2 and the illuminated light switches mean that the bedrooms are never totally dark. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend 1 The Lanes Chastleton as a really good holiday option

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and felt comfortable and well catered for. Mobile phone reception is not always as good in rural locations as in cities and cannot be guaranteed. The property benefits from a larger than average driveway, compared to many other Cotswold properties. we are pleased that you were able to benefit from all the local area has to offer. and hope to welcome you back again. • "Had a lovely short break at the cottage."

Pretty garden, spotlessly clean and comfortable .The owner was fantastic for local info and any questions we had. Kitchen was full of gadgets but only negative was no free cupboard space for our own food. The ground floor double room was a little tight, would be more suited as a single room and then a wardrobe could be added. Unfortunately, the ensuite shower was too hot to use, think the mixer was faulty. Overall a lovely cottage and would highly recommend a stay.

  • "We were extremely disappointed by the fact we couldn’t access the property until 6pm, especially as the guidebook in the cottage said check in was 4pm."

The garden space was lovely, so quiet and secluded. Kitchen facilities were fantastic but would have been good to have an empty cupboard to store our food in. The hot water was only really lukewarm and seemed to take a long time to warm up. We found only one person could have a shower at a time as the upstairs shower had no water whatsoever when someone was in the en-suite downstairs, which isn’t useful when six people are staying. The mattress in the smaller bedroom upstairs was very soft and could probably do with being replaced. There was a slight smell of dog in the kitchen when we arrived and we noticed some hairs on the sofa.

Thank You for your feedback - We take your feedback seriously and I agree 6pm is too late. We have asked the Agency to change this to 4pm. We are very glad you liked the cottage and garden and also the kitchen facilities. There is free cupboard space in the pull out drawer to the left of the hob. As you can appreciate we wanted as many facilities as we could have for our guests. There was a pet staying before you arrived - We thought cleaning had been done properly, please do accept our apologies. We'll check your other issues. We noticed that our sofa throws had been used outside which was a shame and then placed in the dog basket we have available for guests with pets. So we shall address that as well. Property Owner

The house was spacious and met the needs of us all. My dad has mobility problems but there was plenty of space here for him to get around and the downstairs bedroom/bathroom were perfect for him. My children (3 and 5) loved exploring the house and the beautiful garden. The lawn at the top of the garden meant they also had room to play ball games and run around. It is a perfect place to take a pet, with lots of treats and even a ball left for the dog. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the beautiful house and peaceful surroundings and can’t recommend it enough.
