The cabin was perfect and everything you would need has been thought of. It’s a beautiful, peaceful place. It’s very easy to get to Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon from Chacombe. Brendan was lovely and answered a couple of queries we had really quickly. We felt very well looked after and are planning to revisit next year for a longer stay.

On arrival we were met by brendan, who i think was the owner, who drove us to our lodge with our luggage in a covered cart. The lodge was stunning, very secluded and quiet. The facilites were over and above what was required and the location, right on the waters edge on a secured pontoon was sooo relaxing. We had a daily visitor who remained with us even though we sat next to her, the resident female duck. She even came to say goodbye. Visiting bicester village is a must and is only about 20 mins drive away. Upton park and manor is lovely too. The alpacas on the way to the pub are amusing with their hair cuts. In all a lovely relaxing time away in a beautiful location and the owners the jenkins family are very lovely people. Thank you for a lovely time.

  • "Fantastic place and what a brilliant idea Brendan had !"

I have already recommended to people we had an amazing time. If I could criticise anything it would be having to buy additional logs to keep the hot tub useable. The reason for booking this venue was because of the hot tub as well as other things and the cost to stay in these type of venues is because of the hot tub so we felt that we couldn’t use the tub when we wanted because we had to heat it first. We feel that the logs should be provided as part of the stay and there shouldn’t be a charge to be able to use it. It was still lovely and relaxing nonetheless! Next time we may book the tunnel as that looks fantastic !

Hi Sharron Thank you for your feedback - we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and we hope to see you again soon! Regarding the hot tub - the cost of the wood to initially bring the hot tub to temperature is included in the price of a stay with us. We use this to heat the hot tub prior to our guests arrival so it can be used straight away, as it takes several hours to reach temperature. The only cost incurred is for the wood to then keep the hot tub to temperature - for this we sell logs on site, or our guests are always welcome to bring their own. If we didn't charge for the additional wood it would mean increasing our prices - this way it keeps our prices down for those who don't wish to use the hot tub or fire pit. Property Owner

Underfloor heating means no cold nights and mornings like other lodges, high quality mattresses, linens, towels and robes made our stay very comfortable. We live in Banbury, we were surprised that such a beautiful place is 7 minutes by car from our house ☺️. If you need peace and quiet so this is the place for you. We work as Area Managers on a daily basis so for us the best holiday is, a holiday away from the people. Everything was ready on time, there was a hot tub waiting for us, the standard was very good. The cottage was perfectly clean, the hot tub too. Although the cottages are not far from each other, you have complete privacy. Every morning the duck was already waiting for oatmeal

Only negative we’d have is the lack of basic kitchen things (salt, pepper, oil) The other thing is that the man asked if we wanted him to get the hot tub ready for us when we arrive, which we said yes to. Then when it came to getting in that evening, it was very hot. He had told us to stir it and it will cool down but it just heated up when we stirred it. Was at about 48 degrees which was unbearable for more than 5 minutes Besides that everything was well kept and very tidy for us, and we really enjoyed our stay.

We had no faults with any of the property and loved everything about it! We were worried at first that the cars weren’t parking outside the lodges as I had ridiculously overpacked but we were met at the car park with a golf buggy to bring all our stuff down which was incredibly helpful. The hot tub was so easy to use and reheat and was really nice - only fault was that there was no gazebo above the lodge we were in however we did mention this and they said they’re in the process of getting the hot tubs covered within all lodges! All the facilities were so easy to use and we absolutely loved our stay. The only issue we did have was with the about of bugs would get into the property during the evening so it’s best to keep the doors closed but this only happened at times we were having dinner outside or setting the hot tub up. Would 100% recommend to anyone wanting a few nights away with their partner!

  • "Everything was great prior to arrival, communications were clear and easy to follow."

Once we arrived, Brendan helped us with our bags and had the hot tub warmed up and ready to go. The lake is lovely, the scenery is great and everything about the setting is so peaceful and relaxing. However, despite how private we thought our time would be (the Oak Lodge isn’t overlooked by the other lodges), we did have issues. As we thought we were in a position where no one could see into our lodge, we saw no issue in leaving the blinds open during the daytime. These lodges are aimed at couples – no children and no pets are allowed – so it’s unsurprising to assume that couples will want to “enjoy” their time together, so to speak, and be left undisturbed. This wasn’t the case. Twice we just happened to see Brendan walk onto the decking – from where there is a clear view inside – head around to the hot tub and place a tablet inside (for cleaning, presumably). The first time this happened, he knocked on the side of the lodge, but walked on before we could answer. The second he didn’t even knock. Fortunately, on the first occasion, we just happened to be sat relaxing. The second time we were naked. Luckily the blinds were closed just enough that he didn’t see anything (we hope), however the hot tub is directly next to the lodge – and the lodge is not soundproofed. He could have heard anything. We were fortunate that we just happened to see him cross the decking through a gap in the blinds. He had our number, so we don’t see why he couldn’t have messaged us asking if it was okay to come round and see to the hot tub. We don’t think he realised this was inappropriate, but it was unsettling and ruined what otherwise would have been a nice stay.

Thank you for your feedback. As part of our duty of care we must check the hot tubs daily. This check is mentioned when we meet guests on arrival. We aim to carry this check out between 11am - 6pm and as discretely as we can. However, we take on board your comments and with immediate effect we will look to discuss with all new guests how they wish us to notify them of the timings of these daily checks. We take our guests privacy seriously and we are very sorry to read that this hasn’t been your experience when you stayed with us. Property Owner

The lodge was modern and had everything we needed for our stay. It was so clean as well! The only down side for us is that there was no shop within walking distance, but this is no fault of Bridge lake farm. Only other thing I’d say is that for the amount of money you pay, you can’t get in the lodge until 4pm and have to check out by 10am, so you only really have 1 full day but apart from that, I would definitely recommend to stay here for a relaxing and peaceful get away.

The lodge was beautiful and had all the facilities we could have hoped for (and also nice and modern). We had a lovely decking area with a wood fired hot tub (already pre-lit and at the perfect temperature ahead of our arrival), a fire pit and table and chairs covered by a gazebo in case of bad weather. The decking overlooked a clear fishing lake with plenty fish and all in all the lodge and scenery was as tranquil as can be! When we left the grounds to visit the local village, it was a 10 minute walk to the local pub (The Green Dragon) which had fantastic food and feel to it. Not to mention we were greeted on each walk by the friendly alpaca’s just outside of the Bridge Lake entrance who allowed us to feed and pet them. Upon checking out a lovely gentleman came by with a good caddy to take us and all of our belongings up to our car ready to leave which was a really nice touch! The sky was wonderfully clear and the lake was so quiet even with other occupants dotted about. My only suggestions are nicer linen on the bed, and potentially more privacy for the hot tubs. The path that leads down to the lake has pretty clear views of the hot tubs at each cabin which, especially at night, can be pretty invasive with people returning from the pub.

The lodge was very well done, a lot of thought must have gone in it. It is not big but ideal to relax in. It is all very clean and offering all one needs. The location is very quiet. The wildlife is great. It was great to sit outside and let the world go by. The fishing was very good. They loved the sweetcorn, as I cought many, from small to big. It was great to relax in the hot tub, with a glass of wine, and watch nature. We do highly recommend it. We will be back. Brendon from Bridge Lake Farm is very kind, helpfull and friendly. He made us feel very welcome.

On a personal level we found the lodge very cramped but otherwise can't fault the whole experience.

  • "What an amazing week!"

Greeted by the owner on arrival and taken down to the lodge with our bags. Very peaceful and private location and close to supermarkets etc. Only 25 minutes from Bicester Village also which was a bonus. I would recommend the Oak Lodge to anyone and will definitely book again (will probably bring our own logs for the hot tub next time though as they were quite expensive and only lasted a couple of days). Still for the convenience of having them dropped at the lodge within minutes of requesting it is worth it if you don't take your own. Thanks again for a fantastic relaxing week away

Little things would exceed expectations a little more like providing coffee and tea sachets or a breakfast package for an additional fee! But it’s still 10/10!

We stayed in Oak Lodge and upon arrival all information was clearly emailed over to us to make it as easy and possible, we also got all our bags out the car and to our surprise the owner came over, helped us load them onto his buggy, and gave us a lift down to our lodge!
