  • "A huge thank you to the hosts for creating such a secluded and peaceful escape from everyday life."

We went to Dragonfly with intentions of walking, site seeing, visiting various locations and it all went out the window on day one because of how peaceful this location is. It truly is cosy cabin vibes all over. The log fire and hot tub are brilliant and really add to that touch of luxury. We took our Labrador who is trained not to run off, probably the only thing to consider if you’re bringing a pet is the lake, the sheep and your dogs recall. Given it’s a pet friendly cabin it’s so clean, no dog hair etc. The description is very clear that you have to make a small walk through a field, bare this in mind for footwear some walking boots or wellies wouldn’t go amiss in the winter months but isn’t a issue and in our opinion add to the whole secret cabin vibe. All the basics available for cooking pots and pans etc, although we bring our own when it a listing is self-catering. Thank you for making our first wedding anniversary perfect.

Wanted to just relax and do nothing and de stress from my day to day stuff. Having a poor phone signal in the immediaate vicinity was a plus for me . Bed although comfy squeaked every time you moved maybe some WD40 needed . But we had the relaxing break that was needed

  • "Dragonfly was set in an amazing area."

Peaceful and relaxing. Good location with amenities nearby. Loved the whole place. Observations ..... Bathroom needed some attention. EG no shaving mirror or 2 pin shaving plug. No clothes hangers or space to hang anything. Not being able to empty rubbish or recycle and store the bin in the cabin all week was unpleasant.

  • "The most beautiful lakeside property!"

We stayed after our wedding and the calm and quiet was exactly what we needed. Sitting by the lake or inside; both were perfect. We were glad that we started the hot tub fire at 11 as it did take a long time to heat up (4-5 hours) but that just gave us more time to enjoy watching the lake. We would love to come back and actually see the surrounding area, but that’s for next time!

Thank you so much for your lovely words, and many congratulations on your marriage. We’d love to see you again. Property Owner

  • "Lovely little getaway, the dragonfly cabin was super cosy and inviting."

Nice to just relax in the evenings listening to nature and the crackling log fire. The cabin had everything we needed. Thank you for supplying bug spray, came in very handy! Only let down was the access to the cabin via a small field which during a rainy April week was extremely muddy and boggy, we ended up losing 2 pairs of shoes. Access could be improved. Other than that, all was good. The host was very friendly and helpful, and her 3 little dogs that came to visit us were so sweet!

  • "The Dragonfly Lodge is an absolutely beautiful place to stay."

It is private, secluded and scenic - really peaceful with the only real sound coming from all the wildlife. We stayed for my other half’s birthday and it was exactly as the listing states. It does have to be accessed via a farm track which then leads on to a field of sheep you have to walk across. Just be mindful that the ground can be uneven in parts so watch your step! The sheep are lovely and do not bother you. As it is so secluded there’s no lighting but the owner kindly provides a torch should you wish to venture out once the sun goes down. They also provide a luggage trolley which was extremely helpful for all our bags. The owner Elinor is always on hand if you need anything. The lodge itself is beautiful - well looked after. Linen and towels provided but we also brought our own towels for the hot tub. all the furniture is very comfortable and fits in well with the decor. The owner kindly left us some fresh eggs and a jar of honey as well, which was a lovely touch. The hot tub is so relaxing and really easy to heat up via the wood burner to your desired temperature. It’s a perfect place to sit and watch the sun go down before returning inside to sit by the cosy wood burner in the living room. The wildlife was a real highlight - we saw swans and coots enjoying the water with their families/babies. It’s an ideal place to be at one with nature. You have a whole patch of the lake to yourself that is not overlooked by the other lodges which was perfect. There are lots of trails for you to go for a walk and plenty of information on those in the welcome book. We went to Draycote Water on one of the days and did the wildlife trail which we would definitely recommend. We finished it off in the evening by visiting The Dun Cow pub in Dunchurch where we had a fabulous meal - would highly recommend visiting there. We loved every minute and can’t wait to come back! Thank you Elinor

  • "What a wonderful place."

I stayed four glorious nights in Dragonfly. There are two other cabins on the lake but from Dragonfly you can neither see them or hear them. The cabin is beautifully made with everything you might need, loads of comfy places to sit both in and outside and admire the stunning surroundings. The lake is teeming with life, I watched coots, swans and cygnets, damselflies, dragonflies, bats, butterflies, trout and more. The wood-fired hot tub is worth waiting for, it’s such a treat to sit there taking in the views. Will and Elinor were warm and welcoming whenever I saw them. The trolley is a great idea to carry your stuff across the field to the cabin. I would love to return. It has the feeling of isolation I wanted but with great Wi-Fi and facilities only a few minutes drive away if needed.
