  • "Such a beautiful place to stay."

We were all very comfortable and cosy. There was a lovely welcome pack on arrival which included bread, jams, milk (unfortunately out of date but appreciate the gesture), local delicacies. There is ample loo roll and hand wash in the cottage for future reference. Really well stocked kitchen with dishwasher (tablets provided), washing up liquid, kitchen roll etc. The under floor heating was amazing and we didn't feel cold enough to light the fire unfortunately! All in all, we would highly recommend this beautiful cottage in Pebworth.

  • "The cottage is located in a quiet pretty village."

A bonus was that the friendly pub opened 3 months ago for drinking, darts, pool, skittles etc but currently no food available. Our 5yr old grandson rated the village play area as one of the best he has been on. Plenty to see and do in the surrounding area, from Stratford to Diddly Squat. We found the cottage to be clean and warm with a high standard of equipment in the kitchen and an excellent welcome hamper. We would very much recommend an upgrade to crockery and cutlery. A two course meal involves washing dishes or cutlery between courses so a 3 course meal would have been very stressful. There was a lack of serving spoons. The crockery was tired (chipped with cracked glaze). The cracked glaze absorbs water in the dish washer which oozes out when things are warmed in the microwave. The shortage of cutlery and crockery meant we had to put the dishwasher on after every meal even if it was not full. More c&c would save on fuel bills. The frying pans also need replacing.

Hi Janet many thanks for the feedback, we really do appreciate it. We have now replaced the crockery, all the pans and the frying pans and added to the cutlery and serving spoons Property Owner

  • "Good base for looking around Cotswolds."

Info on Sykes web site needs updating about where key box is and what to do with keys on leaving, as they are different to details given by owner. Cleanliness was an issue, (Don't know who cleans, owner or Sykes staff). Shard glass on floor in front of sofa in living room, cobwebs galore, under all furniture on walls and ceilings. Dirty floors under most furniture in living room and dinning room. Sofas need a good clean. Decor wise the property is in need of some TLC. It's a shame that these important issues have to be raised, because the property is idea to stay in but could be so much more with some care. Lastly like the house the garden needs some TLC and had no sign of the barbecue advertised. In the winds the tree branches at the back bang on the upstairs bathroom roof, disturbing sleep.

Secluded, peaceful location. Ideally situated for exploring the Cotswolds and Stratford upon Avon, but at the same time feels off the beaten track. Great provisions for babies including stair gates, and the play house in the garden was a massive hit with our 4 year old. The only downside (which wouldn’t be an issue for us if the kids weren’t little) is the creaking floor boards upstairs/on the stairs. It wouldn’t stop us coming back though

Plenty of room for us 6 ladies. 3 bathrooms were a bonus and bedrooms very comfortable. Our only suggestions for the owners are the cottage name being more obvious from the road, it was dark when we arrived so tricky to see and the bedroom downstairs was chilly but that is perhaps us not doing something!? Overall though we were really happy and would come again. It’s such a central location for so many areas, perfect for exploring the Cotswolds. However, could do with another easy chair in the sitting room as 7 adults sitting on 2 sofas was a bit squashed. Also there were only 5 small plates (for 7 people), no serving spoons, few teaspoons. Perhaps more crockery would be useful, especially if using the dishwasher - unless you put it on after every meal! The underfloor heating created a welcoming entrance when coming in from the cold & the wood burner a treat. We had a couple of blips with heating problems & a water leak, but the owner, Mark, was on the case straight away, problem solved as quickly as possible and a couple of compensatory bottles of wine was a welcome touch. The Welcome pack provided was the best we have ever had & this was at least our 6th Sykes cottage rental. Local bread, cheese, fruit juice, butter, marmalade, milk & more, delicious, thank you. Cot,high chair and stairgates were supplied as requested. Otherwise, the place was spotless, as usual, as was the famous welcome pack, a complete breakfast in itself, and more We visited the farm shop where the contents originated, and stocked up with their produce for the rest of our stay. Despite the log burner in the next door lounge, my son and family found the downstairs bedroom very cold at night. We realised there are no shaver points in either bathroom, although we didn't need them ourselves. The property

A superb detached cottage ideally located in the centre of the pretty village of Pebworth, just a short distance from the historic towns of Chipping Campden and Stratford-upon-Avon.

It has links to actor Sir Ben Kingsley.

He originally rented an apartment in the village whilst working at the RSC, and this apartment was in Pebworth House that stands opposite the church.

Upon achieving fame with his film role Ghandi, the actor bought the whole property from his landlady and the grounds on the proviso that he would build a cottage in the orchard for her and her family.

The result is Pebworth Cottage which has mellowed over the years to be part of the village and is now, after extensive renovation, ready for guests to enjoy.

It is beautifully furnished with everything needed for a luxurious break in a stunning part of the country.

Enter the cottage into a light and welcoming hall, ideal for storing walking gear or wellies and make your way to the stunning, well-equipped kitchen with granite worktops and a stable door to the rear garden.

Next door the gorgeous dining room makes the perfect place for catching up with friends over dinner.

From the dining room is a bright and light sitting room, with warming woodburning stove, sumptuous sofas and large windows and glass doors.

From the hall make your way to the first floor where you will find three beautiful bedrooms all boasting high-quality beds and bed linen, plus the two front bedrooms have the added benefit of amazing views of the surrounding countryside.

Back on the ground floor is a superb king-size bedroom complete with stunning en-suite (accessed via stairs to the first floor) with a slipper bath ideal for a long soak after a day exploring the area, and a luxurious double shower.

A beautiful bathroom is situated on the first floor as well as a wet room on the ground floor off the hall.

Step outside and enjoy alfresco dining or family games in the enclosed cottage garden or take a short drive and enjoy a meal at one of the many excellent pubs in the area including a 13th century thatched tavern at Honeybourne or The Fleece at Breatforton, owned by the National Trust.

Further afield, there are many unspoilt towns and villages in the area, with Broadway, Stow-on-the-Wold and Moreton-in-Marsh all within easy reach.
