  • "We had a great holiday at 7 The Green."

Would highly recommend this holiday cottage and are planning to make another visit next year.

Many thanks for your wonderful feedback- much appreciated- a lot of effort goes into keeping the cottage clean comfortable and enjoyable for our guests - delighted you had such a good time in our beautiful village Property Owner

  • "Good location with good local services."

Plenty of dishes, cutlery etc but!! The basics were the big letdown for example the first thing we had to do was clean surfaces and cupboards and there was lots of dog hair and crumbs etc not cleaned up between visitors. A dishwasher but only one tablet highlighted either neglected tasks or poor standards. The mattresses were horrible and so much so we left 2 days early. Not value for money or somewhere we would return to. An honest review without prejudice.

We are sad to hear you did not have an enjoyable or comfortable stay at No 7 The Green and that it did not meet your expectations. We have certainly taken on board your feedback, we also will discuss pricing structure with Sykes Cottages as this is something they control. The mattresses are fairly new with memory foam toppers on each and again we appreciate this an important part of a guests stay so we will be looking into purchasing new ones. We pride ourselves on cleanliness in the property but we can only sincerely apologise for that, it clearly was not up to scratch for your stay and was an honest over site on our part and has been duly noted and we will make our up most for this not to happen again. • "The property seemed ideal for us upon arrival."

On our first evening we decided to retire early following a long drive, unfortunately during the early hours we were woken up by revellers who we believe had left a local pub, this also happened again over the weekend, the house seems to be a stop off point on the way home. It also seems the property is situated on a dog walking cut through and barking dogs do start fairly early, the late night experience and early morning wake up call did in fact ruin the whole visit. The property we found to be clean and suitable for a couple, unfortunately the lounge did not accommodate our family guests, not enough comfortable seating. A nice touch was a bottle of prosecco and a selection of crisps. We had difficulty opening the sash windows, this led to steaming up in the bedroom, the shower was extremely difficult to operate, extremely hot, very stiff when trying to adjust the temperature. Beds comfy, just not used to a standard double, bedrooms very compact. Some of the door handles were difficult to operate and very squeaky. As we intended to spend a couple of evenings relaxing in front of the TV it was a shame the picture was so dull, I would suggest a new new large screen TV be installed ASAP, it was quite old. The house had a lot of doors to navigate, obviously obviously making it unsuitable for the disabled. Overall our stay was not ideal, we did not contact the owner as we felt our stay could be further interrupted, the few points raised would make the whole experience more enjoyable. The cost for a few days was very expensive, lets see what results from our feedback as we would love to return without the issues raised.

Thank you for your feedback. We pride ourselves on delivering a high standard of property and that all are guests have a comfortable & happy stay. We are sad to hear that this was not the case for you. We always take on board all feedback and action any feedback as soon as possible and as and where we can. This has been done today ready for the next guests arriving. Some of points of your feedback is unfortunately out of our control and I can only think certainly with the disturbance of people walking past the property from the pub which you mentioned ,could be down to it the Football Euro Championships so may well be busier than normal . The village is popular village for dog owners & walkers and it is part of the Whittington walks route which leads to the beautiful Whittington Bit End park . The cottage is a 17th century property and does comes under a conservation area ,so we are unfortunately limited to what internal changes we can make, so we have tried our best to furnish the property in keeping with the layout of the cottage. Regarding the pricing this is decided by Sykes Cottages themselves and works on a pricing structure comparing availbilty in the area. We do hope you come back and stay again and you welcome the points/feedback we have been able to rectify. Property Owner

A great location and facilities. I'm being pernickety here as it's such a minor point, but the beds could be a bit comfier. But I know that is a subjective view. But overall top class!

Thanks for the positive feedback - we've put new mattresses in a couple of the beds recently but I'll see if they can be improved further. Property Owner
